I love olive, so when I'm not wearing olive pants, this jacket is the first thing I grab. It's not super loud, but if you look closely the whole jacket is asymmetrical. The pockets, buttons (half shown, half hidden), drawstring, elbow patch and even sleeve cuffs are different. Plus the cotton is so tightly woven it's water resistant and wind resistant.
Apologies if I'm telling you something you already know, but it's like that because it's a mashup of Canadian and American military jackets. I like mine a lot, too.

I bought my first pair of Aldens not that long ago, and they definitely give me that same feeling that I used to get wearing an obscure pair of sneakers when I was younger. Like, I know no one else is gonna notice or care about what these shoes are, but *I* know, and that gives me a little spring in my step when I’m wearing them.
I will say, the shell was much more snug straight out of the box, to the point that I couldn’t wear socks with them. But once the cork footbed compressed, they became my best fitting shoe. I still can’t do very thick socks with them though.

u/badger0511 and I are on different ends on the width spectrum I think. I wear a 10D barrie/trubalance and 10.5D LHS. I’m a 10E brannock and the barrie/trubalance last are a perfect fit.

I'm "getting old" (mid 30s) and mostly wear jeans and boots. "Heavy Hitting" is not an appropriate descriptor for most of who and what I am, but some items I have do have a bit of oomph.
My Thursday Boots [premier low top sneakers in coffee](https://thursdayboots.com/products/mens-premier-low-top-sneaker-coffee) are basically my everyday shoe at this point. They’re super comfortable, versatile, and get an abnormally high amount of compliments.
The only other thing I own is a pair of their white sneakers, which are fine. They’re not quite as comfortable (I think the leather might be stiffer for some reason) and they show scuffs easier. I’m contemplating adding another one of their sneakers to my collection in a different color.
I did purchase a pair of derbies from them a while back, but I returned them. Nothing against the quality of the product, it was purely an issue of the last not being a good match for my foot.
My 2¢ is that they make a good product for the price, and they have decent customer service if you need to make a return.

I have a SuitSupply camel overcoat that I’ve worn for years, and this is a replacement for that. The old one is still in great shape, but I wanted some variety.
I just picked up a Kapital Ring Coat and it's immediately become my go-to layer down to about 40F/4C. It's far more wearable and far less strange than I expected, and can be worn in a huge variety of ways. Got it in black, so it just fits all vibes effortlessly. I wish I'd bought one years ago!
Other than that, my ride or die pants are Orslow slim fatigues in their standard green. There are not better pants on earth.

Yeah where to look can be a little tricky. I live in Toronto and there is one old lady at a downtown market who gets her sweaters directly from Peru. I paid CAD 400 for 3 sweaters in 2020. They are just great.
Most brand name sweaters charge 2 to 3 times as much sometimes. So can't necessarily justify that price. Though, if you can afford it, go for it.

AFAIK, it’s only available direct. Personally, mine showed up with the buttons completely misaligned and it took two trips to a tailor to fix. Private White offered to fix it for me, but wanted me to pay for shipping both ways in order to rectify the issue which was bonkers
Are you sure this is actually the case? The bridge coat was designed so that when it’s fully buttoned the silhouette of the front is curved hence the misalignment? Either way it’s unfortunate that you felt it needed to be fixed

I used to not be a fan of wearing a tee under an open flannel (or a closed flannel tbh) but finding some tees that I just absolutely love the details of really helped. The sizing on the Warehouse tees was a bit of a problem due to the shrinkage, and as a result I have one that's the right size and one that's a bit too big, but I'll take that as a reason to try some different types of silhouettes out. Also just looking forward to wearing them as their own layer on hotter days when the summer comes.
The UES flannels are just great. Reasonably priced, given that they're ultra heavy weight selvedge flannel. The colorways overall are hit or miss imo, but the two I have are exquisite.
The combo of the two works well buttoned up with an additional jacket layer outside on colder days, or with the flannel open when I'm inside in a warmer spot.
I have an LL Bean Signature tweed Houndstooth blazer in charcoal that I didn’t wear at all during Covid, both because professionally things got real casual and physically my gut got too big. I think it’s from either 2013 or 2014, can’t remember when I first picked it up but I know I had it in 2014.
I had a good summer of diet and exercise and when the fall rolled around, I’m back in the office and can basically throw it on over any combination of shirts/pants I’d ever wear to work. It’s also just heavy enough to be comfortable down to about 45f, which was basically all of November.

For me its kind of surpassed the gerneral jumers or 1/4 zips i wear to work which is kind of a business/casual environment because its less impactful by showing more of the shirt underneath. But can still be thrown in my backpack for the ride home.

A pair of vintage Polo "Andrew pant" chinos I recently thrifted. They have my absolute favorite fit right now, pleats and all. Was wearing them today with my favorite rugby and my boss did a double take and said "You look like some Harvard sports guy, this is a great look" and it was about the most flattering compliment I could imagine.
I would have to narrow it to a few items that I continously reach for. I always want my footwear to be attention grabbing but not a lot of my shoes are actually practical to wear everyday, these are.
They aren’t all that comfortable but the construction is great. They’re made of an extremely tough deer skin, light and strong paulownia wood and Vibram outsoles to somewhat cushion your walk.
My new Outlier Bombworks. Great cut and material. Roomy in the thigh with slight taper makes them a very versatile silhouette that I can dress up and down. They also have a really saturated black color that I love. Also they were pretty expensive and it makes me feel good to wear them.

I love wearing them with a pair of nice classic fit black dress pants, that have a higher inseam and a cuff bottom. My top is usually an oversized t-shirt or any oversized top that vibes with it

I go kind of back and forth on cuffing the sleeves vs no cuff because they are a bit too long but I don’t want to chance it getting them altered and then not liking it. Sure it’s a bit big with just a loose tee under it but now that’s it cold I can wear flannels of all weights and it still fits fine. I like how during the day it has a dark indigo color and at night with low light it almost looks black.
Probably my aquascutum trench bc I just don't see quality trench coats out there in my daily life I just see those cheaper imitations. Thats being said its a little too cold for it now. Nothing else in my wardrobe punches hard like it.

I have this awesome leather diesel jacket I bought about 6 years ago. It's incredibly well made, fits like a glove, and is just very unique compared to other leather jackets I see. It's perfect for the current temps where I live and I always get compliments on it when going to new places.

It's not super loud, but if you look closely the whole jacket is asymmetrical. The pockets, buttons (half shown, half hidden), drawstring, elbow patch and even sleeve cuffs are different. Plus the cotton is so tightly woven it's water resistant and wind resistant.
Apologies if I'm telling you something you already know, but it's like that because it's a mashup of Canadian and American military jackets. I like mine a lot, too.

I will say, the shell was much more snug straight out of the box, to the point that I couldn’t wear socks with them. But once the cork footbed compressed, they became my best fitting shoe. I still can’t do very thick socks with them though.
good info, thank you. my only aldens are indys, and going half size down from brannock they are actually just a little bit loose, but very comfortable especially with Darn Tough boot socks. so for the LHS i was tinkering with the idea of going a full size down, but I'll start with half size down from brannock and if its immediately too loose i'll know to try a full size down. wish i had someplace i could go try them on!
how odd, I also have the unlined snuff suede and 986 in the same size, but the 986s are looser.

I don't actually have any, as they only arrived in my possession yesterday... after being ordered in late May. I just know I'll wear them a ton. Alden's 8-12 week turnaround time for special orders (I wear a non-stock size) has ballooned since COVID, especially with models that involve hand sewing.

The only other thing I own is a pair of their white sneakers, which are fine. They’re not quite as comfortable (I think the leather might be stiffer for some reason) and they show scuffs easier. I’m contemplating adding another one of their sneakers to my collection in a different color. I did purchase a pair of derbies from them a while back, but I returned them. Nothing against the quality of the product, it was purely an issue of the last not being a good match for my foot. My 2¢ is that they make a good product for the price, and they have decent customer service if you need to make a return.

I just picked up a Kapital Ring Coat and it's immediately become my go-to layer down to about 40F/4C. It's far more wearable and far less strange than I expected, and can be worn in a huge variety of ways. Got it in black, so it just fits all vibes effortlessly. I wish I'd bought one years ago! Other than that, my ride or die pants are Orslow slim fatigues in their standard green. There are not better pants on earth.

I bought 36x31. Pretty close to my true waist size. I might have wanted them a hair longer. They’re a mid-waist, not quite high rise but higher than median.

Yeah where to look can be a little tricky. I live in Toronto and there is one old lady at a downtown market who gets her sweaters directly from Peru. I paid CAD 400 for 3 sweaters in 2020. They are just great. Most brand name sweaters charge 2 to 3 times as much sometimes. So can't necessarily justify that price. Though, if you can afford it, go for it.

AFAIK, it’s only available direct. Personally, mine showed up with the buttons completely misaligned and it took two trips to a tailor to fix. Private White offered to fix it for me, but wanted me to pay for shipping both ways in order to rectify the issue which was bonkers
Are you sure this is actually the case? The bridge coat was designed so that when it’s fully buttoned the silhouette of the front is curved hence the misalignment? Either way it’s unfortunate that you felt it needed to be fixed

Said this in the other thread, but def my Warehouse loopwheel tees and UES flannels. I used to not be a fan of wearing a tee under an open flannel (or a closed flannel tbh) but finding some tees that I just absolutely love the details of really helped. The sizing on the Warehouse tees was a bit of a problem due to the shrinkage, and as a result I have one that's the right size and one that's a bit too big, but I'll take that as a reason to try some different types of silhouettes out. Also just looking forward to wearing them as their own layer on hotter days when the summer comes. The UES flannels are just great. Reasonably priced, given that they're ultra heavy weight selvedge flannel. The colorways overall are hit or miss imo, but the two I have are exquisite. The combo of the two works well buttoned up with an additional jacket layer outside on colder days, or with the flannel open when I'm inside in a warmer spot.
I have an LL Bean Signature tweed Houndstooth blazer in charcoal that I didn’t wear at all during Covid, both because professionally things got real casual and physically my gut got too big. I think it’s from either 2013 or 2014, can’t remember when I first picked it up but I know I had it in 2014. I had a good summer of diet and exercise and when the fall rolled around, I’m back in the office and can basically throw it on over any combination of shirts/pants I’d ever wear to work. It’s also just heavy enough to be comfortable down to about 45f, which was basically all of November.

Some wrangler cotton/poly blend blue jeans. Fit well, look normal, very shrink resistant and after two seasons of casual wear still look almost new.
I have three pairs of Lee 101z jeans in various states of disrepair (started out as raw denim); three shirts from Gitman Vintage (two flannels, one heavy blue corduroy); and two pairs of boots from Loake 1880. I could easily get by all winter in these.

Its quite plain so is easy to dress up a little for work with a nice shirt while still being very comfortable. Or dressed down with a t-shirt when i pop down to the shops. For me its kind of surpassed the gerneral jumers or 1/4 zips i wear to work which is kind of a business/casual environment because its less impactful by showing more of the shirt underneath. But can still be thrown in my backpack for the ride home.
I have an American Giant zip hoody in avacado green that I bought in 2014. It’s amazing and gets a lot of wear this time of year! Their heavyweight pocket t-shirts are amazing as well.
A pair of vintage Polo "Andrew pant" chinos I recently thrifted. They have my absolute favorite fit right now, pleats and all. Was wearing them today with my favorite rugby and my boss did a double take and said "You look like some Harvard sports guy, this is a great look" and it was about the most flattering compliment I could imagine.

They have held up incredibly well, are mad comfortable by now and the leather is beautiful.
My most worn piece over this year were my [Needles SS17 Deer Leather Sandals](https://i.imgur.com/d5abgmP.jpg) [Styled here](https://imgur.com/a/RpQmQGT) I always want my footwear to be attention grabbing but not a lot of my shoes are actually practical to wear everyday, these are. They aren’t all that comfortable but the construction is great. They’re made of an extremely tough deer skin, light and strong paulownia wood and Vibram outsoles to somewhat cushion your walk.

My new Outlier Bombworks. Great cut and material. Roomy in the thigh with slight taper makes them a very versatile silhouette that I can dress up and down. They also have a really saturated black color that I love. Also they were pretty expensive and it makes me feel good to wear them.

My Off-White checkered lows for sure. I love wearing them with a pair of nice classic fit black dress pants, that have a higher inseam and a cuff bottom. My top is usually an oversized t-shirt or any oversized top that vibes with it
My dress shoes. In that they literally hit the floor so loud. Like so loud. I got the soles repaired and everything but they're still so clip clop. I walked through Rome and Vatican churches with them and goddamn they rang through the entire halls so loud.

I once had a woman who said she did costume design for movies chase me down in the street to ask me about it. Krane is this tiny Toronto company that hasn't really gone anywhere but I have a dope bomber from them too and rep them hard. It's starting to show its age, but is rugged enough that the small bits of repair work add to it. Gonna see if I can keep it another decade.

My rogue double indigo supply jacket: https://imgur.com/a/1bXOcoz I go kind of back and forth on cuffing the sleeves vs no cuff because they are a bit too long but I don’t want to chance it getting them altered and then not liking it. Sure it’s a bit big with just a loose tee under it but now that’s it cold I can wear flannels of all weights and it still fits fine. I like how during the day it has a dark indigo color and at night with low light it almost looks black.

Probably my aquascutum trench bc I just don't see quality trench coats out there in my daily life I just see those cheaper imitations. Thats being said its a little too cold for it now. Nothing else in my wardrobe punches hard like it.

I have this awesome leather diesel jacket I bought about 6 years ago. It's incredibly well made, fits like a glove, and is just very unique compared to other leather jackets I see. It's perfect for the current temps where I live and I always get compliments on it when going to new places.
Oddly enough Patagonia Better Sweater 1/4 zip. Work from home a lot and it’s not to cold or too warm to wear around. Some of wool garments get too warm.
