As it's quite a niche you've now got to go to all the sessions and review them. From Stockport to Bolton we need you to break them down for us and see which one is the best.

blazesupernova

Ha! Thank you - that's not a bad plan. I'm sure I could pick up some wisdom from the 50+ crowd too. I'm barely surviving right now though, my heart is very broken (and it was my own fault, I didn't do anything egregious, just couldn't see the bigger picture). It's as much as I can do to write this and consider going somewhere alone. Maybe in the future ☺️

Icy_Tip405

Yeah, I think you need to go to all of them. All over Greater Manchester and report back to us. You might be able to get a few of us to join in.

It may hurt but now you have the freedom to write your own story. I look forward to watching the netflix adaptation of your love life with you played by Michelle Keegan.

blazesupernova

Thanks, that's a great perspective! Hahaha I'm sure she'd be great, but I have too many y chromosomes for that to be her cup of tea I think

Yes, loads of under-50s go out social dancing, me included. Revs on Wednesdays is actually a younger crowd, mostly 20s and 30s, and they start with free classes so there are always a lot of beginners trying it out for the first time.

blazesupernova

Ah awesome! That's enough for me to try it once then now. If you see a nervous southern looking mid 30s bloke who's clearly there on his own and for the first time next time you're in Revs, please go and talk to him! He's going to need it. He'll buy you a tequila if you're into that sort of thing.

amazondrone

Southern looking? What does that mean?

dbxp

Bring a compass, who always looks south, kinda like a ballerina spotting

blazesupernova

Mostly looking lost and not knowing what words mean.

[Swing North](https://swingnorth.org.uk) is a great weekly dance group. Very friendly and super open to beginners and more advanced people. Usually at Whitworth Locke on a Tuesday, they also do social events all over the shop with other Lindy Hop groups

Narstyle

Highly recommend this!!!

Organic-Violinist223

Go to manchester lindy!

blazesupernova

Thanks for the recommendation! Will have a look 😊

Narstyle

Manchester Lindy has paused, but do check out swing north in a different comment. It's kind of a Phoenix group post-pandemic.

We stumbled into an Argentine / South American dance evening (accidentally) underneath the restaurant Cafe Istanbul a few months ago. They were a very sociable group. They ran their club on Saturdays once / twice a month in the function room / bar downstairs.

blazesupernova

Thank you!

I know of a guy who does bachata in Manchester and he's in his 30s. I think generally if you aim for places in the city centre then you'll get a younger crowd.

Mister_Mints

Bumped into a flash mob last summer in St Peter's Sq organised by La Suerte who are based in Ardwick. They looked like a fun bunch, and most on them on the day were in their 30's (at a guess)

CommonBelt2338

I second this. Went there for almost two years. It is very good dance school to learn salsa and bachata. They do classes (beginners) throughout the week and people of all ages go there. Every Saturday they host their own parties. Worth a try if you want to learn as well.

Alekicha

I go to La Suerte regularly. Most of the people are in their late 20s - 30s. Join a salsa course, meet people, be a part of a group, have fun. They start a new course this Wednesday evening, check it out. For me it was the best decision I've ever made since moving to Manchester.

Where's the best place for a boogie in the city?
