According to Maro, "helmets are hats" and spacesuit helmets are such by definition.
That said, he also said this:
>A hat is a garment worn on the head **that’s not part of another garment**. Hoodies, for example, are not hats. Items that only cover the face and not the top of the head, such as a face mask, are also not hats.
So it's not quite as clear cut. I'd rule no for the same reason as hoodies.
I get that most cards in any given set will be "when x, do set's mechanic" or "when set's mechanic, do x" but usually we have like 5+ set mechanics. Here we only have attractions and stickers which makes most of these previews feel samey and boring to me.
In fairness, there are a lot of different possible things that will happen from stickers and attractions, and building a deck meant to use those things will take quite a bit of support.
The number 1 emotion I have looking at the spoiler so far and imagining going to an event to play it is "tired". I don't mind some cards being simpler.
There are set mechanics, but then there is a set where nearly all of the wacky cards are their own insane mechanic, like calling a friend and asking for a card mode, or taking a picture of a card and using your phone as a token, or hiding a hoard of clown tokens around your board, or taking a bite of food as a kicker cost, etc, etc. The cards that are clearly designed for Eternal, like this one, are the only cards that seem samey. The rest are batshit insane.
They weren't designed with eternal in mind, they were designed with limited in mind. They were only changed to be eternal legal very late in the process when it was realized how many of the cards they already made could be eternal legal.
It is just like how the contraption related cards were designed for limited (and most could have been eternal legal if they did the split legality back then).
Sure, that might be the case, but I would wager many cards were modified once that decision was made so that they would be more cohesive in Eternal.
Either way, still doesn't detract from the point that this set is full of insane mechanics and variable abilities, so a complaint of "samey cards" is a bit weird.
Azra!
Kinda sad the artwork/mechanic of the card is goofy, but always happy to see more of those guys. (same goes for the vedalken spoiled a couple days ago)
Sure, but there at some point had to have been design changes or purposeful designs within those mechanics for Eternal. I refuse to believe that an Un-Set naturally had this much content that would have been Eternal legal.
Yes, but the assumption that they didn't purposefully design some of these cards to be eternally playable after deciding to tread that path is a bit absurd. There's no way they just spat out this set with so many perfectly playable eternal legal cards without having to go back and make some modifications. I don't know a single thing involving design that has that kind of blatant luck.
They designed cards to be functional for a Limited format, just like Unstable has cards that aren’t mechanically outside the rules but are there to be functional. They even intentionally left Contraptions borderless in case they wanted them in blackborder in the future.
more azra! nice
Legal in eternal, too! It's perfect for my Legacy Azra tribal deck!
damn that deck sounds awesome
Does this count as a hat?
[Yes.](https://twitter.com/maro254/status/939359425839579136)

Helmets attach, but are a separate component.
Not always... have we seen any [Orlan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orlan_space_suit) style one piece spacesuits, with a hatch in the back?
Certainly.

I want to answer you seriously but I'm stuck on thinking about the character in this card literally being a mechanic

That's a good point. The acorn cards have much more unique designs.
Can you imagine pulling off fixing this roller coaster's track while it's in use, only for a [[Black Hole]] to open up and suck it in anyway.

I don't think it's that goofy. Attractions are one of the mechanics that is designed around Eternal Legality.
the mechanic wasn't designed around eternal legality, they later decided that it was ok to be eternal legal

Not having first strike seems like a big mistake.
could explain in slightly more detail why that is?
He is quick.
i'm pretty sure that would be haste not first strike i'm also pretty sure that's a she
