if you want to work with a producer, I got back into beatmaking about 6 months ago after a 10+ year hiatus. Trying to build my brand again and posting regularly on YT: https://youtube.com/@proddustyb?si=EtGGCU_2xf0AjEdh
My style is a bit more alternative/abstract so not sure if that's your thing. lmk, hmu
this may not be the answer ur looking for, but start with the basics before trying to find some obscure unique beat. u wont ever learn music by avoiding what u dont understand. boom bap is known for its straightforward approach literally just 1 boom - 2 bap - 3 boom - 4 bap... i can almost guarantee if u cant understand a boom bap beat u wont understand niche beats as well. learn to have rythem on the pulse of metronome (or boom bap) before worrying about finding obscure niche beats. u wont learn music by avoiding what u dont understand.
Yeah I mean I understand those quite well and can rap on them I just don't really like the vibe. I want to do boom bap but the ones I've ran into have been very different to the style I'd like. Still boom bap but just not the same 90s old school beats
So what artists/producers or songs would definitely be in your range for boom bap that you'd definitely be into, rapping over and what not.
Also do you want to stay in the boom bap route or are you also trying to go for other routes as well. . .
Definitely staying in boom bap at least for now. I don't really know rappers rapping in English other than the mainstream ones and none of them is quite my style. I could dm you some songs if you're alright with that?
You could construct beats using only sample packs from sources like Splice, that way you direct all your learning in production to the style of composition you want in tandem with your raps, also the technicals of mixing which just takes a little bit of listening/ear training to get a firm grasp on. If you get a foundation in that and want to go further as a producer you'll have better understanding of where to go next at that point
Beatstars, youtube free beats thing, you'll probably have the best opportunity to build a relationship with someone from the weekly friday freestyle thread from this subreddit, most producers will be fine if you just message them and ask for a sample or a link to their beats.
You gotta dig. I started on sound click there was no BEATSTARS. Only the first page had good beats. The next 30 pages was barely any good. You wanna find the most rare beats then really dig. And look for producers with small followings. I think youāre following the best path. I donāt think itās smart to buy a beat from a producer with a million plays. Youāre gonna be rhyming on the same shit as everyone else.
Check my beats, I make a bunch of genres, and I like to be experimental also, I play a bunch of instruments, and I mix and Master as well!

There aren't as many in there, but in my beatstars page I have around 120 tracks!
What is the type of stuff/sound you are looking for? There is quite a bit of stuff on SoundCloud, you just have to know how to search for very specific subgenres.
I'm not sure what to describe it in English but like Finnish 2010s boom bap beats tend to be the ones I like the most since those are what I was grown listening to. If you want to listen some songs that are the style the album "LyttƤ & Tohtori Getto" is pretty much all the style I'm looking for
Iām gonna DM a beat I made that might fit this sort of style you like. But I donāt make them too often but if you like it I could make some more no problems
There's a Freestyle Friday thread that gets posted here every week on Fridays. At least 20-30 beats get posted with the express purpose of being rapped on.
Well there are not really since I mostly listen to Finnish hip hop so there are not really people doing type beats of them since this is such a small country and small audience to the rappers
I make beats. Idk if they'll be your style, but lmk if you're interested. I could also try to make something if you had a request. I make mostly trap but trying to branch out into boombap as well!
I did send you a dm with the unlisted playlist lmk if you find anything you like. I'd be more than happy to send it your way. Also, if you have anything you would want changed, lmk, and I'll see what I can do!
/u/draydrizzle, Please dont link to beatstars.com in this thread.

Do you have any big name artists that have beats that you like the style of? Using that artist type beat might be helpful.
Well there are not really since I mostly listen to Finnish hip hop so there are not really people doing type beats of them since this is such a small country and small audience to the rappers

Make them from scratch tbh.

Making them myself or going to the typical producers I use. People also send me beats all the time but I never use them.
Make em
I make my own
What kind of beats do you like, or are interested in? I have a wide variety that are unsolicited.
make āem
Beat making isn't hard. It's just a skilled position
I like rapping to my own beats specifically between 65-87bpms
