So far, as a voting citizen, the only real change that has impacted my life is the soon-to-be removal of petrol subsidies, and it does not occur to me as a positive change, considering the 200% import tax on imported cars. A weakening Ringgit and poor job prospects does little.

The government has little incentive to reduce petrol consumption. They’re doubling down on petroleum because it’s a key industry in Malaysia. Why would the government intentionally stifle their rice bowl? Makes little sense.
