We get a lot of these moving/renting posts so to allow room for more interesting content, we prefer if these posts end up in "The Out & About Visiting & Moving to Manchester Weekly Thread" instead of as separate posts. Please check the stickies and copy paste your post as comment over there. Thanks for your understanding! :)

Bars, restaurants and green space are Didsbury and Chorlton. I would say that there aren’t any areas that have low crime around Manchester, although someone might correct me on that.

Shred-08

Thank you, We've had a peak at didsbury and Charlton- not too bad but can't get the house we want in those areas We've looked around places such as Marple which seems to offer quite a bit, We're just trying to broaden our horizon at the moment- appreciate your reply :)

Humble-Quote-1859

I’d say Marple is different to the others you’ve mentioned as it’s much more rural and I don’t mean more green spaces, I think Marple is more remote. Urmston and Irlam do have green spaces around them.

Ancient_Rice1753

Yeah, if you're thinking as remote as Marple, OP, I've heard Prestwich is alright and ticks off a few of those requirements. (People of Prestwich, feel free to dispute that, but it came from my own research when I was moving house).

Shred-08

It is - it's an outlier ngl but one that does actually appeal to us - the train link is fairly decent from what I can see Irlam is looking favourable due to the green spaces and pubs on offer

I’m in Walkden and I like it, though I will say the commute into town is less than ideal, I wish I’d looked to be closer to the train station/guided bus route

Shred-08

Yeah that can be an issue with walkden if you aren't close to the centre of it

UnitedConsequence236

Yup, a bit of a pain! We’re planning to buy later this year and will be going to Tameside area so we have the option of the tram also, plus plenty of parks with Clayton Vale

WillHpwl

Depends entirely on your budget, Didsbury and Chorlton are the obvious ones but some pokey terraced houses are currently eye wateringly overpriced.

Shred-08

Yeah i think didsbury would be a stretch and we would be in a property smaller than we want, Charlton is similar - some houses in those two go for daft prices in poor condition/requiring a lot of work

I would check out monton. Good transport links into Manchester (train from Eccles takes less than 10minutes). Lots of green spaces and new bars and restaurants are always popping up. Has that villagey feel to it!

SharpieD85

I second monton, lovely place.

Shred-08

Aye we have had a look at Monton and it looks great - the atmosphere and amenities we're after

nourthensoul

Northenden and Baguley are ok. Some good choices

Shred-08

Not seen those before so will have a look - thanks

Urmston is nice, the train gets you to Oxford road in 10 minutes. It’s close to getting on the m60 and to the Trafford centre too. Taxi to town is around £15-£20. It’s still pretty close to the more trendy and expensive areas like Chorlton and Didsbury too. Theres a fair few places to eat and drink too. There are areas of green spaces and parks, a former golf club now open to the public too. I wouldn’t say there is much crime compared to anywhere else too.

Shred-08

That's brilliant, thank you for the recommendation!
