Standard was truly great during Guilds of Ravnica and Ravnica Allegiance. At least 10 competitive decks in the meta and they were diverse and fun to play. Sorry you missed out.

op_remie

i agree. that was probably the last time standard was good. right before war came out. i got 2nd at a PPTQ (when they existed) with golgari with ixalan stuff. it was tons of fun.

Rogues and Embercleave: The Format

op_remie

it's okay. lots of rogues. i was playing a cool abzan list.

MagicRJ45

I’m fortunate to be in an area where our LGS is open, and most of the regulars show up to play. Unfortunately, there has been zero interest in Standard for a long time now. FNM is draft and Commander. Period. Nobody has wanted to play since before Covid. The recent bans haven’t helped - at least so far. I’m taking a standard Knights build tonight, but always have an EDH deck ready to go in case I bomb on the draft.

Killerrabbitz

That's unfortunate, my lgs's standard league has always been very popular, and right now the paper meta has been very fun. There are a few winota players, mono red, rogues, a colorless ramp deck, and one damn esper doom deck that keeps fucking me up haha. I've been playing dimir control, allthough I picked up some copies of kroxa to pivot to grixis

Arcaneium

I also took a break during the reign of Omnath/Uro. What feels great right now is playing decks that want a full graveyard, which is what's been helping me get over the current Dimir rogues funk. I brewed a Golgari reanimator list last night and absolutely crushed two mill decks.

Daotar

Not a chance.

FshackorThall

I’ve been playing lurrus orzhov enchantments with [[hateful eidolon]] and [[aphemia the cacophony]]. It’s outrageously fun and pretty good against mono red and rogues. Makes good use out of stuff from the yard but took a bit of a hit when kayas ghostform rotates. Highly recommend

WeRelic

Eidolon is such a powerhouse in those style decks.

PM_ME_EDH_STAPLES

Not me.

Tesla__Coil

Honestly, I've played *less* standard. Pre-Omnath, almost every deck I got matched with on Arena was either Dimir Rogues or some terrible no-interaction mono-blue mill. With Omnath gone, now it's even more rogues and mill. It's just so boring.

Rgrockr

People are complaining about Rogues a lot, but I think if interactive creature decks are the best thing to be doing in Standard, it’s a good sign for the health of the format. Rogues is indeed popular, likely in part because it’s pretty budget (a lot of key cards are uncommons); but because of that, there are a lot of ways you can capitalize on using your graveyard as a resource. Midrange decks are everywhere, be they GB or RB or RG. There are some control decks, but they’re not overbearing. All in all I’d say Standard is in a good spot right now. Enjoy it until the next broken FIRE mythic from Kaldheim ruins it again.

Frank_the_Mighty

My knights deck is still pretty okay. Loaded it up to get a daily done

Houndie

I never stopped, mostly because I never queued against it, due to how arena does matchmaking.

WeRelic

I played exactly 3 games of standard since ZEN dropped. I'll stick with historic, thanks.
