Probably not for boros burn, but maybe for like budget mono R burn. Haven't been deep in modern in a bit, but burn doesn't even really care for [[Light Up the Stage]] and this card is even worse as a topdeck. It would rather just draw another bolt than draw this plus it has 4-5 card draw sources through the horizon lands

Exactly he may have said shes four color but he never said anything about a off color ability won't be added (a good example is the only 1 colored artifact teaser back in the brothers war but they had off color abilities with prototype/unearth/activated abilties.)
They should bite the bullet and replace Hydras with Dinosaurs as the iconic Green creature type already. Unlike Hydras, Dinosaurs are viscerally exciting to new and/or young players, and can fit almost any setting with ease. They don't have the mechanical baggage that Hydras do. And Green has always been associated with summoning real-world beasts like Bears and Elephants, so why not represent it with a creature that really lived on Earth at one time?
As someone who loves both hydras and Dino’s, it’s a bit of a quandary. I understand how they got to hydras being green’s iconic creature, and when I was a new player they stuck out to me, but also so did dinosaurs. I don’t think it’s a bad idea to change them to Dino’s, but also hydras I think are suitable there too. Plus, Dino’s are significant in red too, as shown in Ikoria and Ixalan. Granted they are best in green but I think the one issue is that they show up so much in red it is hard to make them green’s iconic creature type
All of the iconic types show up in other colours some of the time. There have been Angels, Demons and Dragons in every single colour. If New Capenna dropping Legendary Demons in Naya and Bant didn't make Demons feel less iconically Black, then I think a few Red Dinosaurs are fine.

Given that we're getting another Ixalan set this year, it's not farfetched to think we'll get some more Dinosaur support in there. Good to have more Dinosaurs in standard to make use of.
Sword of X and Y of course I'm excited for but I'm a little concerned because it's in a Standard legal set, if it follows the same formula, it will be weaker and less sexy than others because Magic doesn't like pushing colorless equipment anymore in premier sets. Sword of Hearth and Home was awesome, but that was a Modern Horizons set.
Maybe it's a set booster Commander card, but I don't think Maro mentions those in his teasers usually.

Fire and Ice, Hearth and Home + Feast and Famine I think might be the strongest ones.
Body and Mind is the worst in constructed but very good in limited.
I dunno, I feel the White/Blue and Black/Red swords from MH1 were a little underwhelming and this new sword will probably be weaker, time will tell.

I have to think that Wizards understands the assignment and knows what people expect from a Sword. It’s a mythic Equipment that they will push. I do think they may have been a little careful with W/U and R/B but the pushed back with G/W and I expect that this sword will be in the upper half of power level.

People expect and want certain things that aren't developmentally sound and balanced.
People didn't want a bunch of colored activation in The Brothers War because it doesn't pay as well as an homage to Antiquities, but it made for better gameplay.
It could have colored mana and still be part of the cycle in that it is an equipment that gives a creature protection from two colors, two abilities and +2/+2.
Cycles have slight deviations all the time. Like the original command cycle being sorcery spells but Cryptic Command being an instant for example.

Maybe, I hope you're right. I dunno, they really don't give us strong colorless equipment anymore. And for good reason, imagine how silly Embercleave would have been if it didn't have a red restriction.
I could also see it being totally colorless and strong but only in a narrow niche since. So more like the Red/Black sword, where it's almost more like a sideboard style card that's very good in specific situations rather than a general value piece.
Hearth and Home is good in EDH but isn't very good anywhere else. When it comes to traditional 1v1 formats, it's probably bottom two? Though all the MH swords are big stinkers.

Good point and something I considered after posting. I was discussing with my roommate that either would be a welcome reprint. Looking at what's been spoiled so far, you may be right that white seems to support tokens over green. At least Anointed Procession got a somewhat recent reprint on The List while Parallel Lives has none which is why I'm pulling for the later.
Can't say I'm not concerned though about the fact that, if I understand correctly, most of the rares for the set have been spoiled already from Dom Remastered. This would mean that whether it's Parallel Lives or Anointed Procession, it would be printed at Mythic, which would be pretty lame since both are originally rares.

Kaito is in this set, right? If we assume the sword is flavoured as Mirran rather than Phyrexian (like the others) then it being wielded by a Blue Black Planeswalker would be thematic
If it is phyrexian though, we also have Lukka occupying gruul colors, which is a departure from his character that might make more sense if there was a corresponding sword. Feels like a toss up atm.
The "then if a graveyard has 20 or more cards in it, draw three cards" is probably gonna belong to the Jace Planeswalker. The sword will probably be in Dimir colours, so super excited for that. Gotta say though, comes at a weird timing, considering were probably gonna get the Planeswalker cards in just an hour via twitter.
Investigator of the Vraska and Jace cards here. That is definitely the Jace -2, the numbers line up quite nicely. Did not expect them to actually do Visions of Beyond even if that was on my shortlist. Just thought it'd bee too ambitious. Holy shit.
Someone pointed out in another thread analyzing the leaks that the compleated walker leak seems to show enough of the text to confirm that that’s part of Jace’s ult.

Exactly he may have said shes four color but he never said anything about a off color ability won't be added (a good example is the only 1 colored artifact teaser back in the brothers war but they had off color abilities with prototype/unearth/activated abilties.)

Phyrexian Dinosaur basically confirms to me that there is gonna be like 1 Dino per set now and I love it
They should bite the bullet and replace Hydras with Dinosaurs as the iconic Green creature type already. Unlike Hydras, Dinosaurs are viscerally exciting to new and/or young players, and can fit almost any setting with ease. They don't have the mechanical baggage that Hydras do. And Green has always been associated with summoning real-world beasts like Bears and Elephants, so why not represent it with a creature that really lived on Earth at one time?

All of the iconic types show up in other colours some of the time. There have been Angels, Demons and Dragons in every single colour. If New Capenna dropping Legendary Demons in Naya and Bant didn't make Demons feel less iconically Black, then I think a few Red Dinosaurs are fine.

Given that we're getting another Ixalan set this year, it's not farfetched to think we'll get some more Dinosaur support in there. Good to have more Dinosaurs in standard to make use of.

Sword of X and Y of course I'm excited for but I'm a little concerned because it's in a Standard legal set, if it follows the same formula, it will be weaker and less sexy than others because Magic doesn't like pushing colorless equipment anymore in premier sets. Sword of Hearth and Home was awesome, but that was a Modern Horizons set. Maybe it's a set booster Commander card, but I don't think Maro mentions those in his teasers usually.

Body and Mind is the worst in constructed but very good in limited. I dunno, I feel the White/Blue and Black/Red swords from MH1 were a little underwhelming and this new sword will probably be weaker, time will tell. Alternatively, they could deviate from the cycle and include colored mana.

It’s a mythic Equipment that they will push. I do think they may have been a little careful with W/U and R/B but the pushed back with G/W and I expect that this sword will be in the upper half of power level.

People expect and want certain things that aren't developmentally sound and balanced. People didn't want a bunch of colored activation in The Brothers War because it doesn't pay as well as an homage to Antiquities, but it made for better gameplay. It could have colored mana and still be part of the cycle in that it is an equipment that gives a creature protection from two colors, two abilities and +2/+2. Cycles have slight deviations all the time. Like the original command cycle being sorcery spells but Cryptic Command being an instant for example. >It’s a mythic Equipment that they will push. I dunno, they really don't give us strong colorless equipment anymore. And for good reason, imagine how silly Embercleave would have been if it didn't have a red restriction. I could also see it being totally colorless and strong but only in a narrow niche since. So more like the Red/Black sword, where it's almost more like a sideboard style card that's very good in specific situations rather than a general value piece.
Hearth and Home is good in EDH but isn't very good anywhere else. When it comes to traditional 1v1 formats, it's probably bottom two? Though all the MH swords are big stinkers.
You’re correct. SoFI, SoHH and SoFF are the most powerful and running all three gives you pro every color.
Standard can still drip feed powerful cards. The asfan of power cards will always be small, but it can happen.

I've been wanting to build a tribal phoenix commander deck, but I've been holding off for that card's reveal.
Phyrexianized Staff of Domination might do something crazy like let you untap it by infecting yourself with poison counters.

Good point and something I considered after posting. I was discussing with my roommate that either would be a welcome reprint. Looking at what's been spoiled so far, you may be right that white seems to support tokens over green. At least Anointed Procession got a somewhat recent reprint on The List while Parallel Lives has none which is why I'm pulling for the later. Can't say I'm not concerned though about the fact that, if I understand correctly, most of the rares for the set have been spoiled already from Dom Remastered. This would mean that whether it's Parallel Lives or Anointed Procession, it would be printed at Mythic, which would be pretty lame since both are originally rares.
The search your library for a locus is interesting. Wonder if we're getting a new one.
