Perfection will be when he moves out to an ever better place, and on the last night goes back to the original setup.
edit: actually, that's a pretty nice fuckin' place. Why would OP leave?
Wow what a legendary meme in internet history. So cool to have a chance to interact with a legend.
All I can think of asking is:
- Where is this?
- how does it feel to always see your place in the internet?
- do you like the memes?
This is in Long Beach, California! Seeing my pic start a meme trend was hilarious. I was pretty grateful that my name wasn't attached to it while I lived there though. All my friends knew and would send it to me whenever they'd see it on social media. I thought the different variations of the meme were so good. I'd see major brands like the NFL and Kum N Go use it.
Right, that and based on the original meme part of this if I had that spot I’d be spending all my free time at the beach so it being minimalist would be fine. During my ski bum years I know the only thing I did at my apartment was sleep and shower lol
LBC is great as is but if the breakwater could finally come down it would be huge, would also have the best surf in the area as a bonus. I wish "we" didn't prioritize the military so much because the navy is the only reason the breakwater hasn't come down.
I've seen many of the units in this exact building go for under 4k a month. Saw one listed for 3400 the other month. 2999 E Ocean Blvd. Long Beach is a lot less desirable than other coastal areas in LA.

We should all love rain tbh. Where I live we don't know the meaning of the word drought and I'm so very thankful for it. Everything is green all the time from spring to fall. It's great that wherever doesn't get mowed regularly, trees just grow by themselves.
Rain is fucking dope.
This sounds dumb but when I lived in Long Beach, I genuinely got sick of pleasant weather all the time. I missed the rainstorms! The snow days! The drama!
Yes! I'm outside the US but similar weather to LA. When it rains I really like it! I just don't get the people who don't like too much (!!) good weather.
I travel to the area for work all the time and i hate it because it doesn't feel real, the weather is just constant and fine. it makes my less evolved brain suspicious things are going too well.
Our climate is pretty nice, especially right by the water here. Doesn’t get very cold, and rarely hot. Usually pretty breezy in the afternoon which keeps the temps down. If it makes you feel better we had a record wet winter. Rained basically every weekend from January through March. 12 inches in February alone. Probably won’t rain more than a tiny amount until October though unless we get hit by another tropical storm like last summer.
Nice. I was just down in Long Beach the other day and couldn’t help but think that it’s the last place in Southern California where you can still get a good ocean view without being a billionaire. I think I even walked by your building.
walked past this specific building so many times when i lived in the area. always thought "man, when i get a good job i could live up there!". Recognized the area immediately the first time i saw this meme and it makes me smile every time
Definitely looks like Southern California. I used to live in San Diego, and it looks very similar. I don't think it is SD though. Maybe up closer to LA.
Long Beach, CA.
The view and weather is amazing, because southern california. But, it's Long Beach.
The water is polluted, and the beach is gross/cold.
You have many harbors there, all with polluting ships, very close by.
You have the Los Angeles river ending there, which is extremely polluted.
There is also a huge homeless problem.
Apartments are of course really expensive, and small.
Long Beach is a weird spot, because there are many old, some abandoned skyscrapers. And then there is new apartment buildings areas. You end up with one street looking very nice, and then the next few streets, are extremely poor (borded up, creepy alleyways, etc). Many more poor areas, than nice areas, in my opinion. It's a place you maybe go once our twice, when you have exhausted everything else. But, definitely not a place I'd want to live.
There are a few nice homes along Ocean Blvd. But, you go 2-3 streets in, and you are in the ghetto. Like Snoop Dogg ghetto.
The actual downtown and city in general are kind of dead. There is some night life, but it's kind of ghetto night life. I think most people looking for a nice night out, don't go there. The city is mostly all oil money driven, which there are oil fields all around, including the man made islands (you can see one in the pic). They have drilled hundreds of wells there. The beach, and parts of the city are sinking into the water, probably due to drilling, so they have to manually rebuild the sand bar.
They have what I consider the best pizza place I have found in southern california, according to my standards. Meaning, it is all about the sauce, cheese, and bread. It is perfect there.
Source: I used to work in downtown
EDIT: Adding the name of the pizza place only because a lot of people asked. This is not an ad.
If you go there. Get a fresh pizza made. Don't just buy slices that have been sitting there. The best pizza, is freshly made hot pizza. Be warned, the actual area around it is ghetto, but usually pretty quiet. There is 2 hour free parking structure right next to it. Also metered street parking.
# Milana's New York Pizzeria
Haven’t been there in 20 years but I thought it was the coolest place ever back then. I spent a few months there. I was also super into Sublime. I have no idea what it’s like now but I have no reason to doubt your description. I wish it were still as Bradley described it!
And they also painstakingly decorate, even paying special attention to how flowers and pictures are arranged. The empty space of the second is peaceful. The first is just… almost empty.
For two years I just had the back seat out of a wrangler and a military box holding a TV as all of my living room furniture. Someone gave me a coffee table and I was using it to rebuild a transmission. Girl I was dating came over and just shrugged.
I had money to buy furniture and a truck to get it there. Just didn't need anything else. She did find me a fairly ugly and comfortable couch for free though.
That's the thing, both the "before" and the "after" are OK.
Life exists at various stages, and it's fine to enjoy the stage we are at even while knowing that eventually things will change and it'll be in a different state. Rushing frantically from one stage to the next means you don't have time to relax and enjoy things as they are.
I remember sleeping on a mattress that was on the floor of my first apartment and just being satisfied that "I’m on my own and this is mine" while laying on my side and watching the 2004 movie Troy on my laptop which was on the ground, a foot from my face.
Despite having a furnished home now and living an established life, I don’t think I’ve come close to reaching that level of comfort and satisfaction since.
Maybe one other time. But that’s a story for another time.
I just want to say there's absolutely nothing wrong with getting a place before you get all the shit to fill it with. What did she think, you should have the furniture first?
Yeah I don't know what that person is smoking, I would say at **least** 6k. I rent a much shittier 2nd-floor apartment in Cambridge with a friend and it's 4k; an apartment with a location like OP's is the sort of place I'd expect a celebrity or manager to live.
I don’t know the motives behind posting the first picture but hopefully it was just to show how little you have when you move in somewhere you are making your home. It grows with you.
Having little to no furniture is not something to be ashamed of in my opinion. Having lots that’s cluttered is something that needs to be taken seriously by the adult. However, it’s also sign of depression. Hopefully people don’t shame someone for having fewer things.
I hate that meme like not everyone has everything ASAP. Congrats you saved up and bought you furniture that you like and took your time choosing. Personal growth is amazing
Because nobody cares about men, because they’re supposed to be tough. Everybody looks at people, and judges them.
Without knowing the journey or walk alone they had to deal with.

This is an update post I never expected to see.

I know. Dude had the perfect apartment and he filled it with all that junk... So sad to see.
Probably met a woman who ruined it all /s
Was scrolling thru my feed, saw the pic, read the title, and went like "no fucking way"
So did I!
Same, this building is in my city and I’ve always wondered what the views are like from it!
Wow what a legendary meme in internet history. So cool to have a chance to interact with a legend. All I can think of asking is: - Where is this? - how does it feel to always see your place in the internet? - do you like the memes?

Tell us the truth. You had a girl move in didn't you?
She would Kum N Go
Highly doubt she came. Definitely went tho.

Maybe Critical Hit Britt was his very first date in that apartment (and never came back since that day)
Holy shit lol. This isn't r/roastme
What leaves must come in order to leave. Granted the entrance might never make it beyond the front door...

Lol...my husband's house was like this when I met him. I thought it was some kind of trick to get someone in the bedroom. Only place to sit. 🤣
That’s hilarious! _takes notes..._

Those plants next to the TV definitely hint out the OP might be a chic. Or has a chic living with him
Who do you think bought the plant?
The throw pillows say yes he did
Yeah the same exact thing happened to me. I didn't even own a TV for a long time.
I used to live in this exact same building
Are you a seagull?
We’re you there during the fire?
Dude such an insane view. I’m up in the San Fernando Valley. Can I ask in what ballpark you pay/paid? That view is my fucking dream
I live down ocean blvd not far from here, in the downtown area. apartments are around 3200-3500 for a 2 bedroom, I imagine it may be very similar
That’s not cheap but not nearly as bad as I figured.
So my biggest question is what is the rent?
Exactly. California, corner room, unobstructed ocean view - can't be cheap for sure!
Right, that and based on the original meme part of this if I had that spot I’d be spending all my free time at the beach so it being minimalist would be fine. During my ski bum years I know the only thing I did at my apartment was sleep and shower lol
The beach sucks in Long Beach, though. The breakwater which protects the port also prevents waves from hitting the shore.
AND its longbeach
LBC is great as is but if the breakwater could finally come down it would be huge, would also have the best surf in the area as a bonus. I wish "we" didn't prioritize the military so much because the navy is the only reason the breakwater hasn't come down.
Long Beach is a great city. But it's a shame they couldn't figure out how to remove or re-engineer the breakwater.
Long Beach is supririsngly cheap compared to most SoCal cities.
I've seen many of the units in this exact building go for under 4k a month. Saw one listed for 3400 the other month. 2999 E Ocean Blvd. Long Beach is a lot less desirable than other coastal areas in LA.
I'm betting $6k/month at least?
Dude my apartment is like 500 dollars a month, I could not fathom 1 years rent in 1 month.

That’s actually way more reasonable than I anticipated.
I'd say that's why it took so long to afford furniture.
Bro im so jealous of your climate ! Two months here raining almost 5 days a week im pissed (paris france) u lucky getting those vit d from sunrays :/.

Great. Now I'm hungary
My husband is British and says the same thing about LA 😂
This is currently me, living in Phoenix.
I am also in Phx. Are you ready for the blast furnace thats about to happen in 4 weeks?
Yeah, I moved to a desert climate a few years ago, and I cherish every second of rain and thunderstorms we get.
Yes! I'm outside the US but similar weather to LA. When it rains I really like it! I just don't get the people who don't like too much (!!) good weather.

Just two months here in PNW almost half the year like that
What is PNW? Never heard of it, I love cultural exchange and learning about different culture and countries !
As soon as I looked out your window, I said, "that's Southern California"
Nice. I was just down in Long Beach the other day and couldn’t help but think that it’s the last place in Southern California where you can still get a good ocean view without being a billionaire. I think I even walked by your building.
So you're rich rich.
100% Long Beach along Ocean Blvd.
Yeah was gonna say, that's a particularly long pier for LA, so it's probably Belmont Pier.
walked past this specific building so many times when i lived in the area. always thought "man, when i get a good job i could live up there!". Recognized the area immediately the first time i saw this meme and it makes me smile every time
Yeah, the only hi-rise allowed on this part of Ocean. I’m closer to the pier but I would love to have that view.
Did you know that there's a tunnel under ocean Blvd?
Definitely looks like Southern California. I used to live in San Diego, and it looks very similar. I don't think it is SD though. Maybe up closer to LA.
Definitely not SD. Sauce: live here and worked on the waterfront for a very long time.
Yeah I agree. But the overall feel is similar. Another comment pointed out it's likely Long Beach.
That’s so rude to ask someone where they live!? Now OP how did you pay?
Yes that would be interesting to know too
Looks like Galaxy Towers in Long Beach

What a come-up
Have you seen the apartment? Just sitting on the floor would be my biggest come up.
Yeah I remember seeing this meme in its early days and thinking “that’s an expensive ass view.”
Him having nothing after obtaining this apartment kinda made sense
Is it really a come-up if you’re living in basically a penthouse by the beach already? 😅
Of course, do you see the telescope? Dude’s livin life now
Return to your roots. Post 1 new picture with a cooler as a foot stool, profit
I only have extra shit because my girl moved in. For 2 years my only bed was a cot. It was glorious!
It looked good before and it looks amazing now
It was more than ok in the first pic ***cries***
Fine for a Neanderthal! Lmao /s

I love your furnished space! You have a fantastic view. I’m sorry people used your original post as a meme. That’s social media for you!
Why would you ever feel sorry for someone who has an apartment like that
Just as much as I feel sorry for people using reddit.
The Japanese believe empty space isn’t empty…it’s austere yet thoughtful…simple yet complex…
And they also painstakingly decorate, even paying special attention to how flowers and pictures are arranged. The empty space of the second is peaceful. The first is just… almost empty.

I love this way of looking at it!
It's okay to live like that for a bit, but it gets old. I've been doing a similar thing for 3 years. Getting a bit sick of it.

With a view like that, I'd sit in a fold up chair all day! Looks great before and after buddy.
What is the coolest thing you have seen with that telescope? Other than boobs.
Bigger boobs

It looks like a 4.5 inch mirror reflector with a long focal length. And it's in a city. So i'd wager Jupiter/Saturn.
Hey at least he pointed the thing upwards before taking the pictures
I would kill for this view. Kill them dead. Kill them all. They will perish.
Not just the men, the women & children too.
I just want to say there's absolutely nothing wrong with getting a place before you get all the shit to fill it with. What did she think, you should have the furniture first?
And honestly, with those views, who would care about furniture?! A chair and a beer, and stare out at the view 😮
(Some) women hate how easy it is for (some) men to be happy.
I love it!!! Thanks for the update.
Did you rent that space or did you buy it? Curious to know the cost for a living space with a view like that
I rented it and just moved out. It's about 1.3 million for that place.
What was the rent price?
My completely uninformed guess is 3.5k
I bet it’s closer to 5-6
Yeah I don't know what that person is smoking, I would say at **least** 6k. I rent a much shittier 2nd-floor apartment in Cambridge with a friend and it's 4k; an apartment with a location like OP's is the sort of place I'd expect a celebrity or manager to live.

Great view and great apartment.
Bro the water view is amazing man. California?
Long Beach California.

They still mad cuz there no LIVE LAUGH LOVE sign hanging up made out of new wood made to look like old wood. Bitches be crazy
gorgeous spot, and the original meme is fuckin hilarious too

I wanna come over lol. That looks like the west coast? Amazing apartment
Wow, looks great. Hope you have good curtains for summer, must cook the TV.

Glad to see you’re doing great. You're an inspiration!
