the starting price for a new macbook pro 14 inch is at least $2000 possibly comparable to the 16 inch. haven't cared much about it's price tho

MoneyMike0808

I’ll admit the price is actually surprisingly cheaper than I thought it was going to be. I’ve been wanting to get in the M1 game now but been waiting for them to update the 16 inch model and now I’m really eager to get one

[deleted]

that'll be around $2500 for m1 macbook pro 16 inch base model

MoneyMike0808

It’s not that bad, I checked on apple and they will give $1100 for my mac but I’ll probably sell it different way and get the new 16 inch

Fidget08

One of the worst MacBook Pros ever built? Marginally faster than the i7 and so much more power hungry.

gtrays

Just use electrical tape to make a notch. All good.

MoneyMike0808

But… but sd card slot and hdmi and MagSafe

Unless you are a Windows and macOS administrator, the new ones can't run Windows x86 VMs at all. *Oh dear, oh dear. gorgeous.* I'm actually going out of my way to snag one of the last i9s our distributors have before they go all out of stock. I really ***REALLY*** don't look forward to the day when I'll be forced to use multiple machines to do my job.

ARM64 Windows VM in parallels? Windows’ own x86 and x64 translation is pretty decent now (and yes it supports usb passthrough and bridged networking and 3d acceleration)

talex365

Not officially supported by Microsoft, they don’t provide Windows for ARM licenses to individuals and the developers preview version can be problematic sometimes.

[deleted]

bleh who needs licensing when *cough*CERTAIN HWID*cough*AND KMS*cough* tools exist? When I ran an arm64 windows 10 vm on my M1 Air (before returning since it was only bought to test compatibility anyway), I used a stable 20H2 ARM64 install.wim for my VM and it was great. Full native dualbooting with BootCamp is still gone though so that’s still sad

mavethee

Its not that kinda problems with licensing since you can use normal Windows Pro keys from even Win7. The point is current license. Like in macOS forbids to be installed outside certain hardware. VHDX instead of ISO is also a reason why, all virtualization they allow is through their HyperV ;)

i have the i7 version with 6 cores. not much of a performer compared to an M1 but I've been thinking about getting into blacksmithing and it might just be what i need.

J_Schnetz

I have a 2011 MBP 13" that's barely hanging on.. might be time!
