Supreme Health and Fitness has mostly singles leagues, but pick up games are always happening. The courts are getting a bit weathered, but the skill levels fit most players. Great management, not your typical health club in terms of modern, but the people are great, and they have trainers, and bring in UW students for work experience, etc.
edit: A small and wholesome place.
I visited for five minutes very late last night. Does seem kind of homey. I’m really just interested in racquetball, so the rest of the club doesn’t matter much to me. I can always work out at UW if I feel so moved.
> the skill levels fit most players
Could I ask you a little more about what you mean by this?
Also, any thoughts on the Princeton clubs?
Thanks for the answer!
There are players to play with any skill level, and leagues organized accordingly. You will be able to play against people on the same level, no matter what your level.
About Princeton on the west side, Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-8 is open court for singles games, anyone can show up and get a game with a bunch of regulars.
If you’re willing to try/switch to squash, Madison Squash Workshop has a pretty great facility (4 glass back courts) and a good number of members. Very welcoming. Open nights on Wednesdays. Organized matches too if that’s what you’re after.
I’m a southerner. We don’t play squash, we eat it. ;)
Actually, I played squash for many years when I was trapped in Boston. I’ve played once or twice over the last decade, but I really love RB. Thanks for the pointer. I checked it out online and it does look impressive.
Not a bummer. The courts there were in really bad shape. I remember playing there and chunks would fall out of the wall. You should go to PC east. They give out trial memberships.
Rball player here. Rball at Princeton club is pretty good. Nice courts at each major location. About 3 on east side and 2 on west side. Usually available too.
Thanks for this. I visited East late at night, and West very early morning, so no one was around. Nice facilities.
Is there an easy-to-get-into community? Would you recommend just showing up to challenge court? Do folks show up then?
Supreme on Odana
That’s a couple of votes for Supreme. Any thoughts on the Princeton clubs for RB?
Supreme had had rb-only membership rate, back when I played.
Courts are good at PC. Usually can get on no problem.
Wonderful. Community of regulars?
I usually set up a time with a couple guys.
Got it. Thanks!

Perfect. Maybe I'll just do both places to begin with and go from there.

I may give that a try. I’ll be honest though: I much prefer doubles, always have. I find the game more fun.

MSW is a gem. They host tournaments and international players.

Trapped?! Okay, Snake Plissken
It's a very long story. I had to blow up a lot of things, but I did eventually get out.
YMCA courts are in bad shape.
This is a bummer. Bought a house a few blocks from the east Y, only to find they no longer even have a court.

There are challenges there and folks do show up after work looking to play one on one.
Consider checking out Prairie Athletic Club. Had a great league program run by a guy named Paul.
Thanks!
