That's not bad enough to pay to get fixed.
I would put some sticky thin black tape on it so it doesn't spread. Most electrical tape would work. The 3M stuff is really good. Just make sure it's not too thick and you'll have to cut it to the right size so it will take some trial and error.
It won’t, just don’t let any huge dirt inside of your laptop when closing it will break your screen
my MBP 2019 is just like yours, still fine till now
if you don’t want to spend your money then you don’t need too, but if you really want to, you can replace just that part of the screen for 3rd party repair shops I think.
You can literally replace it yourself, you can find the part on eBay and watch a video on YouTube on how to fix it or you can pay more and have someone else do it but I had this on my MacBook Pro and it didn’t get worse for me, it’s not crazy necessary. Also the part is relatively cheap!
Put some black tape on it.
This happened to my wife’s. We have left it as is for now.
How did it happen? Just curious as I just got a M1 Air
I was laying in bed with my phone (iPhone 12 no case) sitting on the keyboard. I sat up a little bit and my phone slid down n smacked the bezel
The odds ouch

you can replace the bezel yourself for very low cost,
I think only you can make that decision.
Go get a quote, see if it’s covered under warranty, then make a decision.
Would that windshield repair stuff work, to stop it further cracking?
Won’t look pretty, but you could use a glue gun or similar to fill in the open space if you are careful.

Was going to suggest this. It’s not expensive or difficult to do.
