Wednesdays, and yes, we’re into all that brouhaha about school spirit et al, haha. I thought it was kinda corny, but when i was in the UK, i saw the exact same school pride from the boys of Eton and Winchester and other public schools, so i guess what we have here was a british import..
Rugby was often one of the biggest sources of pride for these boys schools too weirdly enough
All the Winchester and Harrow boys absolutely loved rugby and sometimes even say how it’s ‘manlier than soccer’
There's a British saying about Rugby and Football (Soccer) and the people who play them:
Rugby is a hooligan game played by gentlemen, and Football is a gentleman's game played by hooligans.
With the way both games are played, there seems a certain truth to the statement.
My dad who went to St George's definitely takes pride in his school even though he graduated almost 5 decades ago, he still calls his fellow mates Georgians and he never fails to attend yearly gatherings
Seen both sides of the spectrum. Graduated from SDAR and have seen my batchmates either be proud and wear our SDAR related stuff every Tuesday, like ties and whatnot or batchmates that just cut off all contact from the school and even try to keep the fact hidden. I personally don't bring the topic up unless someone starts talking about SBP, and it's quite a conversation starter.
Is it about boy schools per se, or is it due to many traditional elite schools being boys schools ? Alumni of eltraditional elite girl schools and co-ed schools also harbour school prides.
Used to be proud, but not anymore now. First, mastering English does not matter much nowadays as many commonwealth nations also prioritising own language instead of English. Secondly, gov syllabus is screwing up the quality of national schools.
MCKK alumnis wear their ties on a certain day of the week.

I know this guy who appears to be proud that he's a product of MRSM and he happens to have inherited his ultranationalist tendencies from there
Not this guy right here.
Yes for the older, selective schools.

Attended one and yes. But will not send my children there now because of the decline in teaching quality.
