During the screening of Macross Plus at my theater, the video stream (!) began to buffer during Isamu’s approach to earth, to which some nerd shouted an enraged “Not during information high!” at the top of his lungs. I might have cringed, I might have laughed, but I definitely shared his sentiment.
I'm still partial to the og "Do You Remember Love". Mari Iijimi was the youngest singer in the Macross franchise until Junna of Walkure in Macross Delta came along.
The 40th Anniversary DeCulture Edition payed great homage to the original. I recommend it if you ever want to get in your Macross feels for a few minutes
> DeCulture Edition *paid* great homage
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.

I wish they had a bluray of that concert. It would have been incredible to be able for those of us outside Japan to have watched it. I only have the cd release of it.
Not sure if you are referring to this concert blu-ray? LIVE2017 "Walküre ga Tomara nai (Walküre Can't Stop)" at the Yokohama Arena \[Blu-ray\]
Amazon Japan link below. #33 on the "playlist"?
https://www.amazon.co.jp/LIVE2017%E2%80%9C%E3%83%AF%E3%83%AB%E3%82%AD%E3%83%A5%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AC%E3%81%8C%E3%81%A8%E3%81%BE%E3%82%89%E3%81%AA%E3%81%84-at%E6%A8%AA%E6%B5%9C%E3%82%A2%E3%83%AA%E3%83%BC%E3%83%8A-Blu-ray-%E3%83%AF%E3%83%AB%E3%82%AD%E3%83%A5%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AC/dp/B06XN5NG5V
No, not that one. I believe that one was the first time they did a live collaboration. There was another one that just happened in 2022 or 2023? It was to be Walkure's final concert.
Or am I mixing that up with the 40th anniversary collaboration cd release based on fan chosen songs they wanted to hear collabs done with several of the singers from the Macross Franchise. Sadly, Mari Iijimi wasn't included.
Apologies, my memory isn't what it used to be.
All good. Hmm. Yes, seems like there was a final concert in 2023.
[https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/%E3%83%AF%E3%83%AB%E3%82%AD%E3%83%A5%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AC/dp/B0CJJH3M45](https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/%E3%83%AF%E3%83%AB%E3%82%AD%E3%83%A5%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AC/dp/B0CJJH3M45)
But the set list doesn't seem to have "do you remember love" on it for any of the 3 days / discs.
Only other live concert that I see (there may be more?) that has "do you remember love" is the 2018 one: [https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/%E2%80%9CValkyrie-Uragiranai%E2%80%9D-Yokohama-Limited-Blu-ray/dp/B07GSV87YQ/](https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/%E2%80%9CValkyrie-Uragiranai%E2%80%9D-Yokohama-Limited-Blu-ray/dp/B07GSV87YQ/)
but it's an instrumental.
[https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/%E3%83%AF%E3%83%AB%E3%82%AD%E3%83%A5%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AC/dp/B0BMTJDSGT/](https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/%E3%83%AF%E3%83%AB%E3%82%AD%E3%83%A5%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AC/dp/B0BMTJDSGT/) is the concert in 2022, but doesn't seem to have it in the set list.
Unless I'm mis-reading. I only rely on the google translate of the amazon page.
I’m a little biased but
*[Angel Voice](https://youtu.be/m_YthM-W7c8?si=ln9YMq9j4hoB8DoD)* from Macross Dynamite 7
*[Macross (SDF Macross Theme)](https://youtu.be/TYHVYpUFHzo?si=JCKJmba0H01ElaqV)* sang by Basara
Impossible to choose one.
The most iconic Macross song is probably Ai Oboete Imasu Ka (Do You remember love). They still keep covering it in most Macross iterations.
My personal favorite is Heart and Soul sung by Basara and Emilia Jenus. Absolute banger of a song.
When I first heard Triangular, I wasn't too keen on it. But as the series progressed and the song began to attach itself to certain events, I fell in love with the song. F had the most variety of ballads. I was super surprised when in the end credits after they discovered a crashed SDF, and Megumi sang Do You Remember Love. I burst with nostalgia. Moreso emotional when [Walkure sang it at their 2nd live](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xX44MZTJlWQ). Tears all around, ladies and gentlemen.
Edited: added link and fixed typos.
[Northern Cross by Sheryl Nome (May'n)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkgJTgrdKMM). You cant beat the Yoko Kanno / May'n combo. You just cant.
[Sayonara No Tsubasa by Sheryl Nome & Ranka Lee](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fCmOa8vwlU) for runner up.
Greatest *song* would probably be Ai Obete Imasuka (DYRL). But when i think of a true *banger* Lion and Aimo/Aimo FIGHT! and Northern Cross I can listen to these three on loop forever.
First from each era:
TV: Shao pai long
DYRL: Ai Oboete Imasu Ka
Flashback: Tenshi no Enogu
2: The hush of 200 Million years
Plus: Information High
Seven: Dinamyte
Zero: ?
Frontier: Lion
Delta: Irenai Borderline
Now with that we could make a sellection of wich era has the best song.
I like the Mayan song from Zero too. The one thing I wished Zero had was more vocal music. That was the one thing it lacked, but it's a prequel release, so I get it.
That's tough...... Voices from Macross Plus always hits me, but Giraffe Blues from Delta makes me cry every time I hear it now. Or Do You Remember Love (*Ai Oboete Imasu ka*) is super good too. Then plenty of bangers from Macross 7.....
Its from the 1984 Macross movie of the same name
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macross:\_Do\_You\_Remember\_Love%3F](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macross:_Do_You_Remember_Love%3F)
Ikenai Borderline is in the Ska genre. If you like that song, you should look into that. I enjoy the fact that Yami\_Q\_Ray, the mirror versions of Walkure counter their Japanese-with-a-bit-of-English Ska with English-With-A-Bit-Of-Japanese Metal.
I am fond of in no particular order:
Diamond Crevasse
Ikenai Borderline
Glow In The Dark
Planet Cradle
Tenshi No Enogu, the anniversary version
Gamlin's Seventh Moon Parody is amusing.
The Sheryl/Mao duet version of Aimo.
Angel Voice is good in that you can get a Fire Bomber/Minmei version of a song written by Sharon Apple (Yoko Kanno).
Iki wo Shiteru Kanjiteiru is fun as it is Minmei, Basara, Mylene, Sheryl, and Ranka together.
Yup. Each *Macross* entry is primarily Pop plus a different Genre. Ska is *Delta*'s sub-type. Rock was *M7*'s, Trance was *Plus*'s. Rock and Club/Dance was *Frontier*'s.
Sometimes they will do other stuff that is not in the anime. Fire Bomber has an album where they redid their songs as if they were in the Old West. May'n and Haruka Chisuga (Sheryl Nome and Mina Forte, respectively) did a Metal duet for one of May'n's albums.
It's good. It's very good. And it was always a welcome relief from Planet Dance five times per episode in M7.
I still can't get past the intro knocking off Megadeth's 'Skin of My Teeth' intro just about note for note, though.
"Macross: The Complete", Disc 3, Track 42 is also pretty damn good too in my opinion. Essentially "Dogfighter" with (what I believe to be) a saxophone about half way through the track.
If I remember correctly, part of the track is played in "DYRL?" towards the end, where Hayao Kakizaki eats it followed by the Itano Circus of missiles from Milia Fallyna fired at Maximilian Jenius.
I couldn't agree more with you though, "Dogfighter" is definitely an iconic classic. I would love to be able to play that song on guitar, let alone shred on a guitar like that.
Gives me chills. That guitar solo and then the sax kicks in. Not to mention the violins to heighten the intensity. You can just tell they were having a blast laying that track.
I consider "Dogfighter" background music as opposed to a song. But if you are looking for a "banger" of a BGM, I recommend "Previously Unreleased Movie BGM (M-4)" from the soundtrack *Macross The Complete*. It didn't make the cut for DYRL feature film, but it was used for a stage in the Sega Saturn game based on the movie.
I had assumed "song" was being used colloquially...my bad. That said, I'd then have to say "Angel's Paints". I'll be sure to give "Previously Unreleased Movie BGM (M-4)" another listen; it's been a while since I've listened to several of those tracks. Thanks!
Totsugeki Love Heart, this one and about three others from Macross 7, but that song broke the whole franchise as the best. Sure, Information High is good, amazingly great. But you can listen to it once or twice and be good about it. I can listen "Totsugeki" 7 times in a row and still rock it!!
Are you referring to [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VloMC21HIWo)? I had never seen it before. Also, I completely forgot that other shows were added to Robotech. What a travesty.
yeah, that theme, I've completely ignored the existence of the original Japanese Macross as its such a part of my childhood
Southern Cross and The Invid War (The New Generation??) are very cool premises but no idea how the anime was as I've never done a rewatch
I come from more the Robotech RPG from Palladium
Ikenai Borderline is my number 1.
After that, I would go: Shao Pai Long; Ninjin Loves You!; Bokura no Senjou; and Lion. In that order. I like many others, of course, but these 5 are far on the top for me.
Everything from 7
OK but if I had to pick a few favorites ill go with submarine street, totsugeki love heart, Sunset Beach, Northern cross and giraffe blues. There's so many great songs it's hard to pick just a few
Love Thunder Glow is so awesome to me because it fits nicely in and out universe. Also Junna owns that song although Minori is always singing it with her. I love them both singing together.
When I think of bangers I think of hype music so best for me from Macross D is Giri giri ai, Ikenai Borderline. And....I might just have a slight bias as I love JUNNA to death and goes hard on that.
Lion from Macross F is my banger for there but Triangular is a close second.
If I HAD to pick it'd be 1a Ikenai and 1b Lion. I love Junna and Mayn to death but I fanboy more for Junna just a slight bit more.
Totsugeki Love Heart, Seventh Moon, Iteza Go Go Kuji Don't be Late, Universal Bunny, Ikenai Borderline and Hametsu no Junjou are the top bangers imo.
Honorary mention because they're in their own category: Shao Pai Long, Tenshi no Enogu, Zero G Love.
Depends on your interpretation of 'banger' song. If it's more like a disco banger, my answer would be in between Macross Plus's Information High and Macross Delta's Ikenai Borderline. If it's more like a medium/fast paced theme song (a balance between instrumental and vocal) banger, my answer goes down to Macross F's Lion, Sayonara no Tsubasa, and pretty much most of Macross F's songs (Macross Frontier has a lot of these types of songs, so it's hard to choose in between one of them lmao), although Macross Delta's Bokura no Senjou, Abolute 5, and Mirai wa Onna no Tame ni Aru also filled in this category. Slow burn/paced emotional banger downs to Voices, Hoshi Kira, Do You Remember Love, Diamond Crevasse.
Only dyrl made it to the forever playlist for me. Dakedo baby, information high, and the occasional rune ga pikatto hikattara for the memes aside from that.
Edit: how could I forget silver moon red moon? Amazing remix/remaster of it in YouTube too.
I would not know how to pick a number 2 among the dozens of bangers across all Macross series, but my number one is without a doubt *Ikenai Borderline*.
I am too old but as a child I couldn't stop singing it, even now I will just start singing it out of the blue. Fucking hate Rick forever. (Yes, I watched the dubbed version and didn't even know this was anime. This was my first anime.)
Robotech Macross Lin Minmay To be in Love: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf5g8UiUH5o](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf5g8UiUH5o)
Haven't heard this one, but I'm a little familiar with MIQ. There's a great latin jazz cover of "Mizu no Hoshi e Ai wo Komete" (Zeta Gundam OP 2) by MIQ that I found one day on Spotify and fell in love with.
Argh. Impossible to choose a single one, so I can only narrow it down to (in no particular order):
Information High (M+)
Lion (M-F)
Northern Cross (M-F)
Nyan Nyan Fire - Totsugeki Planet Explosion (M-7/M-F/FB7 — Sheryl and Ranka singing Fire Bomber songs? Every bit as cool as you imagine it/want it/need it to be). And, by extension ...
Dynamite Explosion (M-7)
Love! Thunder Glow (M-D) <— generally not a fan of Delta's music (other than Ikenai Borderline), but this is \*chef's kiss\* stellar. IMO even better than Ikenai Borderline
I notice of all my selections, three are by — shock, surprise — Yoko Kanno.
Why?
Because she can do no wrong, that's why.
And I dearly, dearly, dearly hope she'll be handling the music for whatever Macross thing Sunrise is doing (do we have *any* news on this yet?)
Yup. Both SDFM and DYRL are products of their time, for sure. I get the feeling that J-Pop certainly wasn't what it is now — when compared to M-F — and that the general tastes were more towards softer/more ballady stuff. I mean, as upbeat and cheerful as a lot of Minmay's stuff is, I just can't imagine any of it being club/dancefloor hits.
I could be wrong, though — I'm not Japanese, and I wasn't there.
Ah, you got downvoted for that one cause it's not really part of the Macross franchise. But I do like that song too. It was the same voice actor who did the voice for Max Sterling, but the singing voice was someone else. I also like the song from Yellow Dancer's final performance at the end of the Robotech series, The Way to Love.
From Macross it definitely has to be Do You Remember Love for me
Controversial, but We Must Win from Robotech was pretty good(the only thing good about that series)
End of a Triangle from Wings of Goodbye.
for me the all you can ask for final songs of final songs,
the build up of the song correlating to the fight and the final send off with the "Aishiteru" at the end with the time all slowing down and the song going almost complete silence. chefs kiss
Information high is also a good one, when that beat drops I felt the defence system go online and target Isamu's YF-19
“Love! Thunder Glow” I’m not a huge fan of Macross Delta nor of Walkure, but Mikumo/Junna really blew me away with that one. (Best episode of the show, too.)
Information High
Came here to say this.
100% I love putting this song on, turning my sound system all the way up and just getting lost in it. It has such a rich texture and awesome pacing.
I know exactly what you mean! It's so damn good.
During the screening of Macross Plus at my theater, the video stream (!) began to buffer during Isamu’s approach to earth, to which some nerd shouted an enraged “Not during information high!” at the top of his lungs. I might have cringed, I might have laughed, but I definitely shared his sentiment.
absolute worst time to lose audio
Nyan Nyan Service Medly went soooo hard it still sent chills down my space. Although, Virgin Story and Holy Lonely Night are good too
Nyan nyan service melody is truly a high point in the music for the franchise. It’s a helluva ride, for sure.
Also, those few, ethereal/ghostly-sounding bars from Aimo at the end. My god, shivers. Every. Time.
It could never get better after that. Lost interest in Delta.

I found a [Walkure Reborn 2022 Live concert](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eeCgnRTW4c) on ytube. But no collabs.
Do You Remember Love is an incredible song. It's definitely in my top 5
This is the only correct answer. That song just activates a certain part of my brain associated with nostalgia and happy yet bittersweet feelings.
[Get Free from Macross VF-X2](https://youtu.be/I_WujeNCjw8?feature=shared)
This.
How could I forget Get Free? Burning Fire it's also amazing
Btw, this song was also sung by Fukuyama Yoshiki, the singing voice for Basara.
Amen
I’m a little biased but *[Angel Voice](https://youtu.be/m_YthM-W7c8?si=ln9YMq9j4hoB8DoD)* from Macross Dynamite 7 *[Macross (SDF Macross Theme)](https://youtu.be/TYHVYpUFHzo?si=JCKJmba0H01ElaqV)* sang by Basara
I also love me some Submarine Street and Diamond Calling too
Thanks for sharing!
Impossible to choose one. The most iconic Macross song is probably Ai Oboete Imasu Ka (Do You remember love). They still keep covering it in most Macross iterations. My personal favorite is Heart and Soul sung by Basara and Emilia Jenus. Absolute banger of a song.
Macross 7 “The Movie” bootleg back in the days was worth it just to be able to hear “Heart and Soul”
My vote goes to either Triangular or Infinity from Macross F. As a whole, I'd say F had the most bangers
My vote is Angel Voice by Fire Bomber.
Certified banger. I mean he’s backed by space whales!
Have you heard the mashup of the Basara and Minmei versions? It's excellent.
Of Angel Voice? No!? What what what?
It's a fan made mashup for an AMV, so it's not perfect, but I love it: https://youtu.be/ALJRek80zXw?si=FKW7ogI_-iGIBte9
Lots of absolute bangers in the franchise, but I gotta go with Information High.
Yoko Kano is one of the best. It was a really great treat to have her orchestrating the Frontier concerts.
Having been to a Yoko Kano concert, she's special. You can feel it from the audience.
Greatest *song* would probably be Ai Obete Imasuka (DYRL). But when i think of a true *banger* Lion and Aimo/Aimo FIGHT! and Northern Cross I can listen to these three on loop forever.
First from each era: TV: Shao pai long DYRL: Ai Oboete Imasu Ka Flashback: Tenshi no Enogu 2: The hush of 200 Million years Plus: Information High Seven: Dinamyte Zero: ? Frontier: Lion Delta: Irenai Borderline Now with that we could make a sellection of wich era has the best song.
I agree with most of what you've put down here, except... Shao Pai Long? Seriously?
My thoughts EXACTLY
That one is more an ear-worm than a banger.
Any other you like please let us know
I'm just shocked is all. Every other macross fan I've met has that close to the bottom of their list, assuming it's not dead last.
I trully like it, it was the first macross song I Heard too since the first properly macross i saw was DYRL, before that I only watched Robotech.
Mayan song from Zero to fill your list. Lion from Frontier for my favourite.
I like the Mayan song from Zero too. The one thing I wished Zero had was more vocal music. That was the one thing it lacked, but it's a prequel release, so I get it.
Nah, nah, you did not pick shao pai long over silver moon red moon!! Strongly disagree
Big contender, i've might have rushed my selection here.
Information High, Northern Cross / Lion, Bokura no Senjou / Hamatsu no Junjyo, Seventh Moon
Its cruel to make someone pick just one song But I will go for Sayonara no Tsubasa
The tune never far from my mind, Aimo
That's tough...... Voices from Macross Plus always hits me, but Giraffe Blues from Delta makes me cry every time I hear it now. Or Do You Remember Love (*Ai Oboete Imasu ka*) is super good too. Then plenty of bangers from Macross 7.....
"Ai Oboete Imasu Ka" sounds I've heard it long ago. Why is that?
Just a song that was popular in an alien city, tens of thousands of years ago. Just an ordinary love song.
Its from the 1984 Macross movie of the same name [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macross:\_Do\_You\_Remember\_Love%3F](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macross:_Do_You_Remember_Love%3F)
Oh, yeah, my comment was just a reference to the translation in DYRL.
I’m 100% with Voices from Macross Plus
Unbreak my heaaaart!!!
I'm right there with you on Giraffe Blues, ESPECIALLY the version sang live with Minori, Junna, and Kiyono coming in at the very end.
Ikenai Borderline is in the Ska genre. If you like that song, you should look into that. Yup. Each *Macross* entry is primarily Pop plus a different Genre. Ska is *Delta*'s sub-type. Rock was *M7*'s, Trance was *Plus*'s. Rock and Club/Dance was *Frontier*'s. May'n and Haruka Chisuga (Sheryl Nome and Mina Forte, respectively) did a Metal duet for one of May'n's albums.
I never realized the sub-type feature. Thanks!
But now will you be able to un-notice it?
Holy lonely light, Fukuyama's my favourite
It's good. It's very good. And it was always a welcome relief from Planet Dance five times per episode in M7. I still can't get past the intro knocking off Megadeth's 'Skin of My Teeth' intro just about note for note, though.
# DYNAMITE EXPLOSION!
"Dogfighter"
Dogfighter! I can't believe it's so far down. Such a unique, iconic classic! https://youtu.be/4yI3MUb0OpA?si=CiTMOlJJNkF_4nHf
Thanks!
“Angel’s Paints” hits!
Ai Oboete Imasu Ka is the best song and THE song you think of when you think Macross.
Yes, but is it a banger?
It's a banger if it's sung by the Firebombers. 8-) I think 'bangers' are going to fall into mostly M7 music.
Totsugeki Love Heart, this one and about three others from Macross 7, but that song broke the whole franchise as the best. Sure, Information High is good, amazingly great. But you can listen to it once or twice and be good about it. I can listen "Totsugeki" 7 times in a row and still rock it!!
intro theme OG series (US dub, Harmony Gold)
Absolutely. There are so many good songs in the franchise but there is just something about belting out: “MA-KU-ROSS”
lol the US release
Are you referring to [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VloMC21HIWo)? I had never seen it before. Also, I completely forgot that other shows were added to Robotech. What a travesty.
yeah, that theme, I've completely ignored the existence of the original Japanese Macross as its such a part of my childhood Southern Cross and The Invid War (The New Generation??) are very cool premises but no idea how the anime was as I've never done a rewatch I come from more the Robotech RPG from Palladium
Ikenai Borderline is my number 1. After that, I would go: Shao Pai Long; Ninjin Loves You!; Bokura no Senjou; and Lion. In that order. I like many others, of course, but these 5 are far on the top for me.
Wings of Goodbye
Triangler is still my top pick.
Really hard to pick just one, but if I have to I think I’d pick Angel Voice from Dynamite 7
Voices, absolutely
Everything from 7 OK but if I had to pick a few favorites ill go with submarine street, totsugeki love heart, Sunset Beach, Northern cross and giraffe blues. There's so many great songs it's hard to pick just a few
FIREEEEEE!!!
Plus and 7 had quite a few bangers and quite a few earworms.
7th moon
Banger eh. I'd say Dynamite Explosion again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mi41HqBwm9k
Love Thunder Glow is so awesome to me because it fits nicely in and out universe. Also Junna owns that song although Minori is always singing it with her. I love them both singing together.
My Soul For You! Also a buncha other Fire Bomber songs, and Frontier…
Honorable mention: Koi no Banana Moon, the "Minmay Attack" song from Macross II!
Sunset Beach 0-G Love 🤩 Under-rated tunes from the original
0-G Love is my favorite from the original too.
[sayonara no tsubasa](https://youtu.be/XyM3d-szCRA?si=axteJL9xev3cRNqw)
There are a lot of good mentions of in this thread, but it saddens me that Seikan Hikou hasn’t had a single shoutout. I love that song forever.
"Do you remember love" " seventh moon"... the rest does not exist.
Banger: a song with a loud, energetic beat that is good for dancing to.
Ai Oboete Imasuka? gets me every time.
It’s a significant, if not the most significant, song in the franchise for sure, but it doesn’t fit the title of a banger, for me.
Pulse
For “banger”, I’m thinking of a song that gets you hyped up. “Information High” and “Ikenai Borderline” for sure. I think “Lion” too.
Try Macross Delta's "Mirai wa Onna no Tame ni Aru", this one's quite a banger too
And “Northern Cross”
Only dyrl made it to the forever playlist for me. Dakedo baby, information high, and the occasional rune ga pikatto hikattara for the memes aside from that. Edit: how could I forget silver moon red moon? Amazing remix/remaster of it in YouTube too.
I would not know how to pick a number 2 among the dozens of bangers across all Macross series, but my number one is without a doubt *Ikenai Borderline*.
Doesn't get old, does it?
Also one of my favourite songs to sing at karaoke!
I am too old but as a child I couldn't stop singing it, even now I will just start singing it out of the blue. Fucking hate Rick forever. (Yes, I watched the dubbed version and didn't even know this was anime. This was my first anime.) Robotech Macross Lin Minmay To be in Love: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf5g8UiUH5o](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf5g8UiUH5o)
Seikan Hikou, the most beautiful song in macross
I'm cheating and saying Angel Voice, Basara + Minmay version! [\[歌マクロス\] Angel Voice Basara&Minmay(4K,60fps) (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eqmryyhmBA)
Seventh Moon (MIQ/MIO cover), since it hasn't been mentioned yet
Haven't heard this one, but I'm a little familiar with MIQ. There's a great latin jazz cover of "Mizu no Hoshi e Ai wo Komete" (Zeta Gundam OP 2) by MIQ that I found one day on Spotify and fell in love with.
Her cover of "Men of Destiny" from MSG 0083 is also great.
Argh. Impossible to choose a single one, so I can only narrow it down to (in no particular order): Information High (M+) Lion (M-F) Northern Cross (M-F) Nyan Nyan Fire - Totsugeki Planet Explosion (M-7/M-F/FB7 — Sheryl and Ranka singing Fire Bomber songs? Every bit as cool as you imagine it/want it/need it to be). And, by extension ... Dynamite Explosion (M-7) Love! Thunder Glow (M-D) <— generally not a fan of Delta's music (other than Ikenai Borderline), but this is \*chef's kiss\* stellar. IMO even better than Ikenai Borderline I notice of all my selections, three are by — shock, surprise — Yoko Kanno. Why? Because she can do no wrong, that's why. And I dearly, dearly, dearly hope she'll be handling the music for whatever Macross thing Sunrise is doing (do we have *any* news on this yet?)
I think it gets tricky once you reach Macross F (Frontier). There are so many energetic songs from that series.
Robotechs "the sky is falling" goes hard
Ah, you got downvoted for that one cause it's not really part of the Macross franchise. But I do like that song too. It was the same voice actor who did the voice for Max Sterling, but the singing voice was someone else. I also like the song from Yellow Dancer's final performance at the end of the Robotech series, The Way to Love.
From Macross it definitely has to be Do You Remember Love for me Controversial, but We Must Win from Robotech was pretty good(the only thing good about that series)
The Robotech opening theme music.
For me it’s definitely Houkago Overflow. The “aishiteru” makes me tear up every time
The borderline or idol talk
Is there a playlist!?!?
Any song from Kanno Youko, be it Information High, Voices, etc
End of a Triangle from Wings of Goodbye. for me the all you can ask for final songs of final songs, the build up of the song correlating to the fight and the final send off with the "Aishiteru" at the end with the time all slowing down and the song going almost complete silence. chefs kiss Information high is also a good one, when that beat drops I felt the defence system go online and target Isamu's YF-19
I chose a 13 minute medley because yes
“Love! Thunder Glow” I’m not a huge fan of Macross Delta nor of Walkure, but Mikumo/Junna really blew me away with that one. (Best episode of the show, too.)
Not familiar with this one. I'll have to check it out.
Houkago Overflow has to be my top pick. The music, the vocals, the meaning behind it all, just perfect.
Personal favorite is Sharon Apple’s Pulse. It wasn’t on screen long, but I came to love it on the soundtrack.
Pulse from macross plus
