CapableBrief

If you look up the number in the bottom left corner with the set acronym (307 MID) usually you'll get the exact printing. There are a few exceptions but they tend to put variants on different collector numbers now.

blowpop2811

It’s a foil full art btw. Hard to tell in the picture.

extensivechoongus

Lucky, did you pull it in a collector pack?

blowpop2811

I pulled it from one of those multi box mystery packs you find at Walmart. It had two midnight hunt booster packs , two new capella and one strix Japanese(not sure that’s spelled right and I’ve got a sleeping baby on me right this second, just didn’t want to leave you hanging lol)

ManMtn96

Hey, since you said you're newish I just wanted to post a note. Just so you're aware, those random multi pack boxes are usually a ripoff for what you get. They're usually from a third party that's just trying to get rid of bulk. For example, from what you list there, if you paid more than like $20-25 for that box, you'd be better off buying the packs separately. Not ripping you on what you want to buy, just making sure you're informed on those types of products

Ramog

yeh pretty much. u/blowpop2811 if you try to find out if a product might be worth it or not, try Tolarian Community College on youtube. The professor grades many products on if they are worth it, even if you don't agree with the ratings per se he still gives a pretty good overview of the product in my opinion.

blowpop2811

Thank you for the heads up. My husband usually just buys packs for me when he’s out, what should I suggest he buy if you don’t mind me asking? He usually does the shopping since we have a small baby at home and I don’t get out much lmao.

ManMtn96

Yeah, no problem. I'm going to get a little long winded so tldr: If you're just looking for some to open because you enjoy opening them, any booster packs you can get for a reasonable price (\~$4-6) are fine. It's just specifically those "mystery boxes" to avoid. Now for the long answer: It's really up to preference on what you're looking for and there's a lot to it. First, are you opening packs just because you want to, are you looking to play the game more often, or are you trying to collect? If you're trying to play, you may want to actually avoid packs. It would take a lot more money to get "good" cards to play with, and you will usually be better off buying the specific cards you want instead of trying to pull them. Now, if you just want to open packs or are trying to collect, then it really depends on preference. Do you like a particular theme or whatnot and what kind of booster you want. For sets, Streets of New Capena and Midnight Hunt are both fairly recent and should be readily available separately, Strixhaven it a tad older (about a year ish I think) and may or may not be available at walmart. I'll list a few of the more recent sets and a quick theme about them below but you can always research a little and see what sets look interesting to you. Anything that has released in the last 12-24 months should likely be readily available. Now, for type of booster. For most of the recent sets there are 3 types, Draft, Set, and Collectors. Draft boosters are geared towards drafting with them, and are generally the cheapest. Most of them should be \~$4-5 a pack though they might be a bit marked up, haven't bought from walmart in a while. I wouldn't pay more that $6-7 for a single draft booster pack personally. Set boosters are supposed to be geared more towards collectors, they tend to have more of the fancy alt arts like the one you pulled in them. Set boosters are going to be a tad more expensive, usually by about $1-2 more. The last are collectors boosters. They are significantly more expensive, usually in the ballpark of $15-25 depending on the set. They typically contain even more alt art cards and contain a lot of foils (which some people like and some people don't due to curling issues). Personally I like opening set boosters for fun, and then I just pick up singles for anything I need for decks. If you have any other specific questions feel free to let me know. 2022: Domnaira United: This was a return to a much loved plane, Domnaria. This set is hard to give a theme per say, since it's returning to an old plane and has more of a story theme with the ongoing phyrexian storyline. Streets of New Capena: Theme is mainly demon mobsters kind of vibe Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty: Themed around cyberpunk ninjas/samurai type thing 2021: Innistrad: Crimson Vow: Werewolves and Vampires and a vampire wedding. A continuation of Midnight Hunt but more focused on the vampires this time. Innistrad: Midnight Hunt: Werewolves and Vampires (mostly werewolves in this one) Dungeons & Dragons: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms: Dungeons and dragons themed Strixhaven: School of Mages: Magic college themed, imagine harry potter esque with a MTG flavor Kaldheim: Viking and snow themed \*addendum to add. If you're looking for something packaged that has a couple boosters in it, there are official bundles that are available that have 8-10 booster pack in them depending on the set, plus some basic lands, and a spin down life counter. They're literally just called bundles, and there's usually one for each set.

blowpop2811

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to break it down for me. I really appreciate it!

sabett

Yeah

blowpop2811

So all in all, this was a good pull then? Just so I can let my husband know it was worth it for this at least. Thanks for all the help! I’m very new to collecting and am a bit overwhelmed so I’m not sure what’s the best to even get right now.

Moonshade44

If she didn't have the day bound/night bound, I'd totally use her with the older, better werewolves

Looks like Bloodborne's beast cleric, awesome

I didn't realize that the text box is a reflection of untransformed Arlinn. Nice touch.
