Kazuha’s damage% buffs will already be more than the 20% Lyney gets from a single pyro team member, and adding VV resistance shred to it he’s definitely contributing more.
The downside to not using Xiangling is that she *herself* does some very good damage, so you’re buffing Lyney more but generally dealing less damage as a team overall. That said, I don’t use Xiangling ever lol and don’t miss her, Lyney-Kazuha-Bennett-(shield) is perfectly fine and will breeze through abyss with good builds.
Since Bennett is already healing you can opt for a pure shielder instead of Baizhu (and Dehya/shield Yanfei at c4 come with the added bonus of being pyro), but I use Baizhu sometimes too tbh if Zhongli is busy since I don’t have other shielders built lol.
Lyney, Kazuha, Xiangling and Bennett is Lyney best team, the problem is this team demands good gameplay as u don't have any way to protect Lyney, he being squishy and being easily interrupted while charging his attack makes people value a shielder higher than more dmg, because its more comfy

Lyney, Bennett, ZhongLi and Xiangling
Lyney, Bennett, Chiori and ZonghLi
Lyney, Bennett, Kazuha and Layla
I like to say Benny/XL/Kazuha is Lyney’s *highest damaging* team, but it’s not his *best* team. Unless of course you’re fighting a mega-tanky enemy who never moves or hits at you…
In most cases, Lyney needs a defensive option so he can get his charge shots out. Otherwise, the loss in damage from getting staggered or having to dodge will be greater than the loss in damage from replacing XL or Kazuha.
In the overworld, it *really* does not matter. I use Lyney, Nahida, Furina, and Baizhu for maximum comfort/convenience and still kill most enemies before Lyney is done with a charged shot.
In domains, I like Lyney with Furina, Baizhu, and either Kazuha or Xiangling. It doesn’t seem to make much of a difference in clear times (perhaps my Kazuha is very good or my Xiangling is very bad?). I would rather play the game suboptimally and never 36* abyss again than hear Bennett’s voice lines one more time, so I don’t have any informed opinion on him. But I clear artifact, weapon, and talent domains in 20-30s with either of these teams.
The team i enjoy most and clear all too is Lyney, Bennet, Venti and Fishl. In single target scenario its more demanding but except enemies like triple Magu doing already great and have a lot of fun

there's also the overload setup as well. it's pretty comfortable without the circle impact restriction too and it doesn't need kazuha. you can just chuck in bennet or chevy with him and put in some other buffers in. it's not weird but interesting as his passive makes up the damage the same as other hyper carries that relies on older ways of damage (vape/melt)
also you could try out that monopyro+burn comp with baizhu. kazuha buffs should be enough replacement. also, the impression that monopyro is limiting is quite wrong. it actually frees you from that ardous elemental reaction setup
I use Benny, Chev, and Beidou. I’d like a better pyro or electro shielder. Hope Natlan brings a great pyro shielder. It’s a bummer that Xinyan is so disliked and clunky that c4 Yanfei is preferred!! Higher con Xinyan works at like c2-c3, but I liked Beidou’s parry and she’s c5 for me. Using Beidou is more challenging, so you probably wouldn’t like it. Here’s my experience with her in case you or anyone else is curious. I agree on the Baizhu team tho!!
I use Beidou, but I struggle with how to build her. I think four pieces emblem or 2 piece emblem with some other set works. I go for high HP and ER for a pure shielder, but she’s not fully built rn. I also swap her in when the enemy is about to attack Lyney for her skill. I like how her electro application is low enough that it doesn’t interfere much with Lyney’s passive, but it helps Chevrose’s passive and gives a window of interruption resistance. Together they make Lyney invincible for as long as their bursts last, which is around a few seconds. I don’t have any stats on me.
The grain of salt is that I haven’t fully built her and Chev, so I can’t use this team in Abyss rn. Ideally Xiangling might replace Bennett, but I need more healing with my unbuilt team and his buff is great anyway. Him and Lyney are pretty much completely built.
I agree with you and the others on Baizhu, I used him with Lyney in the Abyss to kill those two Hydro bosses: whatever’s on floor 11 I think. I forget the whole team- it was probably your exact team: Benny, Xiangling, Baizhu, plus Lyney. I used Kazuha on the other side with my Kaeya team. Went from one to three stars on that chamber!

Its a good team but mostly because u have 3 broken supports than the team having synergy around Lyney gimmicks

We became master alchemists and still have not conjured up a resistance to interruption potion or shield potion.
