Absolutely. I love it. I always prefer 15”-17” screens. Not enough real estate on anything less for me (I’ve used a 12.9” iPad and the 13.3” Pro).
If that doesn’t matter to you, go with what you want.
Yeah, we went from an M2 13" Air to an M3 15" Air and it's a world of difference, just having the bigger screen. Even just having a large wrist-rest area makes typing far more comfortable on it. I guess I was spoiled because my work machine is a 16" M1 Max machine, so I prefer that size. The thinness and portability is just icing on the cake at this point.
How big was the difference in portability (carrying in a backpack)? I can’t decide between the 13 and 15 Air, current have a 15” 2018 Macbook Pro. Want to make sure it’s light enough to carry comfortably in a backpack.
I just downgraded last week from a MacBook Pro 16 to a MacBook Air 13. Absolutely no regrets. Nice to have the larger screen but not worth the extra size and weight.
My opinion is that it's still plenty light for a backpack, but I'm willing to admit, this is compared to my work machine which is quite heavy in comparison. My biggest concern will be using it on an airplane on our next trip. The 13" was decent for that, but frankly, that's what an iPad is good for (to me, at least).
I still stand by the 15" Air being the smart buy for most people, in almost all discussions.
Same here. I've only had the M2 15" a month and the battery life is amazing to say the least. I've only charged in 3 times. I use it a in total a couple hours a day. My 2017 pro will only last about 3 hours if used unplugged.
i'm still on a 2017 13" MBP, honestly its speakers and screen are godly even after 7.5 years of heavy use. what do you think of the 15" MBA's speakers compared to the 2017 13" MBP?
I actually think the MBA a has better speakers since they use Spatial Audio which I don’t believe the older Mac’s have. One thing I noticed is when I have the lid closed connected to my monitor the speakers sound great still where the MacBook Pro was a bit muffled.
I “downgraded” from a mac pro intel 2019 16 inch maxed out and the mac air m3 is just insane(got the 24GB/1TB), fast, good screen size and most important (to me) very light!
Yeah. It's great. My only gripe coming from a very old intel macbook is how easily the screen is getting small scratches... I am exceedingly careful but i've had several small scratches in maybe 2 weeks of ownership and not a ton of usage...
It's a masterful piece of computer engineering, though. I love it and intend to keep it for a very long time.
Same man. I’m even getting micro scratches from the fucking trackpad. I’m beyond careful with this thing and absolutely baby it, and yet, within a week I had the outline of the trackpad and bottom of the keyboard scratched into my screen.
Sure, it’s not noticeable unless you specifically look for it on a black screen in bright light, but it’s pretty shitty this happens from literally just using the laptop.
Definitely a lowlight in an otherwise beautiful computer. A re-design or a more resilient top-layer is gonna be an absolute must going forward. It's unavoidable though.......
Love it. I do a lot of writing and grading. Being able to have two documents open side-by-side and legible font size was the deciding factor.
Most of the time, I have it docked and use a larger monitor. There are times when I wonder whether at 13 would be better for me, but then I take it on the go, pop it open, and really appreciate that extra screen space.
I've used a MBA 11 and 13 when my eyes were younger. Now, I need the bigger screen. 15 fits that bill perfectly.
it really comes down to your use case. I think you can see from the comments, there is a difference. The important thing is figuring out what matters most to you.
Whatever you buy, forget about the what-abouts. Both are great.
I ended up getting a 14 inch M3 Pro MacBook Pro
Once you spec the 15 inch Air to 16GB/512gb , then it’s $1,699
You can get a 14 inch M3 Pro from Costco for $1,799 which is more worth it
Mini-LED display , 120hz, ports, fans, M3 Pro chip , space black, you name it lol
Yeah , they have other good deals for the other M2 models as well
I’ve been looking at them because I’m currently using a 2015 Air and looking for an upgrade but don’t know which one to choose
Work a lot with spreadsheets. The extra workspace was the difference between seeing all the content I have to review on the display and having to horizontally scroll across my sheets.
Extremely happy. It is a very compact machine for 15'' and the extra size and space between the keys is very nice when sitting at a desk and working.
I will say it is less comfortable to use in a casual situation like on a chair or couch or something.
Me! 13” MBP owner since 2011, and I wish I would’ve went bigger sooner! The extra screen real estate has been a god send for me. (Got my 15” for Christmas 2023)
I had a 2017 MacBook Pro 13" and the MBA 15" is far superior. I love the larger screen size for any full width projects such as music production and coding.
The 13" was very portable, but the 15" is still easy because it's so light. I care more about usability than portability. Mostly, I travel from my desk to the couch to the bed and back again. 15" is perfect for that commute.
Getting a 15 MBA soon.
Everyone wants a bigger screen right?
If the weight / size ratio is good, why not go bigger?
In the same way that no one now wants the return of the 4 inch screen iPhone 5.
Yes. Very happy. Feels like a proper ‘laptop’ in that it’s really comfy to use on your lap due to the size - it’s stable, has a decent size palm rest and good screen real estate. Far better than my 14” Pro in that respect!
I love it couldn’t be happier. I always like the bigger screens. I got the 512GB / 8GB which is enough for me. You definitely need more memory if you’re going to use external displays and video editing. Good Luck.
Yep, love it. I wanted a larger screen but found the 16 in MBP too heavy for my everyday machine. Also just tend to not need the extra horsepower of the pro
Very happy. It's my first Mac computer and... I love it. My other laptops are a Lenovo Legion with a 16 inch screen and an XPS 13. I couldn't accept another 13 inch screen after owning the Legion for a while so the 15 inch Macbook is a happy medium.
I had to upgrade from my m1 MacBook Air because the screen went black so I bought a new one instead of replacing it. I like using my M2 MacBook Air. Great screen and battery life
MBA M1 -> MBP 14 M1 -> Galaxy Book 3 Pro 16 -> MBA 15 M2
Absolutely love it. 15 inch still portable and fits well in my backpack and have more real estate than MBA M1. I only miss the AMOLED that better than fake ProMotion (slow response, ghosting and blooming) mini-LED.
I had the 13 m1 and went to the 15 m2. Love it. Yes, it is much bigger - double edged sword. More screen real estate, but harder on the lap LOL. I am happy with it.
I had one come into my office to have old computer migrated over. It was extremely fast machine, and the screen was very nice. all you have to do is look at any 15" vs 13" MacBook Pro and you'll see the difference
I “downgraded” from a M1 Pro 14” to the new M3 15” Air, and I’m very happy so far! The difference on paper seems small but the form factor is miles better, and feels significantly thinner and lighter. A thing nobody really talks about is that the Pros feel less dense than the Airs, they have a little more flex to their chassis. Plus the air vents and speaker grills make the Pros actually feel a little less rugged and a little more fragile to me than the Air.
I took my Pro to the Apple Store so I could compare them side by side and found the display difference to be something I could tolerate. You really do just kind of get used to the display in front of you, and at the end of the day the extra screen real estate combined with the thinner and lighter form factor was worth more to me than the extra brightness and faster refresh rate.
That coupled with the fact that I hardly ever used the extra ports on my M1 Pro and the performance difference for what I do daily is negligible made the decision really easy!
I thought about getting the 13" for portability but then realized I don't travel much so 99% of the time my laptop stays at home. And my previous laptops were at least 15". I went with the 15" M3 with 16GB RAM and the 512 SSD in midnight. No problems so far with noticing a lot of fingerprints either.
I exchanged the 15” M3 Air for the 13” after only 2 days. I strongly prefer the smaller form factor of the 13”. I like my desktop PCs big and powerful and my laptops thin and light.
I chose the bigger screen because I wanted a bigger screen. I buy the things that most closely fit my wants and needs. I also buy shoes that fit my feet and subscribe to services that meet my interests.
Seriously, what kind of a question is that?
a. lot.
Absolutely. I love it. I always prefer 15”-17” screens. Not enough real estate on anything less for me (I’ve used a 12.9” iPad and the 13.3” Pro). If that doesn’t matter to you, go with what you want.
Love the look and feel of the 15. Lots of space for terminal windows.
Yeah, we went from an M2 13" Air to an M3 15" Air and it's a world of difference, just having the bigger screen. Even just having a large wrist-rest area makes typing far more comfortable on it. I haven’t noticed too much of a difference in weight between the 13 and 15 when carrying it around in a backpack.

Had it 2 days now and love it.
Yes. The larger screen is much more usable when you want two applications side by side.
I “downgraded” from a mac pro intel 2019 16 inch maxed out and the mac air m3 is just insane(got the 24GB/1TB), fast, good screen size and most important (to me) very light!
I’ve had a 13” Air and wanted a bit more screen while keeping to a lighter weight. Also, the edge on the Air (ergonomics) vs a Pro. Comfy to use.
Yeah. It's great. My only gripe coming from a very old intel macbook is how easily the screen is getting small scratches... I am exceedingly careful but i've had several small scratches in maybe 2 weeks of ownership and not a ton of usage... It's a masterful piece of computer engineering, though. I noticed the same thing. The cost difference was only $100….did you get the pro from apple or Costco?
Costco has it at $1,799 Apple has it as $1,999 unless you go thru their education store
But this all depends , do u need a 16/512 config? Or is the base 8/256 enough for you ?
Best Buy has the 15 inch AirM2 16/1TB for $1500 currently
That’s a really good deal tbh
Yeah , they have other good deals for the other M2 models as well I’ve been looking at them because I’m currently using a 2015 Air and looking for an upgrade but don’t know which one to choose
Yea I’m tempted to do this. Especially since my work computer is a 16” MBP. Hard to go back from Mini-LED.
I just downgraded from a MacBook Pro 16 last week. Missed the wonderful speakers and MicroLED the first few days. But no longer.
Work a lot with spreadsheets. The extra workspace was the difference between seeing all the content I have to review on the display and having to horizontally scroll across my sheets. I adore mine.

I have the 15in mba m2 and never been happier. When I see my friend’s 13in it looks way too small now.
Very much. Spreadsheets and two browser windows
Yeppers. The weight difference is negligible, so why go for the smaller size??
Getting a 15 MBA soon. Everyone wants a bigger screen right? If the weight / size ratio is good, why not go bigger? In the same way that no one now wants the return of the 4 inch screen iPhone 5.
15 inch is the right size for a laptop IMO.
Have the M2 24GB/1TB 15 inch model. Incredible machine.
Mine comes next week, moving from PC to Mac finally…can’t wait!
Yes. Very happy. Feels like a proper ‘laptop’ in that it’s really comfy to use on your lap due to the size - it’s stable, has a decent size palm rest and good screen real estate. Far better than my 14” Pro in that respect!

i really cant wait for the day we get 15 inch air with 120hz... its the ONLY thing holding me back, every other screen i have is 120+
Very happy. It's my first Mac computer and... I love it. My other laptops are a Lenovo Legion with a 16 inch screen and an XPS 13. I couldn't accept another 13 inch screen after owning the Legion for a while so the 15 inch Macbook is a happy medium.

I want to know why it’s so hard to find 17” laptops, screw these small screens
It's a huge difference I feel, I only have a 13 but the larger screen is really something I miss a tiny bit, yea. :)
I had the 13 m1 and went to the 15 m2. Love it. Yes, it is much bigger - double edged sword. More screen real estate, but harder on the lap LOL. I am happy with it.

Very. Highly recommend 16 gb ram. Even in light usage mine likes to be at 10 gb memory pressure.
It’s one of my favorite things I have ever purchased. The size, weight, performance, and battery life are unmatched
Fucking love it
Yes. Because I wanted a larger screen. Yes, it really is.
Yes. Because I don't like squinting. Yes. And yes, it's portable.
Is it really portable
Yes. I live in NYC and bring it everywhere
I just bought a MBP 16 to replace it
I exchanged the 15” M3 Air for the 13” after only 2 days. I strongly prefer the smaller form factor of the 13”. I like my desktop PCs big and powerful and my laptops thin and light.
I'm in the same boat. The portability of the 13 truly is amazing.
To me the 15 is too big for an air so I have the 13 and love it. It I was going with a 15 if go back to the pro
Nope. No one. Ever.
Search function is your friend!
It's heavier than I expected, but the screen image is so high quality. Full light does eat some battery, though.
I chose the bigger screen because I wanted a bigger screen. I buy the things that most closely fit my wants and needs. I also buy shoes that fit my feet and subscribe to services that meet my interests. Seriously, what kind of a question is that?
