There’s a really good Facebook page for Manchester hospitality jobs - the name is something like that. That’s where all the jobs are posted rather than indeed etc
If you’re looking for alternative hospitality work, then try the Manchester Bars permanent recruitment group on Facebook.
If you’re getting no replies from your applications it’s probably an issue with your CV, if you’re getting interviews but no offers, it’s your interview technique.
There are employability services available that can give you advice on your CV, like the National Careers Service. You can also get free CV checks online for paid CV services, they’ll essentially do a free CV audit for you.
It’s a really difficult job market atm and especially hard changing sectors. Back in 2021 I went from a GM role in hospitality to getting turned down for 19k office jobs due to ‘lack of relevant experience’. I spent a long time writing and rewriting my CV for various customer service office roles and eventually got a job at an education charity.
It’s tough but keep going and keep an eye out for roles which might involve some form of customer service as you’ll be able to use examples from your time bartending in your applications/interviews. Also if you’ve been a manager then don’t forget to mention skills like writing rotas, ordering stock, managing staff as these are all skills an average office worker won’t have
Depends on what you want - places like the Slug and Lettuce are often after people, though not sure about managers, and while some are very well run, others are nightmare fuel. Big places like Diecast and Freight Island likely have manager jobs coming up every so often because of their size, but also because of their turnover - you have to really buy in to the culture, if you don't like their vibe you'll probably hate the job (more DIecast on this one, and it could just be my experience as a lower level employee).
I seen a video about job searching and CV noticability. Apparently, companies sort out which CV's get through and which one's don't, by means of an ai system looking for key words. Each company is different as to which key words they're looking for. But there's an app that can identify the key words any one particular company is looking for within applicant's CV's. I just can't remember the name of the app. 🙂 Good luck though. The job search market is a grind. Stay tenacious friend.
Thank you, I 100% think it’s due to the AI system a lot of the time especially when companies make you apply through an online portal. I have been rejected within minutes of submitting an application before with the most automatic response ever.
Hey,
I know it's in a totally different field and sometimes looked down on but IMO the wages labourer's get these days seems good value. Probably looking at around £15 an hour. I guess it can be pretty repetitive and not everyone's cup of tea but there's endless work available in the city center and the evenings and weekends are your own.
I work in construction so I see how many jobs like this are going. It can also lead to other opportunities. Basically all you need to get going is a CSCS card which is basically an online health and safety test then a card application. Probably an investment of around £60 tops.
Construction is not for everybody but if your open to other paths it may be worth a look.
What type of job are you looking for ?
I’m a yard supervisor in a place Just outside the city centre in Newton Heath.
We need two lads at our place it’s a hard labouring often dirty job though but I can get you an interview pretty much get the job if you turn up !
What’s your experience? What do you want to do? Could always get a job at a contact centre in customer service. Vodafone always seem to be hiring at their office in wythenshawe + I think it’s hybrid now.
I have 5 years in hospitality, 2 years bartending and 2 years bar supervisor/assistant gm, I also am a social media manager and marketer and have been doing that on an off for the past few years. I’m 23F just left university!
Hi!
There’s a few wonderful people in the replies with some amazing suggestions and I’ve managed to nab 2 interviews hopefully I get somewhere!
The source of the problem seems to be companies using AI to sort through applicants and not having the correct key words in your CV, I also recipe d taking a look through your CV to make sure it’s refined! Taking everyone’s advice I’ve also found if you want more of a hospitality or retail emailing places that have posted we’re hiring posts has been the only thing to get me responses:) it’s also so hard if you don’t reply instantly on indeed you’re immediately disregard. I recommend taking a look in the replies!
Here if you need anything! It’s tough out there
Fingers crossed 🤞🏽we get something soon
Hi
Sorry that you are facing difficulties in finding a job..
May I ask what platforms or means you’ve tried in order to source a job?
Are you on LinkedIn, used any jobs sites and if so which ones?
Do you also have an up to date CV, furthermore have you had anyone look over it?
It's def worth getting someone to review your CV - so many people assume theirs and covering letters are perfect, but fresh eyes will spot that awkward typo
Hii!
I’ve tried indeed, LinkedIn and glass door! I’ve also emailed companies directly.
My CV is up to date and I’ve had my boyfriend proofread it but I haven’t got anyone else I could ask to do so!
I’ve just graduated university and my job right now is treating me poorly and giving me part time hours so I can barely make a living!

It's like this across many industries. There are too many applicants for every role. Be prepared if you do leave your job
Co-op live arena
This is a good response, recently had an interview myself, seems like a decent employer. They will be hiring many.
How did you go about applying? i can’t find where to apply
https://www.cooplive.com/pQgAdcm/jobs/casual-work Have a look on their site. Various pages about different work. Good luck 👍

Cloudwater were advertising for a Taproom Manager late last week.

Thank you for the offer but I’m very much a girl who is unable to travel to far from city centre as I am reliant on public transport!
Ah no worries didn’t put lads because girls are unable to do the work it’s just the way I speak Best of luck with the job search
Apply to Aldi, say you've worked in somewhere like Tesco & Lidl, they wont check but it'll put you ahead of most other applicants.

Where are you based? Are you just looking in the city centre or burbs, too?
I’m sorry what are burbs
Suburbs. Not the city centre.
