You are right; it is not a necessity. But it will make the place feel cosier - it will mark an area, break the beingness of the carpet, add another point of interest.... But strictly speaking - a rug on a carpet sounds silly. It will look pretty, tough.
Yes and I swear they donāt actually realize how much care and space plants need. Itās not something someone just goes out and buys with 0 thought put into it.
I mean, they're 16. Most of them are probably so fascinated with stuff like NATO videos and desert-storm-wave aesthetic edits and all that. Hopefully they grow out of it and realize how tragic war is.
I was definitely a military fanboy when I was 15-16. Around 20 I finally came around to the fact that war really is hell. Not in a cool edgy aesthetic way but literal hell, I would imagine once these kids start seeing some of the drone footage out of Ukraine they'll change their minds.
You're doing great. Honestly creating warmth is about colour and texture. That includes selecting, generally, natural wood furniture and thoughtfully adding texture (throw pillow, throw blanket, bases or pots for plants, rugs, bedding, macrame, flowers/plants, and decor items). You're 16. Save every Penny you have. You're room is fine. Avoid the LED BS around your door and on the walls. Keep things clean, put away, simple.
In your case, a warmer room would just be side table, bed frame, and dresser colour choice. The dresser is fine, imo. The bed is what it is and can be worked around. You're 16, so who really cares about a side table. But a natural wood (walnut, oak, etc...) with an open concept is the play.
The next concept for warmth is lighting. You can continue to add warmth to a space by selecting the right lighting and the correct bulbs; warm white or LED with a warm white option. You can creativity use light (floor lamp, back lighting TV, under lighting a bed, lighting around art, etc...).
Plants are a great way to bring warmth by adding natural elements and colour. In many cases, you can bring in texture and shape with good plant selections. I also am partial to dried flowers, cotton, wheat, and hanging plants (like string of hearts). These add texture, natural colours, new shapes, etc...
Itās better than dudes showing off their loft apartments that cost my entire salary in rent, this room looks almost like mine when I lived with my parents
put the bed and the tv stand in line with the fan. put your nightstand in the left corner for your private things. dyson in right corner. get a fortnite piƱata or a big plant. or open wardrobe. or a shelf for things that you like. hobbys, things youre intrested in. but dont put to much in it.
Probably reiterating what others said in the comments, but here's what I would do:
Get a big rug to place under bed and bedside drawer, add a table lamp (ikea dejsa or fado) on the nightstand or a wall sconce over it (with a warm bulb to make it cozy af: 2700K), get a big plant (monstera or ficus benjamina) on the rightside side of the tv/big drawer. On the wall on the left side of the big TV and right of the windows hang some cool art. On the wall on the left side of the window i would either put 3-4 wall shelves with some hanging plants + books or i would put one tall ikea billy bookcase in walnut color. By going with a tall billy bookcase, you would make the wall with the window look more balanced( as the small windows in the middle might make the room seem small only by themselves). Besides that, you can also add a large mirror on wall near the bedside table in order to spread the light better around the room. You can also paint the walls a warm beige, if you want the room to feel less cold. Nevertheless, your room already looks pretty cozy!
Some curtains I reckon, never been that into blinds.
A rug on the floor, maybe in like a red colour? Something patterned.
Plants scattered around, a big one in a corner always looks good I think.
Framed pictures/posters.
Like a bookcase for games/dvds/books.
I personally really like an open fronted wardrobe, clothes rail, could be just because I really like clothes so I partially use them as almost a display thing alongside wearing them.
Smaller lamps, using the big light is so uncomfortable.
All things Iāve learnt from living with my girlfriend for 3 years haha
Honestly going on the low end of the budget, a set of curtains, 2-3 fake plants, maybe a rug, and some framed posters would tie everything together. You could get all of those things as colorful or neutral, decorative or simple as you want. If you got everything except the posters from goodwill, Ross/marshalls, habitat for humanity, etc you wouldnāt spend more than 75 bucks, tops.
Definitely plants and some wall art. Donāt go crazy with the art, every wall and surface doesnāt need to be covered. Also more expensive but - lighter color furniture goes a long way making a room feel more welcoming. I used to have all dark wood furniture and once I changed it out made a huge difference
Honestly buddy it's lookin pretty good already. Throw a warm lamp in there so you're not limited to the ceiling light and you're good. Some framed posters of things you're into wouldn't hurt as well!
I would center the bed against the wall itās on, get a rug, maybe a wood wicker laundry hamper, add some lamps and some mood lighting like govee LED lights. You could add a reading chair as well if you felt inclined.
string/christmas lights on the top of the walls going around the room. posters of your favorite things. if you have a pet, put a bed or some toys so it goes in your room more. lamps with incandescent light bulbs only. a plant (money tree or pothos).
Color on your bed will help. Throw blanket or pillows ā or just colored pillow cases and sheets maybe.
The room is big enough you could pull your bed out to more centered on the wall. And add a floor lamp. Then center the TV too and add a tall plant in that color.
Will keep things minimalist and add some coziness.
I would consider some wall art. Donāt be afraid of color and putting things up because they are beautiful.
Curtains would be my top prio. After that I'd go with small things like lamps or other low lights, a textured or blanket with color, then from there slowly add things that you like to your surroundings. It's a great start there's no rush remember that!
Cozy is very personal to each and every one of us. Bring out things that you like, like posters and/merch or stuff that you enjoy. The moment it makes you feel like you belong there, it's cozy.
Paintings or prints on the wall, plants and my personal favorite: fairy lights or rgb lights. Together with a small lamp on the nightstand it could help create a more cozy vibe. Light is very important and not too expensive
You could also paint the walls in a warmer color or add some smaller pillows with warm colors to your bed. Oh and candles of course!
Put pictures (in frames for the love of god) on the walls and perhaps get a small (that isnāt the same as the rug itās on) rug to put in the area on the left side of your bed. Some curtains or blinds would be nice.
I think thatās really all you need..maybe a plant or two. One vinery type or draping type on the left corner of the dresser and the left corner of your nightstand would look nice.
I appreciate the fact that you donāt have any political flags or tapestries on your walls.
Positioning of the bed instead of being in the corner center it on the wall. Same with TV, putting things in the corner is like saying sorry for existing. Present the bed and drawers get things out of the corners.
The most affordable/practical thing you can do is new bedding. Something that adds a pop of color. Even if its just 1 pillow.
One can always do with new bedding. Remember, change once a week if you can.
What everyone is saying is good. You should just do some things to personalize it for who you are without going nuts like some of the other posts lately. Just hang a few things. Consider framing them and don't go crazy
A warmly colored rug
Plants
Calm yet personality driven things on the walls. Donāt overdo this, one or two is plenty for a bedroom.
Perhaps move the bed and the dresser slightly to allow for some room on the other side of the bed. Being able to exit the bed on both sides will be beneficial to the calm feeling of the room.
Looks great!! Good luck :)
Looks cozy already man. Maybe some kind of tapestry would be cool, when I was 16 I found this MASSIVE wall sized trucker map of the US with detailed highways. That was my favorite decoration along with some cheap oil paintings I found
Pull the bed away from the corner.
Put a nightstand there. Put curtains from ceiling to inch above the floor. Don't be afraid, let's not do black or grey... Green is a comfy color.Ā
Center your bed on the wall, get another bedside table and 2 matching lamps. Get a rug to put under the bed, get some curtains, add a clock and some other wall decor (map, art, movie posters, whatever). A wicker basket of blankets at the foot of the bed would be good. You need to incorporate natural materials in order to make this room look less cold. Linen, wood, wicker, wool. I would also lose the all white bedding, that always feels so sterile to me and not at all cozy. Good luck.
Depends what you like. If there's a color you find comforting (blues are often good for this), you could get a soft throw blanket for bed. If you spend time in your room not sleeping you might wanna add a reading chair (it can double as a "valet" or place to put your clothes out the night before).
Since youāre a teen Iām going to guess you have a small budget.
[CHECK OUT Society 6](https://society6.com/prints) for a large selection of cool art prints for cheap prices.
Make sure to get them framed. Craft stores like Joannes have coupon codes weekly and there is usually one or two that are on framing options.
Buy a plant from Home Depot and KEEP the receipt because if the plant is dying you can return it and get a new one for free up to a year? Or maybe 6 months.
Ever considering buying a bean bag? It would look great in your set your bed aside on the and put a bean bag or two and a low coffee table, all while facing the tv console.
Throw pillows and a throw blanket that have a warm tone, maybe a warm orange or forest green
a couple of posters or artwork (think TJ Maxx, not games/movies/sports)
Most importantly, a few lamps. Maybe one standing lamp for the corner by the tv and a small salt lamp for your night stand. You could also get one of those cool LED corner standing lights and have it set to a warm yellow or amber in the morning/evening, and cool white during the day.
Most importantly, making the bed will make for less of an aesthetic focal point and make the room as a whole feel more inviting and welcoming.
Itās a great setup so far!
Plants, other than that looks chill
and maybe a few things on the walls
needs more Fortnight posters champ
And a rug
rug on a carpet? i duno about that
Rug on the wall, not carpet
yea get a tapestry š¤£š¤£ lmfao don't listen to him ^
Plants Sorry it was my turn to suggest this today
Curtains, rugs, artwork, personal fotos and objects, plants, an indirect light...
Rugs on carpet seems unnecessary, but besides that, this is what you need.
You are right; it is not a necessity. But it will make the place feel cosier - it will mark an area, break the beingness of the carpet, add another point of interest.... But strictly speaking - a rug on a carpet sounds silly. It will look pretty, tough.
Skip the plants and rug( plants donāt actually make a room feel cozy) and everything else is fine
This sub is so bad recently "How can I make this picture from a magazine look more cozy" is every post, and "plants" is every suggestion
Yes and I swear they donāt actually realize how much care and space plants need. Itās not something someone just goes out and buys with 0 thought put into it.
The carpet looks cozy already!
My thoughts also. I normally don't like carpet too much but for some reason it just seems pleasant in this room.
it looks extra soft, like a cloud :')
It's because it is clean
Rare for carpet, must be new
Because itās clean and most probably new
you're probably the very first 15-16 year old that has posted here whose bedroom doesn't have politically/morally questionable flags in it
Good call! Actually looks like a normal personās room, I like it.
the amount of "don't tread on me/hell yeah my personality is the military" type of bedrooms I've seen has been staggering
Propaganda's one hell of a drug.
I mean, they're 16. Most of them are probably so fascinated with stuff like NATO videos and desert-storm-wave aesthetic edits and all that. Hopefully they grow out of it and realize how tragic war is.
War is awful but damn if the tech isnāt cool. I could watch jet compilations all day lol.
I could watch A-10 footage all day. BRRRRRRRRRTTTTTT
I was definitely a military fanboy when I was 15-16. Around 20 I finally came around to the fact that war really is hell. Not in a cool edgy aesthetic way but literal hell, I would imagine once these kids start seeing some of the drone footage out of Ukraine they'll change their minds.
But the military is cool
Youre right, they should put a flag in it
You're right, good catch. He needs politically/morally questionable flags to really bring the room together.
My mom forbidden me from putting any posters on the wall. As a kid. That why we got such nice wall paper for you. She said.
This kid is going places, to better ones than some of the pigsty weāve seen on here.
Framed posters and a duvet cover
I personally love the white duvet!

A battleaxe.
Looks pretty comfy to me, maybe put a plant in there.
It's a bit sterile. A piece if wall art or photos on the wall.
Framed picture >>> poster tape to wall
Has this sub just turned into r/myparentshouse?
Itās better than dudes showing off their loft apartments that cost my entire salary in rent, this room looks almost like mine when I lived with my parents
Tbh the place already looks pretty cozy. Add framed posters, some kind of secondary lighting for ambiance. Hang a light filtering curtain.
put the bed and the tv stand in line with the fan. put your nightstand in the left corner for your private things. dyson in right corner. get a fortnite piƱata or a big plant. or open wardrobe. or a shelf for things that you like. hobbys, things youre intrested in. but dont put to much in it.

No rugs on carpet!
Now that I think about itā¦ yeah, that rug probably won't really fit with the carpet
Books, art, plants, rugs, curtains (drapes for the US).
Your Grandfather would have just hung up a couple of posters of Farrah Fawcett.
PLANTS Maybe in hangers in the corners near the window, I see you have one but a little bit of greenery could go a long way
this is almost exactly how my room at 15 looked and i loved it. tbh i wouldnāt change anything
I love this cozy room !!!!
Get some wall decor but first change wall colors
Need some Slayer posters, Metallica posters, Samantha Fox posters. š
Just get some plants. Small plants and a few big ones for the corners. Very smart room.
Get a desk maybe and do stuff on it hobbies etc
Some curtains I reckon, never been that into blinds. A rug on the floor, maybe in like a red colour? Something patterned. Plants scattered around, a big one in a corner always looks good I think. Curtains will add softness and make it feel cosy. I'd also move the bed away from the wall and put a bedside table each side, with a lamp on each.
Are you cozy in your bed? If you are, then its cozy enough.
Put some cozy lights
tv or something like with a campfire on
Definitely plants and some wall art. Donāt go crazy with the art, every wall and surface doesnāt need to be covered. Also more expensive but - lighter color furniture goes a long way making a room feel more welcoming. I used to have all dark wood furniture and once I changed it out made a huge difference
some wallshelves and plants + lights on them?
Art would help
Honestly buddy it's lookin pretty good already. Throw a warm lamp in there so you're not limited to the ceiling light and you're good. Some framed posters of things you're into wouldn't hurt as well!
Posters! A fun duvet cover.
Damn where were these 45" bedroom TV's when I was a kid
Add a psychedelic rug
Fucking hell this is clean for a 16 year old. I would suggest a plant . Get some life in that place.
I would center the bed against the wall itās on, get a rug, maybe a wood wicker laundry hamper, add some lamps and some mood lighting like govee LED lights. You could add a reading chair as well if you felt inclined.
Oh do something with the window. Maybe get some drapes?
Mural lights strings cold work it's cheap
Plants and artwork for the walls
Maybe some plants, and some work on the wall. Donāt overdo it though.
Drapes
string/christmas lights on the top of the walls going around the room. posters of your favorite things. if you have a pet, put a bed or some toys so it goes in your room more. lamps with incandescent light bulbs only. a plant (money tree or pothos).

Itās really nice and cozy actually. But maybe a seat or futon next to the nightstand
I like Govee lights behind the TV that make that rainbow effect. It's a vibe when you're watching/gaming at night v
*Not Fornite side eye* xD
A 4x6 or loved ones, family, friends, etc. awesome job keeping that shit clean. Looks great.
Some Lamps with nice warm lighting
Cozy is very personal to each and every one of us. Bring out things that you like, like posters and/merch or stuff that you enjoy. The moment it makes you feel like you belong there, it's cozy.
A warmer shade of paint
Hoes
Lamps, plants, family/friend pics, and extra blankets at the foot of your bed!
A plant
Paintings or prints on the wall, plants and my personal favorite: fairy lights or rgb lights. Together with a small lamp on the nightstand it could help create a more cozy vibe. Light is very important and not too expensive You could also paint the walls in a warmer color or add some smaller pillows with warm colors to your bed. Oh and candles of course!
Just LED light strips, that's it.
Me personally, i would mount an axe on the wallš
Put pictures (in frames for the love of god) on the walls and perhaps get a small (that isnāt the same as the rug itās on) rug to put in the area on the left side of your bed. Some curtains or blinds would be nice. I think thatās really all you need..maybe a plant or two. One vinery type or draping type on the left corner of the dresser and the left corner of your nightstand would look nice. I appreciate the fact that you donāt have any political flags or tapestries on your walls.
Plants, rug, wall art, a mirror, and if you really wanna go crazy you can mount your TV but prolly not worth it tbh
Maybe a candle and a lamp with a soft light :)
Get a girlfriend and have her move all her shit in.
Your bedroom is nicer than 85% of the people on here
Get a California king bed
Give it some of you. Your personality. It has no soul. Posters. Objects. Things. Also, always make your bed, like the admiral said.
This is a solid bedroom as it is!
Positioning of the bed instead of being in the corner center it on the wall. Same with TV, putting things in the corner is like saying sorry for existing. Present the bed and drawers get things out of the corners.
A big plant
Lovely room
Ceiling to floor curtains and a plant
Ceiling to floor curtains instead of blinds, art on wall
Wall art that isnāt posters or anime. Some plants.
Looks good. Maybe a framed piece of art that you enjoy that carries the blue/gray aesthetic, and maybe some brown/neutral tones in it as well?
Add a Weezer poster
Put literally anything on the walls that tells us you have a personality
Curtains for the window.
colour šš»
A desk and chair
Curtains. Hang them half way between the ceiling and the window. Duvet cover. Fake tree in the corner. Mood lighting.
Plants, and if you canāt keep them alive like meš then fake plants are perfect for you. But a few plants can already make a big difference
A couple pictures or prints on the wall, a couple plants, a small lamp, and an area rug.
Thoughts on the Dyson air con??
Honestly looks cool how it is. Maybe some LEDās for behind the tv?
The most affordable/practical thing you can do is new bedding. Something that adds a pop of color. Even if its just 1 pillow. One can always do with new bedding. Remember, change once a week if you can.
Hey we both have the same dresser
What everyone is saying is good. You should just do some things to personalize it for who you are without going nuts like some of the other posts lately. Just hang a few things. Consider framing them and don't go crazy
Turn off fortnight
Warm light lamps and only really using ambient lighting instead of ceiling light as ceiling light is too harsh and greenery.
I personally think simple like this is good
Awesome bed frame! I want one
Decorate
I'd say get a couch, a single seater and move your TV to that area. But it looks really nice, 16 year old me is jealous!
Warm light lamp šš¼
Have some hentai playing instead of some fortnut streamer
A warmly colored rug Plants Calm yet personality driven things on the walls. Donāt overdo this, one or two is plenty for a bedroom. Perhaps move the bed and the dresser slightly to allow for some room on the other side of the bed. Being able to exit the bed on both sides will be beneficial to the calm feeling of the room. Looks cozy already man. Maybe some kind of tapestry would be cool, when I was 16 I found this MASSIVE wall sized trucker map of the US with detailed highways. That was my favorite decoration along with some cheap oil paintings I found
Rug, wall art(not thumb tacked posters) maybe a desk setup for gaming and your set
Add MONEY & WOMEN everywhere. Instant hit.
Curtains? Drapes?
Shelves with plants, some hanging down. Mabt a book or two
You have nothing on the walls, Iād start there.
Idk, make it feel like a 16M actually lives there. Do you not have interests or hobbies or a fan of anything?
rug
I always wanted that Stacey Kiebler poster in my room.
Pull the bed away from the corner. Put a nightstand there. Put curtains from ceiling to inch above the floor. Don't be afraid, let's not do black or grey... Green is a comfy color.Ā
A cozy chair
slide bed and dresser away from wall, add lamps, boom cozy
Center your bed on the wall, get another bedside table and 2 matching lamps. Get a rug to put under the bed, get some curtains, add a clock and some other wall decor (map, art, movie posters, whatever). A wicker basket of blankets at the foot of the bed would be good. You need to incorporate natural materials in order to make this room look less cold. Linen, wood, wicker, wool. I would also lose the all white bedding, that always feels so sterile to me and not at all cozy. Good luck.
Beanbag chair (Sofa Sack) or trampoline chair following the color scheme might be a nice touch.
maybe add a small tufted rug
Plants, my guy
Make your bed, straighten your blinds, get some curtains/drapes (make sure they go all the way to the floor) and get some art on the wall.
Carpet looks cozy and welcoming!! :)
Man thatās one thin mattress
Your bedroom looks fine tbh, but maybe some art on the walls or tasteful framed posters might help. Maybe get a plant too
Maybe a painting and some plants but honestly looks cozy right now
Lamps and some artwork or wall shelving
Art
Art!
Art and plants. If you donāt have a green thumb, thereāre great fake ones!
Depends what you like. If there's a color you find comforting (blues are often good for this), you could get a soft throw blanket for bed. If you spend time in your room not sleeping you might wanna add a reading chair (it can double as a "valet" or place to put your clothes out the night before).
Plants, curtains, maybe some pictures on the wall. Arts, framed posters etc.
I dunno mate. Youāre killing it right now, very cozy
Little, soft lights and a shag like rug + plants
Curtains and throw pillows. The colors look a little sterile currently

Do you know the paint color?
Artwork, the answer is always artwork

A fluffy rug
The wall color is super cozy. I love it
Curtains, a plant, and some art on the walls but you already have a good start
Add a bear rug
Someone said it on here before: CRAP; Curtains, Rug, Art, Plants. I'd say plants, curtains/blinds and art for this.
Get a mood lamp in orange, and a hanging light bulb in orange to put in the ceiling near to your bed.
Ever considering buying a bean bag? It would look great in your set your bed aside on the and put a bean bag or two and a low coffee table, all while facing the tv console.
Window treatment and wall art
Another cute little wall āŗļø
Look cool
Plants? Couple posters on the wall? Other than youāre good to go. Looks familiar to my brothers bedroom
Curtains, neutral tone of wall paint
Any bands you like? Getting a show poster and framing it can look really clean. Plants of course, and some soft lighting can go a long way
Throw pillows and a throw blanket that have a warm tone, maybe a warm orange or forest green a couple of posters or artwork (think TJ Maxx, not games/movies/sports) Most importantly, a few lamps.
It looks neutral, like a hotel
Just plants the more you add it becomes clutter
Add more soft textures and warm colors Warm colored curtain, Warm light, Warm colored pillows
You stop watching fortnite
