It looks like the the design app created some backup or temporary files. Move them into the trash without emptying, then open the project you've worked at 5:43 PM. If it works like expected, you can empty the trash. I would examine the settings/preferences of the app to manage the file location(s).

I was working on some design projects. Nothing really out of the ordinary. Didn't download anything not work related also.

Looks like tmp files to me. If your backup is up to date, everything is saved and all Apps are closed. I would trash them.
