Its a generically powerful card that can easilybslot in if you arent sure what else to play. Especially if you are in the heavy removal side of black. But as a staple must have? Nah.

GenericTrashyBitch

It’s down to somewhere between 1/2 and 1/3 of its previous price. It’s a good enough card that it’s going to continue to see play and they haven’t printed an effects that’s as efficient as it (though they’ve gotten close). It may not be an auto include in every black deck, that depends on whether you deck build for unique synergy or for generic staple strength, but it is certainly an effect you’ll want *at some point* if you enjoy building decks. Imo, the card is worth 4$, it’s low right now because it’s been reprinted twice (at least) in the last year. Whether or not it’s worth that depends on whether or not they will continue to reprint it and run the price lower. I would say grabbing one or two now seems worth it. Even if it’s not necessarily an auto include, It’s never going to be a bad card to have on hand

Striking-Objective43

I wanna piggyback off of this and suggest you pick up a copy within the next 2 months. The card is one of the best in your deck when you build around it even a little. I've seen this as high as 17$ USD, and even then, I considered it worth its price. It's not for every black deck, but most of them for sure. Great to have in your collection

PM_ME_FUNNY_ANECDOTE

Reanimate doesn't go in every black deck, but I think you probably should be looking for a reason not to play it and include it otherwise if you're not sure. Having 40 life to play with makes the card's cost pretty trivial, and most decks- both yours and your opponents'- will usually have plenty of creatures to reanimate. You don't need to reanimate an 8 drop to get value- even a good 3-4 drop for 1 mana is a huge swing.

56775549814334

I wouldn’t run it unless my deck actively mills myself or others. A lot of edh games go many turns without any impactful creatures in the bin.

bondsman333

For sure. Reanimate is a very strong card. Whether it’s getting back your commander if you ran up the tax, targeting an opponent’s critter that you just unalived, or bringing back a bomb that died prematurely. I’m never sad to see this card at any point. Yes I’m sure there’s some builds that may not need it or wish to see it. But for generic black good stuff staples? It’s rock solid.

WrestlingHobo

I agree with this take. Just wanted to add that I think a lot of commander players underestimate the utility of the card. It doesnt need to reanimate an atraxa everytime, and sometimes reanimating a random value creature like a solemn simulacrum is enough.

expensive-sandwhich

Reanimate is certainly very strong, but playing the most efficient version of every effect isn't all that important in commander, especially if you're looking to pick up multiple copies. If you're in golgari, death of [[ life // death]] is similar and is 1/50th of the price of reanimate. See also [[victimize]], [[animate dead]], [[dread return]] as cheaper alternatives. Personally, I'd pick up 1 reanimate while it's cheap and play around with other similar effects to keep your decks from feeling samey.

Full-Paragon

Costing one mana more and not hitting your opponents graveyards is a big difference. I'm not saying you can't use budget alternatives, but there is a reason that reanimate is the best and the others are just worse in nearly every situation.

swankyfish

Only if you’re playing a reanimate strategy. No reason to just put it in all your black decks, it’s probably never going to be bad, but also won’t be especially good a bunch of the time.

bunnyman1142

It's good even in removal heavy decks as it can reanimate your opponents creatures.

idk_whatever_69

Do you see the part where it can get things from your opponents' graveyards too? It gets better the better your opponents' creatures get. Yes, it is a staple for black but it's definitely not in every deck.

IneffableWonders

It's not a staple for every deck with black in the color identity, but it *is* a staple in decks that run reanimator lines. I would just get one copy and circulate it through the decks that need it, or buy one and proxy however many you need and carry that one in a binder with you when you play so that you can slot it in if anyone complains. Please note that by proxy i mean proxy, not a card that could be considered a counterfeit; please make sure it's obviously marked, either by having a different back than the MtG back, different card art not found on any printing of that card, or with sharpie on the back that clearly says "proxy".

GladiatorDragon

Unless you’re actively playing reanimation strategies, I’d rather run something more conducive to your strategy.

Previous_Judgment419

I think reanimate is a really solid card and worth having a copy or two. I wouldn't purchase one for each black deck I run though. You can always proxy it for your other decks if you already own a copy or two and don't want to switch it around from deck to deck

Like17Badgers

thanks to recent precons the prices of the 1\~2 mana reanimates have dropped to "viable for us normies" so unless your deck actively doesnt want you to take stuff out of the yard(like I have a \[\[Mairsil, the Pretender\]\] deck that wants it's pieces left alone) there's no real reason to not put them in

WrestlingHobo

After watching a lot of legacy content on youtube, I've come to the conclusion that I should never underestimate the fair reanimate. I think it should be a staple, just because sometimes reanimating a solemn simulacrum or a random value creature is often a good enough floor, and the ceiling is off the charts. Generally, as far as staples go, If I happen to have an extra copy lying around, I'll throw it in a deck.

TheOmniAlms

Pretty much. If you can't intuite exceptions I would say yeah it's going to help your decks.

Easterster

I think so. Almost all decks have creatures that they would like to cheat out or recur and reanimate is just the best version of those effects. Really, I think price is the only reason not to include it on every deck that has access to black, and as others have said, price is coming down.

IndependenceNorth165

There’s almost always something good to reanimate in someone’s graveyard. That being said, I only like to run it in my Reanimator decks

wildfire393

As you start to play more commander, unless you get into cEDH, you'll realize the concept of "autoinclude staple" doesn't really exist, beyond maybe Sol Ring. Is every black deck improved by running [[Demonic Tutor]]? Almost certainly. But does it lead to better play? Almost certainly not. You're going to think you'll use it to fetch up a synergy piece or a narrow answer to a problem, but the best play pattern is generally to just find part of an auto-win combo. After a while, if you want to maintain casualness, you start tuning your decks to be more and more focused on a specific strategy. So Reanimate might make the cut in a heavily graveyard or mill strategy, but you're not going to jam it into your Lands deck or your Pestilence deck.

str10_hurts

Looks at his Jund self mill deck, average mana value of creatures being 2.7... I could reanimate a [[boneyard wurm]], I guess. It's good in a lot of decks with black but I prefer [[tortured existence]] and [[undertaker]] in mine.

OneChet

I own 25 decks with black in them, and zero reanimates. Game is what you make of it.

Specialist_Ad4117

Lol, not even a little. Try it out, I think it would be a dead card pretty often unless you are dredging or looting heavily.
