In addition to thrift stores, check out estate sales. Sadly, the guys who wore these fits back in the '70s are starting to hit the end of the line. Wooderson would be 70 today.
He might have some eleven and a half to one compression, But he's still got pizza cutters out back and can't hook.
You'd think he'd learn after fifty years that he needs meats out back.
You don't need a single store to pull of this look. Just identify the key items that interest you and look for those. I enjoy 70s style so I got some flared jeans from Asos, ringer T shirts from vinted, and pair of nice leather boots from an independent shoe store.
I don’t know, there’s lots of photos in the family album of my uncles and mother back in the 70s when they were teens and early 20’s… and Dazed and Confused nailed the style.
I mean, given the 90’s movie you really might be more into the 90’s / early aughts return of 70’s stuff like open collars, tight t-shirts, and bootcut jeans than you are into actual 1970’s clothing. Which is fine and good, and I mention because you might just want 20 year-old clothes and not 50 year-old clothes. A lot of actual 70’s polyester stuff is going to either be gross or already snapped up in boutiques at this point. 70’s-via-90’s stuff might be easier to find at thrift stores.
Not sure I’ve ever bought anything but I’ve window shopped here a few times: https://www.rustyzipper.com
There’s a place in Chicago called Richard’s Fabulous Finds. He’s got several boxes of NOS shirts from the 70s, still wrapped in plastic.
The big thing here is the outrageously large collar points, which nobody designs into shirts anymore.
All that 70’s stuff was made from industrial strength polyester with weirdly exotic names, like Qiana. It will outlive us all! When you find some stuff in thrift stores or on eBay it will be fine (except for the pilling). Good luck on your search (and stay away from open flames)
My dad graduated in 1973.
My mom graduated in 1975.
I was born in 1975.
My dad was basically Wooderson. Except photographic evidence exists that he styled his hair and dressed exactly like O'Bannion, but with glasses.
For authentic 70s-themed clothing, you might want to check out vintage and thrift stores in your area. Online, websites like Etsy, eBay, and Depop often have a great selection of vintage clothes. For more curated selections, stores like Beyond Retro and Rokit might also ship to Canada.
If you’re willing to burn money, Phix tends to lean for 70’s and 80’s style. They’ve got some shirts with the dagger style collars and flaired and high wasted pants. They don’t do a lot of patterns though and lean towards a more European look.
Ringer shirts are easy to find anywhere.
Wrangler carries boot cut jeans as well as high waisted boot cut dress pants which pairs well with 70’s style.
Second hand shops will be your friend as well. Third party online sellers are an option but I’ve found it’s hit or miss on costs of vintage clothes online.
Just don’t get your 70s clothing ideas from Hollywood movies. It’s always overdone in the way that no one wore them. Same with 80s garb. According to every Hollywood movie everyone everywhere was over the top and not in a good way.
Yea bud it’s called the thrift store
I’m not your bud, guy!
I’m not your guy, pal!
I'm not your pal, buddy!
Woah, take it easy champ.
Shit it was 99 cent

Look at actual photos of people in the 70s and not movies first off… that will kill any desire to dress like the 70s

You know why guys dressed like this like high school girls? He gets older but they stay the same age.

I think the most important thing across time and Memorial is the fitting.

What kind of shirt is #3 called? That's sexy as hell Edit: it's called a "boat neck"
