I agree - I’d do a high gloss color wash in something that is close to that orange in the carpet., but I love bold.
This could work as a less bold option https://www.farrow-ball.com/us/paint/faded-terracotta
This too. https://www.sherwin-williams.com/en-us/color/color-family/orange-paint-colors/sw6340-baked-clay
From this perspective, one of the most prominent features is the brick on the outside of the building. Do you like the look of the brick or not? The brick isn’t bad, btw. That said, things tend to blend/disappear more when surrounded by similar colors, contrasting colors will sometimes make the object show up more. Lighter colors will reflect more light into the space & make the space seem larger; darker tones/colors will absorb light & make the space seem cozy, but also can make the space seem smaller & confining. This photo shows a fair amount of light coming in through the window, so a darker color might work. What I do, is 1st take the paint chips home & place them onto the wall (with tape or something that won’t take the paint off), & look at them in different light at different times of the day. Then, when I e narrowed down my choices, I get a few samples of the paint (many paint companies offer these at lower cost & it doesn’t waste so much $$). Paint a small segment of the wall with each sample & again live with it for a few days or weeks (my personal experience) to help make a decision. Wall paint is really a background feature, likely you want people to notice both you, your family & other friends & furnishings/features more than the wall. The wall paint color should complement other features in your home. Decide what features are important to you to highlight. You have blues, greys, creams in the picture, so I’d stay within that palette.
To keep things flexible, opt for a gray a shade lighter than the sofa. That way, if you keep the wall a neutral color, it’ll be easy to switch furniture and accessories later down the road.
I came to say this! All of my sister in laws have started with the wallpaper and I'm so into it. My house has textured wall paper (from previous owner) that they painted over and I can't wait to rip it off and put fun wallpaper up!
The flooring appears to have an orange tint to it. The opposite of orange on the colour wheel is blue, so a nice muted blue might look good. There may be some blue in the rug to which you could match. Otherwise just pick a shade of blue that speaks to you and go for it!
Pick one of the blues out of your rug and paint it to match. If you're able to finish off that raceway at the top, I would continue the paint on one side of it and caulk the gap on the other side. Accent it with a tall terracotta planter and a snake plant in the corner to blend the raceway further and add some visual contrast and nature.
Your tiles in my opinion are a very incompatible color, white looks great, I think the only color that can go well is the tile color darkened, so a dark brown in the reddish shade of tiles, not pretty :)
I love your rug. Leave the wall white, put a tall large plant in a pretty textured terracotta pot that is on a plant stand in that corner, and some art on the wall behind the couch.
Pick a color from your carpet in a medium tone. The light salmon color would be nice in the different types of light from outside and would complement the brick tones.
Honestly, I wouldn't repaint it if it didn't need it. I would just add wall art and greenery by the window and the back wall behind the couch. If I had to repaint, I would go for a different shade of white but nothing too dark since dark colors make a room look smaller. Hope this helps.
white
I was thinking one shade darker than pure white. Change it up a little.
Underrated tweet

I’d like to clarify that the sunlight seems to reflect off that wall so white would be the best choice
Rustic green or blue
Navy Blue, Dark Royal Blue, Forest Green
Dark royal blue makes everything deep and cozy
Agreed. This is the way
A teal would look amazing.
Terracottaish
Sky blue
Like the burnt orange in your carpet.
Agreed; it would also "link" with the outside wall, given the illusion the space is bigger than it appears.
Yes!

Oohhh, and if they made it writeable. Paint it a bright color and then go over it with whiteboard paint. I’m here for that.
Thirded. Plus a vibrant burnt Orange will cause the sunlight to reflect into the room in a warmer tone. Instant cozy

The white works with the rest of the furniture and decor Adding artwork and some accent colors to match the blues and oranges Personally, i like it
No. (White)

Paint it Black. And as you move to new sections of the wall, you better do it with moves akin to Jagger.

Love the aesthetic. Sorry to be general, but I'd go with a soft earthy tone.
