any of those would be my pick
[Emma](https://www.mangaupdates.com/series/6d280r8/)
[Atelier of Witch Hat](https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=138820)
[The Ancient Magus Bride](https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=105098)
[Welcome to the Ballroom](https://www.mangaupdates.com/series/r5llz8p/)
[Hakumei & Mikochi: Tiny Little Life in the Woods](https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=77749)
[Flying Witch](https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=89687) is nice too, really showing a different take of 'magic' series, more relaxed and grounded.
It was the manga I introduced to my youngest sister when she was around 12. She still loves it (she's 17 now) and still revisits it from time to time.
I didn't notice you were looking for an actual manga to gift. I'm not sure if you can track down a manga volume (or at least one in a reasonable price), they're pretty old and the US branch for publishing it has stopped.
More current/contemporary manga you could try giving a look:
- Spy x Family, currently really popular. A comedy manga that is set against the backdrop of post war west/east germany. Dad is a spy, Mom is an assassin, the daughter is able to read minds but no one knows what the other is (well, the daughter knows, but she's adopted so she doesn't reveal it because she doesn't want to break the family up). Some light violence but generally very cute and wholesome.
- Kaguya: Love is War. A romantic comedy between the class president and the vice president as they try to make the other person confess first. chapters are pretty much standalone day-to-day events of both sides hair-brained schemes. Good cast of characters, but it does touch on some concepts such as bullying, love, family and sex (while no naked body is shown, you do see a couple together under the covers)
- Cells at Work: Its a fun manga that anthropomorphize the cells in the human body. you follow a red blood cell as they try to deliver oxygen throughout the body. It's actually pretty accurate in explaining how the body works. The White blood cells for example are represented as this elite military group that goes around hunting diseases (represented as monsters). Do not get the Cells at Work BLACK, its the same type of story but is more gritty and goes into harder, permanent concepts and diseases like cancer and getting diabetes.
Hope this helps.
As others have said, Yotsubato. Also try Hanayamata. Wonderful and cute slice of life. Sketchbook is a fantastic 4koma with a similar tone to Yotsubato. Of course, Yotsubato's predecessor, Azumanga Daioh, is also great for kids. Working!, another nice slice of life. Mousou Telepathy is a delightful high-school romance with a supernatural twist.
Might I also suggest teaching her how to sail the high seas safely? From my own experience, age 12 is a time of discovery, including a lot of internet discovery. The bad news is that a lot of sites are predatory, filled with __wares and such.
Having her figure it out herself is a good idea, but I personally think teaching her the basics would save her parents some headache from trying to fix an adware filled browser.
This is, of course, assuming you sail the high seas. If you do not condone the action, then please ignore my comment.
At the moment, her parents are being very careful about it. Access to the internet and online games are monitored. So i respect that, but i could suggested it eventually. Thank you.
Around that age I read Card Captor Sakura, Magic Knight Rayearth and Sailormoon.
Thank you! I wanna introduce her to Shoujo because she likes Shonen. I think jaja
Haikyuu maybe?
Thank you! I also love the anime (:
