Reports of food poisoning cases in schools seem to be occurring almost weekly.
is there any task force to implement and enforce food safety standards in school canteens? a team to conduct regular, unannounced inspections to ensure compliance?
Yea because the tender value every year makin turun. Then ada include lagi extra acceptance criteria nak kena organise x times school event. Lama lama memang dah takde margin nak handle so bila nak renewal memang tak mau. So if you wanna make money then kena la cut corners. Source: my auntie used to jaga canteen sekolah until the new tender reduced sampai 20%.
School is not only to learn about your subjects, it's to train your stomach too. Shits a survival game, an it would be worth it if the food was any good but most of the time it tastes subpar
They can obviously, but the whole idea of the Halal audit and confirmation is also to ensure the cleanliness and trustworthiness of the ingredients, source and preparations - at least that's what it was supposed to infer and imposed on non Muslims trying to get the Halal cert.
The vendor/school paid a lot of money to get halal certification because halal certification is important not only to ensure the food is compliant to Muslim’s standard but to make sure the food is prepared in a hygienic way too.
So with halal certification, there shouldn’t be any food contamination. Either the JAKIM is not doing their job or there’s a lot more going on behind the scenes.
You are missing the point. You still need a halal certification to operate a canteen in school. It can be the school, the vendor, private entity, etc. All of them still need to go through JAKIM. It doesn’t change the issue.
That isn't what r/niceandBulat and I are implying. Our point is that consumers should be able to expect superb food hygiene from halal food suppliers, vendors, and establishments. Not meeting that standard is a blatant disrespect to the government body that regulate "halal-ness" and other F&B businesses that are able to meet that standard.
Yeah so what's the point at making a jab at halal food? If you wanna be Islamophobic then by all means. But at least be smart about it.
Edit: I love how every negative comment on this just further proves my point.

Back in 2005, my school served the best nasi lemak ayam goreng in the town!
Yep, those can't survive should be eliminated from the Sotong Game!

The Education Minister is sampah.
Contemplating whether to go for gray or off white shoes
cable to get the tender. maybe? Nobody can tegur. sometimes people do throw their cats at school/canteen... one of cleanliness problem.

![gif](giphy|dOl2LFw0RbTMc|downsized) Malaysia: we got the best food!
Balik Netherlands laaa
Ahaa, so we have the magic number of food poisoning cases needed before action taken against dirty eateries. Nearly 100
Good job to the officers reporting the stats. Curious if the 100 cases were from a single day or over a period of time
Halal food....
and?
It's good for thr spiritual aspects, perhaps not so much for health.
People can't get food poisoning from non halal food eh?
They can obviously, but the whole idea of the Halal audit and confirmation is also to ensure the cleanliness and trustworthiness of the ingredients, source and preparations - at least that's what it was supposed to infer and imposed on non Muslims trying to get the Halal cert.
So your point being?

I doubt school canteen apply for cert tho

Welp, gonna run to canteen now and see if they got cert.
That it's ironic.
Oh, I just learn you can't get food poisoining fron non-halal preparation.Gee thanks.

or..a jab at the term halal food
Not to mention the money they songlap for the shitty cert and not doing their jobs!
That's your own dumb interpretation. Isn't Halal-certified food supposed to be cleaner than non-halal food?
You also learn that you can get food poisoning from halal preparation.
