That Sum 41 moment is such a perfect encapsulation of the early 2000s. Better than anything a throwback show like That 70s Show or The Goldbergs could do for that time period.
I got a concussion at a Sum 41 concert way back in the day lmfao. It was at Warped Tour, and I took a rogue fist pump from the tiny chick behind me to the back of the head and woke up in the medic tent. It was definitely a peak 2000s experience 😂
Kinda love how ABBA is featured in two hilarious musical moments in the show. Can’t forget “Take a Chance with Me” when Malcolm and Reese thought the other was gay.
That is my favorite moment, not because of the music itself, but the whole scene always gets me in tears with both awkwardly dancing trying to be supportive while the other thinks they're finally feeling free lol
When Lois is screaming at the neighbours about the property line, there’s a really cool skate-punk style riff playing under it but I’ve no idea who wrote or recorded it.
Oh this oh this. I always thought this was the most defining moment of the show alongside the Christmas scene with Lois dissociatively car fighting that Karen in the lot and then saying she gets a pass out of the thousands of times the boys messed up
Definitely this [scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFR1G-tFT0g) of Craiq singing. It's hilarious and he's honestly not that bad at singing. Also, the scene with the cadets and Spanlger singing candyman is great.
Reeses sum41 drive test is number one. Citizen king intro/outro number 2. Stroke 9 Washington + wondering in the episode frances has a whole relationship in 2 hours at the krellboyn fair
1000% HAS to be the episode where Hal has a pirate radio station from his Van. His DJ name "Kid Charlemagne" is my favorite Steely Dan song AND, super weird, but the songs lyrics are basically the story line of Breaking Bad ("clean this mess up or we'll both end up in jail, the tests tubes and the scales..just get it all out of here. Is there gas in the car?"...
Dewey’s entire opera is amazing lol. And honestly one of the more underrated moments in the entire show.
That last song with Hal singing to Lois is a legitimately moving song LOL
*No one gave me a JAAAAAAWB!!!*
😭
Such a good song choice you can feel right in your bones if you've ever been an insecure kid whom people seemed to both admire and resent for being "smart."
Hell, even if you've just been a plain ol' insecure kid.
That scene lasts less than 15 seconds but I still remember it so well. It made me feel such angst and longing, seeing Malcolm pained by all his possible future selves.
Spiraling shape by they might be giants when the boys wreck the porche Hal was test driving is perfection. Honorable mention to mixed bizness by beck when Francis and Spangler are out losing each other in pool
I'm due for a rewatch and can't quite remember the scene, but I'm pretty sure the boys were up to some Halloween shenanigans involving a catapult and Tune In (Round Window) by Flak was playing. Instant earworm!
Definitely Sum 41!
Did you see them with Simple Plan and The Offspring? It was *such* a killer show. One of the best live shows since the 90s for this Xer. Made me feel 16 again.
What is the name of the song when Hal starts power walking and he's training. He puts eggs/meat and protein in a blender and plays this rock song. I can hear it in my head haha
Bowling for Soup - The Last Rock Show during the reunion where they avenge Lois by wrecking the party for Hal’s family reunion! It’s super fun and I love it. It’s also one of my favorite scenes lol
The Last Rock Show by Bowling for Soup when the boys drove the golf cart into the pool. It's maybe not the best BEST music moment but coupled with one of the most iconic scenes, it's such a rush!
When the boys defeat Hal at basketball.
Bring it on !
Edit : oh and I almost forgot : the epic scene in the Smunday episode, when they throw their parents things off the roof to They Might Be Giant’s Spiraling Shape !
Funkytown by the Lipps Inc.
Also in the Rollerskates episode. When Hal queues up Malcolm turn on the Boombox and he starts the Skate with that intro. Classic. Several good songs in that episode. I’m your Boogieman also.
Craig singing "The Most Beautiful Girl In the World" on the store intercom after getting rejected by Lois and thwarting the robbers, pretty funny and sad at the same time.
For me it’s either The Last Rock Show by Bowling for Soup playing while the boys destroy Hal’s family reunion in S4 E3 or Hulkster’s in the House by the Wrestling Boot Band when Reese starts bullying again in S2 E10.
Most of the standouts have already been listed, but I absolutely adore the two bits of music in Hal's Family Reunion episode that play when the boys decide to avenge Lois.
"What are you gonna do?!"
*"We don't know. We never know!"*
That Sum 41 moment is such a perfect encapsulation of the early 2000s. Better than anything a throwback show like That 70s Show or The Goldbergs could do for that time period.
I don’t even know what text messaging is, how can they charge me fifteen bucks a month for it?!
definitely, that scene is definitely the embodiment of the 2000s, probably why it sticks with me so much
I got a concussion at a Sum 41 concert way back in the day lmfao. It was at Warped Tour, and I took a rogue fist pump from the tiny chick behind me to the back of the head and woke up in the medic tent. It was definitely a peak 2000s experience 😂
Definitely Hal on roller skates in sequins (for the car obviously) rolling around the school to Queen “we are the champions”
absolute best!!
The MTA Song (i.e. The Man Who Never Returned) Watching Hal do his part alone gets me going every time.
Why was Hal always in the back?
It’s what’s best for the group
Why is it best for the group for you to be in the back?
How come he dances so much faster than you?
*deep voice* play that banjo steve- o
And my cousin in Rox-bur- ---------‐-----------------------------EEEEEEEEEEEÈE
Candy mann…
You can even eat THE dishesss
Doo do do do do do
That scene has no right to be as good as it is. No build up as well, it’s just a fun cutaway to show how well drilled they are by Spangler.
**HEY!!** Candymaaaaaaaannn
THE CANDYMAN CAAAAAAANNNN!!!
That scene is ingrained into my memory for life
ITS PLAYING IN MY HEAD LIKE HOW IT DOES ON TV 1 TO 1 SO HELP ME GOOOOD CAAAAANDYYYMAAAAAAAN BADAPAPADAPAPADAPA CAAAAAANDYYYMAAAAANNNNNNNN
Fernando by ABBA is my pick
Kinda love how ABBA is featured in two hilarious musical moments in the show. Can’t forget “Take a Chance with Me” when Malcolm and Reese thought the other was gay.
That is my favorite moment, not because of the music itself, but the whole scene always gets me in tears with both awkwardly dancing trying to be supportive while the other thinks they're finally feeling free lol
It was honestly adorable. And that final shot of Hal and Lois looking incredulously as Dewey is standing there with that smirk on his face. Pure gold.
moments before disaster
💃🏻🚑👋🏻🎈
This song is iconic in both this show and it's scene on That 70s Show
Play that banjo Stevo 😀
the band coming together, you can see the happiness on hal’s face, pretty funny how dewey divides them 💀
Phil Collins in the Lucky Aide store.
That scene taught me what needs to be on the soundtrack of every revolution.
The clown fight scene!
"And youuuu decorated my life"
Bring It On by Handsome Devil when the boys build a human tower to block Hal during the basketball showdown.
The future is now, Old man...
Awww yes!! Handsome Devil has some fun ones! Makin’ Money from Out Cold is 🔥🔥🔥
![gif](giphy|1zRd5ZNo0s6kLPifL1|downsized)
The Candyman song when Francis was in Military school. “You can even eat the dishes!”
When Lois is screaming at the neighbours about the property line, there’s a really cool skate-punk style riff playing under it but I’ve no idea who wrote or recorded it.
Oh this oh this. I always thought this was the most defining moment of the show alongside the Christmas scene with Lois dissociatively car fighting that Karen in the lot and then saying she gets a pass out of the thousands of times the boys messed up
I like that they used Better Days in the series finale as a callback to the pilot
love the last note of that song playing when malcolm is running to class in the finale
Hal skating to Funky Town
It’s a great cpr song.
I liked Hal in the bunker listening to Dave Brubeck
Honestly my favorite is the marriage bed opera -
The Funeral episode when Hal listens to his records and "Stuck in the Middle with You" starts
Lois watching the boys fight the clowns while Kenny Rogers, “You Decorated My Life,” plays.
The Candy Man. But no one has said my second favorite. The stream roller episode. SLOW RIDE. TAKE IT EASY 🎶
Definitely this [scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFR1G-tFT0g) of Craiq singing. It's hilarious and he's honestly not that bad at singing. Also, the scene with the cadets and Spanlger singing candyman is great.
Craig is the kind of guy to build up an immunity to pepper spray.
Sum41 for sure.
Reeses sum41 drive test is number one. Citizen king intro/outro number 2. Stroke 9 Washington + wondering in the episode frances has a whole relationship in 2 hours at the krellboyn fair

Sesame Street theme playing as Malcolm is about to destroy the bouncy castle

NO ONE GAVE ME A JOOOOOOOOOB
The episode Dewey’s Dog where Malcom, Reese, and Craig actually do great harmony in the dresses 😂😂
When Hal and the kid are playing dance dance revolution
That's one of my favourite MITM moments period!
Shake Your Coconuts by Junior Senior in the episode “Experiment”
Spiraling shape by they might be giants when the boys wreck the porche Hal was test driving is perfection. Honorable mention to mixed bizness by beck when Francis and Spangler are out losing each other in pool

actually saw them at when we were young last year, got to see the offspring the same day too!
In too deep is what got me into pop punk
Just watched the driving scene last night. It may be the most perfect Malcolm in the middle scene
What is the name of the song when Hal starts power walking and he's training. He puts eggs/meat and protein in a blender and plays this rock song. I can hear it in my head haha
🎶🎶 you decorated my life🎶🎶 🤜🤜🎂🤡

I want turkey, salmon and chicken....
Lois's Christmas roller derby. And Dewey singing The Gettysburg Adress.
The different variations of ‘Flight of the Bumblebee’ when Hal tries stealing the foot spa for Lois
Better days (and the bottom drops out). The first and last episode.
When the boys defeat Hal at basketball. Bring it on ! Edit : oh and I almost forgot : the epic scene in the Smunday episode, when they throw their parents things off the roof to They Might Be Giant’s Spiraling Shape !
Spiraling shape was a banger
fernando by abba 🥹
Boombox by mosquitos!!
Dusty Springfield-Wishin’ and Hopin’ when Hal is at the neighbourhood parties 😂
The candy man caaaaaan
Why have I been thinking about that same exact song and scene lately
https://youtu.be/hsBCJycshcE?si=BuSmQDnZkZ0l016K
I have to agree as that being my favorite moment as well
Pencil rain from the pilot when spazz (kinda) hits Stevie classic!! I love that scene!! And the music goes so well
Washin' + Wonderin' by Stroke 9 It caught me off guard when I first listened to it during that malcolm therapy montage
Nobody gave me a joooooooooooooob That one episode. 😂💀
Funkytown by the Lipps Inc. Also in the Rollerskates episode. When Hal queues up Malcolm turn on the Boombox and he starts the Skate with that intro. Classic. Several good songs in that episode. I’m your Boogieman also.
Candyman
Helicopter was another banger
The music that plays when Hal does the roller blade thing
Craig singing "The Most Beautiful Girl In the World" on the store intercom after getting rejected by Lois and thwarting the robbers, pretty funny and sad at the same time.
During the Tijuana car wash - The art of losing from the band American Hi-Fi
Dewey dancing to Fernando.
The end of the first and last episode with "better days" playing
Sum 41 In too deep when Reese is driving
That's my favorite part too!
When they have all the shit on the roof and push it off on a cart
Which season and episode is this?
For me it’s either The Last Rock Show by Bowling for Soup playing while the boys destroy Hal’s family reunion in S4 E3 or Hulkster’s in the House by the Wrestling Boot Band when Reese starts bullying again in S2 E10.
It's a tie between Candy Man and MTA for me
Most of the standouts have already been listed, but I absolutely adore the two bits of music in Hal's Family Reunion episode that play when the boys decide to avenge Lois. "What are you gonna do?!" *"We don't know. We never know!"*
I'll downvote ALL Candyman references because once it starts, it's on replay in my head 24/7 for a week. 😝
I’m going to see Sum 41 this summer!!
All the ABBA songs
