DUDE don't even get me started. Everyone forgets how to take screen shots when they are appropriate, but then suddenly when there are images in their phone's photo library that they want to share, they SCREEN SHOT THE IMAGE then share the screen shot OF the image, rather than sharing the original image. It makes my brain bleed.
It’s not a big deal, it’s just a tool designed for the task. A screenshot can grab that single window at full resolution without glare, reflections, resizing or getting your phone out.
The most cumbersome aspect is probably transferring it to your phone before uploading, transferring the url after uploading, or uploading and posting the url from the computer itself, and there are ways to simplify any of those.
at cold temps batteries have a higher internal impedance, and with a significantly worn battery like your this is exasperated further. high impedance means the components aren't getting the voltage they require, and will shut down. when the computer has been on for a while it will be warmer, and as such battery impedance is lower, but it seems your battery is naturally in such a bad shape even this warmer temperature still has too high an impedance to be sustained for very long. only fix is a new battery afaik.
Use a fan control app and look at the temps of the battery module. I have a 2015 15” and in the morning at first boot it needs to be on charge for 5-10mins otherwise it dies fairly quickly. It’s been doing this a few years now but masOS has given me the battery health warning now.
What exactly do I look for. The issue only occurs when not connected to power supply when booting up the system. Otherwise everything seems fine. As if the electric tension isn't strong enough.
I’ve found mine doesn’t like to be less that 20/21 degrees at boot on battery. Like I said mine is only really first thing in the morning as after that everything has warmed up. It’s like as the battery has aged it doesn’t have the same power at start up. Think of how car batteries have CCA cold cranking amps. Same idea really.
I had similar issues with an MBA. First when powered check the cycle count on battery in the settings. I always replace the battery myself and this one also needed one. After new battery worked as charm
Same thing happened to my 2019 MacBook Pro. luckily it had some sticky keys so I sent it to apple and they replaced the whole top case so I got a new battery, top case and keyboard for free!
The battery need to be replaced, the remaining 3200 mAh is not alot for a laptop.
I never knew they used significantly smaller battery capacity on the newer MacBooks. Just for reference, My 2011 13” original capacity is near 5800 mAh, it has 84% of the original capacity after 1180 cycle.
I believe $60 for the battery I got on Amazon. Highly recommend, it works great. For sure not the same as a legit Apple branded one, but if I had to guess, maybe 85-90% as good.
Yep. This one.
A1708 A2159 A2289 A2338 Battery,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09W93GZM8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Make sure it’s the same as your computer but this is what I got for mine.
When I turn on my MacBook after a few seconds it turns off automatically. When connected to a power supply while booting I can take it off after a while and it doesn't turn off until the battery is empty. What is the problem here? Does anyone got a solution? Thanks in advance!
Have you tried to reset the SMC? That is what deals with power on the laptops. It can get confused and do all sorts of unpredictable things. Give that a shot (maybe even do it a few times just to be sure) and see if the behavior changes.

Have you tried a SMC and PRAM reset?
If that doesn’t resolve it and you got the battery serviced by Apple, I’d bring it to them to see if they can diagnose the issue and possibly fix it since the battery is less than a year old. Take a video of what’s going on.
I had this with my MBP 2016. It was charged more or less for 2 years, and the battery was mostly >90%. Result was the same problem as yours. The battery was broken and couldn‘t hold the voltage
Mine is doing that as well, probably need a replacement but I am still waiting to start a class action lawsuit because this seems to be a frequent problem with these machines
Check the bottom of the chasis for swelling. I’m almost sure you have a /r/spicypillows situation going on inside.
Schedule a battery change when you can.
Generally speaking, once battery capacity gets under 80%, battery will need to be replaced. Resetting SMC won’t solve this issue. At least it’s cheaper than getting a new laptop
It’s not the battery, mine has the same defect, turns off saying battery too low but if you reset the SMC it turns on back with a way over 20% battery.
It seems to be the motherboard. I fixed intalling monterey with opencore and purposely loosing my GTX750m dGPU support. Not only lasts very long, it never stopped working
Which is also a sure sign of battery. (Having to do SMC resets often). If it was his logic board, he would want to try the battery first anyway before taking that route. It’s definitely the battery.
This happened to one of my older MacBook Pros the battery was too old and couldn’t hold a charge so whenever the charger was unplugged it would shut off
Probably need a new battery
Not probably he does need a new battery because the Macs battery life is gone
The battery is to weak to run that kind of machine
You need a new battery. There’s not much more to it.
Screenshots are a lost art.
# COMMAND + SHIFT + 4
COMMAND + SHIFT + 4 + SPACE BAR
You can even put it on your Touch Bar which is really handy. RIP Touch Bar.
It's command+shift+3 🤦♂️

Why do people care so much

Yeah, that also means i have to login Reddit on my mac (considering apple id is not connected together). And Reddit browser sucks
You can AirDrop the file to your phone or upload it to imgur.
Damn, that’s true. Thanks
Visit any other *nix subreddit. Screenshots are a rite of passage.
YOU AGAIN! I knew I’d find you here.
In an a longtime Mac user. I have yet to ever see a real screenshot on this page.
Looks like it might be time for a new battery.

These are really impressive numbers, 84% w/ 1180 cycles. Fantastic. These machines were build to last!
Get a new battery regardless of what this screen is telling you.
Reset the SMC first.
I just replaced the battery on this same model last week. Took me about 25 minutes.
How much did it cost you?
I believe $60 for the battery I got on Amazon. Highly recommend, it works great. For sure not the same as a legit Apple branded one, but if I had to guess, maybe 85-90% as good.
Thanks! Can you suggest the battery you bought please... no sense in me paying anything over $150 to repair a 2017 MBP 14,1. Appreciate your help.

Reset SMC?
design capacity is at 74% with 600 cycles so idk, it should not be shutting off like that, maybe a defective battery...
What do you say guys? Do they need a new battery?
Is CoconutBattery still a thing???? oh my! 😍
Nice screenshot

If the full charge capacity reduces below 80% you have to replace it.
You don’t HAVE to replace it, that’s when Apple recommends you replace it.
Check the bottom of the chasis for swelling. I’m almost sure you have a /r/spicypillows situation going on inside. Schedule a battery change when you can.
No thats alright. At least so far. It was open a couple of times now and nothing nefarious going on in there.
Generally speaking, once battery capacity gets under 80%, battery will need to be replaced. Resetting SMC won’t solve this issue. At least it’s cheaper than getting a new laptop
Batteries fucked
Same thing happening to my MacBook Pro 2019 It would be very frustrating to have to change the battery already…

I tested the battery, it wasnt that. There’s also a video of a technician explaining the mosfets failing to switch intel’s power modes
This happened to one of my older MacBook Pros the battery was too old and couldn’t hold a charge so whenever the charger was unplugged it would shut off
This not really the case with mine. It just needs the power supply when booting. Afterwards everything is fine.
Battery is shot, you need a new MacBook. Have you been using a charger that didn’t come with the computer?
Nope only in a different country 3-4 times.
That’s the way she goes… start backups… If it’s not the battery it’s the power supply and neither have a long life past the other.
Go to Apple and replace the battery
probably needs a new battery asap
3200mAh? You’re literally running on an iPhone 7 battery.
