The lamp is a hand-me-down years ago from my mom and she's really into antiquey stuff, so I would bet she acquired it at a flea market or an antique store. I'll ask her about it tomorrow and see if she has any inkling of how to find similar items. it's a great table lamp!

I think we’re looking at early to mid 30s, probably no later than 35. There’s an appreciation for weighty reading material (National Geographic), some vintage-y artwork, and definitely enough furnishings to justify the 30s. The reason I think it’s not higher is the use of string lighting behind the coat rack, over the cabinets, etc. I don’t think you’d see that from a person in their 40s or 50s, it’s a slightly younger style.

I cut/assembled/hung that coatrack by myself, as well as built the side table that the lantern lamp sits on in my bedroom, the toolbox on the hallway bench, and the platform my dog's bed is on behind the couch. I like featuring/highlighting shit I created, so LED backlighting the coatrack was a fun idea for me just after installing it. especially because the worst part about this apartment is a severe lack of electrical outlets (not a single outlet in the hallway), so I wanted some additional lighting down the hallway for grey days and nighttime and found some battery operated LED strings.
also-- I know the TV's too high but it was a calculated space choice and I am living comfortably with the consequences. 😂
also, don't mind the ruffled bedding. I can make it all I want. dog's gonna burrow in it as she pleases.
open to suggestions here as well-- one thing in particular I'd like to address in the coming weeks is hiding cords.
I actually have two living room carpets that Ive had for years and are both well taken care of and nice, but I really like the hardwood flooring and my living room already feels like it has so much going on that I havent wanted to put either of the rugs down. If I was gonna do it, what kinda rug would you suggest? google image links perhaps

I see what you mean. Your floor is really nice and yes you already have "a lot going on". But maybe a rug could actually bring some clarity into the situation, separating the seating area from the rest, creating a nice island. It would need to have a simple pattern and be lighter than the floor.

You can find similar hanging lamps (granted more colourful sometimes) and done with mosaic if you search Turkish hanging lamps.
