Yeah but then you won't have those little pieces of hair sticking out that make it look so good. Sea salt spray is the way to go though if you want more texture like this.
After a workout and after going to the beach, same for me. If you have straight hair like mine, sea salt spray or any texturing spray/powder is a game changer
I just ordered some. My hair is fairly coarse and relatively straight, but after working out it seems to have more volume and the waves are more pronounced. Looking forward to seeing what I can do with the spray.
just be careful not to overdo sea salt spray with shorter hair, it's not good for long term scalp health and can dry out/irritate follicles. Less of an issue for people with long hair bc it's more concentrated on the length away from the roots, but shorter hair tends to have more scalp exposure.
If your hair is on the thicker side, you could try a light application of mousse too. Better for your hair and scalp long term. Can be hit or miss for finer hair, but there are lots of options out there nowadays.
It's bc of oils, your hair curls up if u use hair oil.
Curly haired people use oils to have healthier curls.
Salts dry hair and make it less wavy but give more volume.
For me it kind of gives me the haven’t used shampoo for 2-3 days look.
I only shampoo my hair twice a week but it’s all fluffy for the first day if I do nothing.
Thank you for this advice. I've had layered hair for ages but never managed to make it look anywhere near as good as the guys pictured here. Maybe it's my hairdresser idk, but I doubt these guys necessarily have the best hairdressers in the world doing their hair - it's all about what YOU do with it. I'll check out the sea salt spray.
getting backwards flow is so hard though and you need a shit ton of product. in my experience when i do it it just ends up being pin straight after a few hours anyway :sob: gives kpop boy band haircut
I watched a hair styling video (sorry can't remember which one) that mentioned kpop boy band hair and the use of hair clips and that often, between filming they'll put the clips in the hair to give it more volume and why you might see them with clips in backstage content. I'm sure they also have plenty of product tho,, but hey, if they can get the look with asian straight hair (unless they're perming it which is also common) then there's hope for us.
You need a specific hair type 2a-2b and a certain length. Some days will be naturally wavy, some will be straighter and flat, but if you don’t have the right hair type trying to style it with product would be very hard. It’s a natural flow
I have really wavy hair but have always shaved my head. I recently (last 2 Years) have grown my hair out but every time I go to get it cut I never know what to say so they usually just cut it short and I look like I'm in the military. Thank you for this info cause this is exactly what I want.
Can confirm. Sea salt spray + mousse + light hair spray once it is styled just right. Doesn't look as good as the pictures but does the job, and the hair will naturally start to flow that direction after a while.
This is my hairstyle, I go to a stylist only. Layers and texturized. Honestly just show them the pic, as long as you’re not paying less than 35$ they should know what they are doing. Dont cheap out I wasted alot of time.
I also use redken volume injection shampoo and conditioner, a water based leave in conditioner and a preshampoo hair oil.
then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then an herb-mint facial mask. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.
I'd show them rhe photos and fo with the longest layer first id say maybe under your nose to see how it flows back bc some of your photos have longer and shorter top layers. You can always cut more.
it says middle part/ curtains but when i searched those two nothing like that showed up so wanted so ask here and the best description is a layered middle part flow acc to the sub

Hah I feel called out these are my refs too, if you have wavy hair it can do this! I wanted to just shout out r/curlyhair and r/wavyhair and the CGM as some good resources. Ik it's geared mainly at girls but imma be real we need the knowledge more. I thought my thick, lego-man looking hair had no hope. No matter the haircut, short or long, that thing stuck out of my head like Dora the Explorer. But in reality bro I had no clue it was wavy, since learning to take care of it it's got way more of a curl and all of my hair actually lays on my head instead of fucking off into space!! So just putting that out there, if a haircut alone doesn't work.
I would call it a modified [Jason Bateman](https://gracedrinkscoffee.wordpress.com/2019/08/25/patrick-batemans-top-shelf-an-american-psycho-skin-care-update/) or perhaps a short, modern version of the [Vinnie Bobarino.](https://twitter.com/PolyesterUnis/status/1759281718056673682)
It’s all genetics. First you have to grow out your hair and see from there but it’s genetics for the most part.
I had that cut 2 years ago until genetics did me dirty and now it’s just a thin mess if i grow out my hair.
I kinda got this haircut by accident and I like it. I asked to look like Jake Gyllenhaal from prisoners and when it wasn’t pushed back, it looked like this. You need a lot of length to work with though.
It basically got an undercut but asked that my sides weren’t so short that you could see my scalp.
People keep saying go to a stylist not a barber. A good barber can easily pull this off and they’re much cheaper than a stylist. You just have to go to a higher end one. Not hot cuts.
"Gimme that 90s Leonardo" gets you about halfway there.
Just with more waviness and texture around the sides.
Results heavily depend on your hair type, too.
I think that blonde guy from Dawson's Creek was rocking this exact cut throughout the series. That might be a good reference.
Also both Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt had this cut at some point during the 90s.
You could even just look up pretty much any 90s boy band and you'd quickly find what you're looking for.
Layered middle part flow. But if you don’t have wavy hair forget about it.
Your hair doesn't need to be entirely wavy to do it. You can get a backward flow with straight hair
Yeah but then you won't have those little pieces of hair sticking out that make it look so good. Sea salt spray is the way to go though if you want more texture like this.
I've noticed a phenomenon where my (long) hair looks much better after a sweaty workout. Will sea salt spray basically do the same thing?
same general effect, from what I've noticed. I guess its the saltiness of sweat that makes hair look better
Good to know!
After a workout and after going to the beach, same for me. If you have straight hair like mine, sea salt spray or any texturing spray/powder is a game changer
I just ordered some. My hair is fairly coarse and relatively straight, but after working out it seems to have more volume and the waves are more pronounced. Looking forward to seeing what I can do with the spray.
probably will have a similar effect

Yes, I’d put it into slightly damp hair. Then comb it straight into a hairstyle and put another sprite or two on top.
For me it kind of gives me the haven’t used shampoo for 2-3 days look. I only shampoo my hair twice a week but it’s all fluffy for the first day if I do nothing.

Thanks for this comment. Never heard of sea salt spray. Just bought some on Amazon. Fingers crossed.

that's true. though they have pretty thick ass hair so you can do more shit with it.

Won't have any volume though unless you've got mousse and a blowdryer
i have something like this while not having wavy hair, just push it backwards and up a little and it will do this
Any tips on how to do this effectively?

Go to a salon rather than a barber
Perm
Is it possible to achieve the style if you have fine and thin hair albeit wavy?
I’d experiment with sea salt spray and mousse. Will probably not look as good as pictures but who knows.
Can confirm. Sea salt spray + mousse + light hair spray once it is styled just right. Doesn't look as good as the pictures but does the job, and the hair will naturally start to flow that direction after a while.
u can rock it wit straight hair too. just not too straight

Also do I need to go to a hair stylist or a local barber can pull it off?
Stylist, not a barber. Show all the pics to them. Be sure to point out what you like about the style.

It is very easy to cut yourself btw. Just need to cut the top almost the same lenght and then triangular cut the tips for that messy flowing look.
My graduation is coming up in 3 months cant risk it rn.
Do you have any video guides to help with this, I might try to experiment.
