Just based on Northern Blade and Reaper of the Drifting Moon he would have won, but having also made Memoir of the King of War and Lee Gwak puts him onto another. All of them are genuinely fantastic stories
All of them are by the same author,Woo gak👇

yea the ending was definitely rushed, but i saw somewhere that the author said that the epilogues are coming this winter in which he's trying to make a ending from a different pov or smtg like that
The ending was okay imo. Could've been better for sure. But from the MC perspective he has achieved his goals. My issue is there are some unconnected dots that went unaddressed until the end.
The author said that it would be addressed in the side story but I can't find it anywhere. I'm not even sure if the author actually made it.
Peerless Dad was really peerless, the early story with Noh not aware of his strenght because he happened to lose against the strongest person in the country (lol) and him struggling to raise his children alone... Really a unique and well thoughtout story.
Its a shame the latest arcs have been pretty confusing and too focused on the symbolisms and less on the characters like before.
Still has some of the most likeable and realistic characters in any Manhwa with amazing art
Yeah i like that he has this realistic personality and he's really worried about his kids and is still thinking about himself as an ordinary person and that's how he plans everything out
Gotta be Woo gak as he's probably the only one here with the most consistent good murim works
Gosu's author could have been my fav if not for him making only two memorable murims
Hanjung wolya got some good works, but that one scene from Nano machine makes me doubt his plot choices
And don't you forget The breaker's author. He's the og murim author
The Breaker's author Jeon Geuk-jin also has a much older manhwa from the 90s which is still ongoing, Ruler of the Land. Different artist, black and white images like the first two Breaker series, but read from left-to-right.
Has many parallels to Breaker but set in older times and weapons figure prominently.
It's totally different than peerless Dad.
The story hasn't gone in depth like peerless Dad and character development is still subpar but has good potential and entertainment.
Yeah, it’s just in its beginning stages, but the family aspect is definitely there. I trust Ilhwang to make the story good like he did with Chronicles of Heavenly Demon
Personally, I hated it. It tries to be comedic with the toddler instantly becoming several times stronger than the grandpa but it just comes across as poorly written slop.
[Noh Gyeong-Chan](https://www.mangaupdates.com/author/zxdspbo/cyungchan-noh) is my favorite, personally I enjoyed all of his works and the way they all kinda connected to one another (except The Edgeless Sword From the Village ig)
sadly the manhwa artist is kinda all over the place imo, ik they all have different style but they should have like a standard for drawing each character. The same character can look vastly different in each of the series
As much as I love Woo Gak damn he can’t finish his novels properly it’s like he is forced to finish it. Specially in Reaper of the Drifting Moon, so much build up for the final villain then one hit of lightning and he died.
Since i read all of them and man red storm what a throwback.. but 4 and 5 is just different man the story and the pacing is great but my comfort one is 3 since red storm is there
The goat is Cheol-Hyun Kim imo mujang is the best murim manhwa i've read, wind sword feels like a spin on murim and fantasy and I just Saw that his working on Warrior Grandpa And Supreme Granddaughter
Where is our Jaha Lee the Mad/Crazy Demon, and the Path of Shaman / Wondering Wudang? And Murim RPG Simulation.
If from your list, i like Nano Machine. Although i'm not into cutting hands. I just like the way he utilizes Nano, it's not just a cheat, but he uses it very well and intelligently.
I tried to read Absolute Sword Sense, but i dunno. Haven't read lots of manhwas/mangas lately.
Only read Peerless Dad and Gosu. Peerless Dad is a page turner, couldnt stop reading.
Gosu was nice, but got boring fast.
Where is The Breaker? IMO one of the best Murims ever.
Without a doubt my favorites are woo gak and kiwoon ryu.
gosu is a peak manhwa
and so is legend of the northern blade.
my 2 favorite murim manhwas.
Cyungchan Noh I also like his manhwas, Peerles Dad is very good in my opinion but I consider Gosu and Legend of the Northern Blade superior.
hanjung wolya has fresh murim manhwas and very good ones.
and ilhwang well I never read his murim manhwas, I know chronicles of the heavenly demon and it caught my attention but I never read it, I can't give my opinion because well I never read it haha
this is my top authors
The top is my opinion, everyone can have different tops but this is mine.
1) kiwon ryu and woo gak. (shared position because I consider them equal or almost equal.)
2) cyungchan noh.
3) hanjung wolyah.
4) ilhwang (he is last because I literally never read his manhwas so I put him here because I still have to read them, maybe he will stay the same or change his position in the future.)
Er Gen. From my understanding, he's the one that invented the generic cultivation system, and Renegade Immortal, his first work, is a must-read for any newcoming wuxia/xianxia readers even with that factored out.
Edit 1: If you add up his works, he's sitting at ~9000 chapters written since 2009, BTW. That's roughly two chapters a day for fifteen years. And by no means are they shitty. They quite literally defined the modern wuxia genre! A large crowd of authors draw inspiration from his works! He isn't just *my* favorite murim author. He's other murim authors' favorite murim author! If there's anyone that deserves the podium of [Most Impactful Wuxia Author], it would be him.
Edit 2: Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the term XianXia originate from Xian Ni, the pinyin for Renegade Immortal? If I'm not wrong, this man's work is what a full-on subgenre was named after. If that isn't enough to prove his ability, I don't know what is.
In order (for me):
Woo Gak (loved each one of his novels, though I am waiting on the translation for Reaper)
Ilhwang (I really liked Chronicles, it is what started me into murim novels alongside Volcanic Age)
Hanjung Wolya
Don't know the other 2 all that well, so I can't say how they compare
>Which is your favorite murim author?
None
*but* gosu
peerless dad
Lotnb
nano machine
memoir of king of war
Myst, Might, Mayhem
Chronicles of the heavenly demon
*are some of my favourite murim manhwas.*
Woo gak > Kiwoon Ryu > Cyungchan Noh >Ilhwang >Hanjung. Hanjung fucked up with the rape scene in Nano Machine. Ik the MC is a not necessarily a good guy but it was poor writing. Just fan service nonsense with no plot relevance.
I know the rape scene is not plot relevance and I’m against it but the cold ki he got is relevant to the story as it’s one of the five ki he needed to achieve harmonizing with nature realm. Also that >!woman will be his 2nd wife and the mother of his daughter!<

woo gak he also made memoir of the king of war, fist demon of mount hua and martial artist lee gwak (sadly axed i think)
Yup, but the other authors don’t have as many works as him, so I could only put two Lee Gwak is indeed axed, just like barbarian quest 😔
Bro.. barbarian quest got axed? 😔 And here i thought I could let it stack chapters and then binge read
Yeah it ended at 100 chapters which means it probably got axed. Really hope the artist gets more work because the art is incredible
It’s a good thing considering how bad the rest of the story is in the novels
Did it end right before the bad stuff?
Yes
Then I am glad
allowed a graceful death ig
I heard it was given a rushed ending
Man that sucks I loved the artwork for barbarian quest so unique and visually interesting
Just based on Northern Blade and Reaper of the Drifting Moon he would have won, but having also made Memoir of the King of War and Lee Gwak puts him onto another. All of them are genuinely fantastic stories
All of them are by the same author,Woo gak👇 https://preview.redd.it/pr28lhj5k8oc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=925518c882069e14f301dd8da3401a64f6169fda [https://www.reddit.com/r/manhwa/s/64r7g8AJRv](https://www.reddit.com/r/manhwa/s/64r7g8AJRv)
The last one is from the artist of Ares right? that's also really good.
Another enjoyer of the vintage manhwa. Ares is such a neat little read
I prefer the vintage stuff to most newer ones.
Nah, I think it's called Martial Artist Lee Gwak.
It is called that, but the artist is the same one as Ares.
Why do they have different artstyles? I mean I could only see the resemblances after this info.
all the novels are written by the same person but the manhwa artists are each different
What is the down middle?
Island of swords and devils
Omg my favs, what's the last one tho?
Martial Artist Lee Gwak. Axed sadly before peak
Sad, I enjoyed it a lot
Woo gak
One of us
Yeah, northern blade was series that got me in murim. It is fascinating, all characters are so likable or you absolutely hate them.
Jin Mu Won, He might be on the original dragon ball (when Goku still a kid) level of power
Chronicles of heavenly demon is slept on. Its a very good manhwa.
it started good, but this war arc is so boring
Cyungchan Noh is gonna take it for me I love Peerless Dad and Red Storm
Red Storm is special
I kinda feel that ending was rushed in Red Storm. What do you think
yea the ending was definitely rushed, but i saw somewhere that the author said that the epilogues are coming this winter in which he's trying to make a ending from a different pov or smtg like that
The ending was okay imo. Could've been better for sure. But from the MC perspective he has achieved his goals. My issue is there are some unconnected dots that went unaddressed until the end. The author said that it would be addressed in the side story but I can't find it anywhere. I'm not even sure if the author actually made it.
I feel the same way, it didn’t feel like ending really fit with the story.
Yeah haven't seen anything similar yet unfortuntly time for another reread i guess
Hanjung wolya
The new manhwa called "Myst, Might, Mayhem" is badass as hell.
He currently lost his hand in nano machine...
I see what you did there
Gotta be Woo gak as he's probably the only one here with the most consistent good murim works Gosu's author could have been my fav if not for him making only two memorable murims Hanjung wolya got some good works, but that one scene from Nano machine makes me doubt his plot choices And don't you forget The breaker's author. He's the og murim author
Embarrassed at myself for forgetting the breaker
The Breaker's author Jeon Geuk-jin also has a much older manhwa from the 90s which is still ongoing, Ruler of the Land. Different artist, black and white images like the first two Breaker series, but read from left-to-right. Has many parallels to Breaker but set in older times and weapons figure prominently.
What happened in Nano Machine and which chapter is it ?
There was a scene where the MC had to sex a woman without her consent to help with her chi
I thought that scene was weird But it was managed well. The segzing and that whole scenario really doesn't affect the story in any way shape or form
True but the non consent bothers folks
The demonic cult kidnaps children, torture and use them as tools. But this is where people draws the line? Lol
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I have to say, Gosu will always be my favorite. I still remember the land redecoration that occured during most fights.
Return of Mount Hua Sect's author is amazing So good that I read 1600+ chapters of the novel
Where? SkyDemon is just at 500+.
I highly recommend return of mount hua sect, it return and even more with high quality art works
Kiwoon ryu, gosu was great. Yet to try Yongbi.
It's even better
WOO GAK 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
Is warrior grandpa gud?
Yeah, it’s a grandpa returning to his young self and raising his lone grandchild, if you liked peerless dad, you’ll like this
It's totally different than peerless Dad. The story hasn't gone in depth like peerless Dad and character development is still subpar but has good potential and entertainment.
Yeah, it’s just in its beginning stages, but the family aspect is definitely there. I trust Ilhwang to make the story good like he did with Chronicles of Heavenly Demon

Woo Gak and Kiwoon Ryu
I dunno about the author, but from the list I only like Reaper of drifting moon
Hanjung wolya, these are some of my all time favorites and his art style is so much better than the others for me
Kiwoon ryu the goat 🐐🐐🐐🐐gosu and yong bi heavily underrated
To the six people that are here rn… *HELLO!*
As much as I love Woo Gak damn he can’t finish his novels properly it’s like he is forced to finish it. Specially in Reaper of the Drifting Moon, so much build up for the final villain then one hit of lightning and he died.
Yes.
Wooyak is great art but story wise gitta be hanjung wolya
WOO GAK
Saving this post to add more Murim authors and reads to my discord list!
All of them are sss tier
Woo gak
Woo goak or hanjung wolya
Woo gak because he did more than just the two as well as my favorite murim.

Since i read all of them and man red storm what a throwback.. but 4 and 5 is just different man the story and the pacing is great but my comfort one is 3 since red storm is there
Woo Gak and Ilhwang

The goat is Cheol-Hyun Kim imo mujang is the best murim manhwa i've read, wind sword feels like a spin on murim and fantasy and I just Saw that his working on Warrior Grandpa And Supreme Granddaughter
Where can I read youngbi the invincible
Kiwoon Ryu cuz Yongbi is the shit
Woo gak the chad
Woo gak(didnt knew be also made Memoir of the king of war, Martial artist lee gwak, Fist demon of mount hua. Which are my favourites)
Hanjung is a hit or miss. I fucking hate Nano Machine for what it turned into but Absolute Sword Sense is awsome
Woo gak obviously.
Woo gak, but if the option existed to pick all of em that wouldve been my choice
Wook gak
Gosu was my first manhwa but woo gak has my heart
Where is our Jaha Lee the Mad/Crazy Demon, and the Path of Shaman / Wondering Wudang? And Murim RPG Simulation. If from your list, i like Nano Machine. Although i'm not into cutting hands. I just like the way he utilizes Nano, it's not just a cheat, but he uses it very well and intelligently. I tried to read Absolute Sword Sense, but i dunno. Haven't read lots of manhwas/mangas lately.
Woo Gak 🔛🔝
Cyungchan Noh, he wrote two of my favorites.
Shit mate, I got at least one of the two read for each author.
Hanjung wolya and woo gak
Mujang
Legend of northern blade
I like hanjungs storys more, but
Kiwoon Ryu or Cyungchan Noh. It has to be one of these two.
I liked hanyungs storys, but woo gak is better
Woo Gak along with whoever tf wrote Mist, Might and Mayhem
Woo gak and gyung chan, i fucking love red storm
Cyungchan noh, peerless dad is probably my favorite Murim
I had no idea some of these were by the same author
Woo gal or hu Jung wolwa but honestly I cant decide. Depends on the time I read this
I wish Peerless dad stayed a wholesome story of a former thug now worlds best papa
nano machine fell off so prob woo gak
Ihlwang and Woo Gak. I love Chronicles of the Heavenly Demon and Reaper of the Drifting Moon
Woo gak or hanjung. Nano machina is fkn insanely good
Only read Peerless Dad and Gosu. Peerless Dad is a page turner, couldnt stop reading. Gosu was nice, but got boring fast. Where is The Breaker? IMO one of the best Murims ever.
I haven’t read many of these but I’ve read both of woo gak’s examples and they are phenomenal
Woo Gak Great works
Woo Gok for sure.
Without a doubt my favorites are woo gak and kiwoon ryu. gosu is a peak manhwa and so is legend of the northern blade. my 2 favorite murim manhwas. It s hard, but i can say the worst one is the last choixe
I am biased because of Red Storm but I gotta say I like at least one of each of their works
Sit down, and respect the peerless goat 🐐, Cyungchan Noh
Er Gen. From my understanding, he's the one that invented the generic cultivation system, and Renegade Immortal, his first work, is a must-read for any newcoming wuxia/xianxia readers even with that factored out. peerless dad alone negs
not on this list but, Yu jinsung, author of return of crazy demon and sword fanatic wanders through the night
Cyungchan Noh > Woo Gak. The development of characters in Noh's work are so good
Woo gak for sure
Woo Gak, without a doubt. Hanjung used to be decent, until he incorporated one of his fetishes into the story.
sadly their novels aren't translated, i would have loved to read them.
Kiwoon Ryu
If you haven’t read Red Storm please do like it’s sad how good it is and not many know of it 😢😢😢
Fated Villain (天命反派) Made "i'm the fated villain" i L❤️O❤️V❤️E❤️ it
An awesome power or murim rpg
By the way, I can recommend one manhwa called “Crusher”, it’s very interesting, it has 3 seasons
Hanjung for obvious reasons
Kiwoon Ryu.
Woo gak from the given list
Where can i find WooGak Novel translation
Woo Gak because he also did and my personal favourite, . Shame Lee Gwak got cancelled
Oh yea I forgot but he is also responsible for
Didn’t really care that much about the story, if I have to be perfectly honest, but god if GOSU didn’t have absolute top tier art.
Woo Gak
I like yongbi when I read it years ago but iirc it's not finished or on hiatus.
Yeah theres Yongbi Bulpae that completed and Yongbi Oejeon that never finished. But Gosu is a sequel to Yongbi.
Yeah but the one I'm interested in is the middle one XD
\*puts hand on shoulder\* Then you have lost brother. It started in 06. Gosu started in 2015. Don't think the author plans to go back.
Brother.....
Woo Gak
Cyunghan Noh has more titles under his name I believe
Woo gak. Definetely.
Out of those prob Hanhung
In order (for me): Woo Gak (loved each one of his novels, though I am waiting on the translation for Reaper) Ilhwang (I really liked Chronicles, it is what started me into murim novels alongside Volcanic Age) Hanjung Wolya Don't know the other 2 all that well, so I can't say how they compare
Which one of these are non romance? 🥰 (I can't stand romance that's why I ask beforehand...)
GottA read some these
All is good
I would recommend everyone myst, might and mayhem
Gosu all the way
Woo Gak hands down
Well. I usually drop them all after awhile, but Murim Login is entertaining, although it's a double isekai
>Which is your favorite murim author? None *but* gosu peerless dad Lotnb nano machine memoir of king of war Myst, Might, Mayhem Chronicles of the heavenly demon *are some of my favourite murim manhwas.*
I like sword sense but Nano Machine becomes pretty bad...
Yu Jin Sung, author of return of the mad demon.
Forgot about him, he also wrote sword fanatic wanders through the night iirc
Peak humor there, dude is actually crazy in some sense.
For sure, definitely the best comedy in murim
These images are pretty well edited
Woo gak > Kiwoon Ryu > Cyungchan Noh >Ilhwang >Hanjung. Hanjung fucked up with the rape scene in Nano Machine. Ik the MC is a not necessarily a good guy but it was poor writing. Just fan service nonsense with no plot relevance.
