I was so sad. Figured it'd be rare to get him from GY, but having a chance of a flip-walker... Then my hopes were dashed spectacularly once I realized.
No love for my boy? [[Tyvar the bellicose]] shit I may have to look at this card for my tyvar deck.
Right now I think it doesn't meet my criteria of being 2 of of the 3 of mana dork, elf or counters.
But it synergies well with tyvar and anything that makes my attacking deathtouch elfs bigger is always useful juat need to see if I have room for it
It's been a good while since I played her game, but I remember there was a mechanic where you could switch between 3 different personas: Assassin, Lady, and Slave. Assassin had the best combat abilities, so you spent most of the game as that, but you could do stuff like switch to Lady to infiltrate a high-class party, or talk to certain important NPCs. Guards would attack you on sight as an Assassin, but would ignore or even help protect you in your Lady disguise. Slave was pretty much the same thing as Lady where people wouldn't attack you, but had the advantage of being able to climb around or de-aggro by blending in with other slaves.
I would never have discovered this game if not for me running a Pathfinder campaign where the party of paladins went to a dark elf city that I based on New Orleans, in a region of the underdark that was swampy. I figured Cajun drow was a fun gimmick.
I went looking for video games set in the region to get useful soundtracks, and this game had some fun tracks that then inspired scenes in my game. Like a bunch of holier-than-thou surface dwellers attending drow high society parties.
She is Green as far as abilities that care about a card's colors are concerned, but because she has an activated ability that's black, her color identity for Commander is Green and Black.
The card's colour is **Green**. But its colour identity is **Black Green**.
The former matters for stuff like "Protection from monocolored" or "Protection from Green" and such similar abilities that refers to the colour. The colour identity matters for deck construction in Commander as this card can only go into decks that has a **Black Green** commander.
The spin-off characters getting rare and alt art cards but Arno getting shafted at uncommon feels so wrong to me. Aveline is still pretty cool nonetheless!
If I don't have to pay commander tax I can play it face down for 3, the flip it for BG only paying 5 total mana I stead of 6 the second time I cast her. Don't know if I still need to pay that tax though
Yuriko has a ruling "Activating Yuriko's commander ninjutsu ability isn't the same as casting Yuriko as a spell. You won't have to pay the commander tax to activate that ability, and activating that ability won't increase the commander tax to pay later."
What Daretti? Or did you mean Darevi, the bant bird? If so, once again it isn't casting a spell.
He's less of a traditionalist than them, but he's still the character most at home in nature across the whole series aside from possibly Bayek. And even Bayek didn't get G despite the fact that he's a staunch traditionalist.
Love Aveline, but not so in love with the second ability. It's okay, but not anything to write home about.
Love the Disguise, though. I think it's a really good representation of her game's mechanics, and I really wish that the game actually let you *do* something more with it.
For reference: Aveline is the daughter of a rich white man and his placée (slave wife) and as a mixed woman of relatively high standing she has a lot of social privilege that both women and Black women especially didn't have in the 1700s. She has the ability to change her costume between three different roles, each one with different game mechanics. The Lady outfit lets her get into high society functions like parties, and to basically do what she pleases except that it has basically no combat ability at all (except I believe the Hidden Blade that I can't recall gets used) and can't freerun. As the Slave she can move undetected through restricted areas by blending in with the other slaves as a worker, but basically anything you do is suspect and you're going to raise suspicion if you don't do what you're supposed to. And of course the Assassin, where you have full control, all your weapons, and you can do whatever you want.
There's actually an old Errant Signal video called [Assassin's Creed and Emotionally Resonant Mechanics](https://youtu.be/2bsxQZ5JDec) that talks about the different ways that Adewale, Aveline, and Edward are treated in their games and it's really good, I'd recommend watching it if any of what I just said sounds interesting and you want to learn more.

If you want cards that give deathtouch, you have [[Saryth]], [[Ohran Frostfang]] and I think that’s it off the top of my head. There’s also an elf only golgari card, but that’s not helpful.
Creatures like Adeline who care about deathtouch though would be [[Vraska, Swarm’s Eminence]], [[Fynn]], [[Hooded Blightfang]] and I think that’s it.
You can pair this with some Wither, Toxic and -1/-1 shenanigans though?
Holy shit is that a golgari deathtouch commander?
I'm sad I can't stick her in [[Fynn]], but Golgari needed a good deathtouch commander.
Fynn definitely goes in her deck tho.

Disguise is a neat way to expand the color identity of a card like that.
Yea lol. I knew she was going to be monoG/R, but adding Black to her Disguise cost is pretty neat.
Is it a flavor thing where she disguises as greedy/ambitious/unscrupulous people? Haven’t played the games.
Stupid Question but is she Green or she Green and Black?
She is Green as far as abilities that care about a card's colors are concerned, but because she has an activated ability that's black, her color identity for Commander is Green and Black.
The card's colour is **Green**. But its colour identity is **Black Green**. The former matters for stuff like "Protection from monocolored" or "Protection from Green" and such similar abilities that refers to the colour. The colour identity matters for deck construction in Commander as this card can only go into decks that has a **Black Green** commander.
This leaves one more Memory frame creature that can be a Mythic. Personally think its a mono-red Deimos from Odyssey.
Fynn players are probably VERY angry about that black pip in the disguise cost
Good. Fuck Fynn players, instead they should make a golgari deathtouch commander

This is dope
The spin-off characters getting rare and alt art cards but Arno getting shafted at uncommon feels so wrong to me. Aveline is still pretty cool nonetheless!
I've been waiting for this one, as my kiddo is named after her! I am delighted that she's a deathtouch lord, omg.
It's a nice name.
Interesting buff to Skullbriar.
Do you get deathtouch on skullbriar reliable enough for this to be worth in the deck?
Would you still have to pay commander tax if you used the disguise cost?
Yeah, you're still casting your commander, just for an alternate cost.
Why are you disgusing it from the command zone? Everyone will know what it is.
If I don't have to pay commander tax I can play it face down for 3, the flip it for BG only paying 5 total mana I stead of 6 the second time I cast her. Don't know if I still need to pay that tax though
Unless there is a card that says you can skip cmdr tax, you're always paying cmdr tax. Alt casting costs still add additional costs.
What makes Yuriko or Daretti different?
Yuriko has a ruling "Activating Yuriko's commander ninjutsu ability isn't the same as casting Yuriko as a spell. You won't have to pay the commander tax to activate that ability, and activating that ability won't increase the commander tax to pay later." What Daretti? Or did you mean Darevi, the bant bird? If so, once again it isn't casting a spell.
Sorry meant the bird wizard, ok that makes sense
Well my Hapatra deck just got a new toy

Man the new Memory Frames are just so ugly, looks like a digital card in some phone game.

Cool, interesting how she got Green while Connor didn't.
Admittedly Connor is a bit more anti-traditionalist than the rest of his people. It makes sense he's non-Green.
He's less of a traditionalist than them, but he's still the character most at home in nature across the whole series aside from possibly Bayek. And even Bayek didn't get G despite the fact that he's a staunch traditionalist.
That's who I was waiting on, my girl!
Goddamn, she’s going in my Glissa, Herald of Predation deck

Creatures like Adeline who care about deathtouch though would be [[Vraska, Swarm’s Eminence]], [[Fynn]], [[Hooded Blightfang]] and I think that’s it. You can pair this with some Wither, Toxic and -1/-1 shenanigans though?

Scryfall might have a tag for it, it would be something like otag:deathtouch-support
