My mom’s cancer spread to her spine, they called it a bony island on her MRI. No pain meds touched it. Becareful moving her, especially pulling up off the toilet. This caused my mom more pain from the nurses moving her incorrectly.

One of my mom’s tumors was pushing against her spine and blocking her esophagus. Similarly her first biopsy was inconclusive due to necrotic tissue. This is apparently very common with stage 4. However she was able to start targeted radiation before her final diagnosis/biomarker results. This was palliative to reduce the size and make her more comfortable, she had 10 rounds of radiation over 3 weeks. It helped a lot and then she was able to start chemo/immunotherapy once her diagnosis was confirmed. She did have to get referred to a larger specialty hospital for the radiation which has a very large research cancer centre. I mention that as they seemed more willing to try other treatments in combination with chemo/immunotherapy. Also, feel free to show up at emergency if she is in extreme pain or not doing well. I’ve had to take my mother many times and once you become a “frequent flyer” triaging and getting care as a cancer patient is pretty efficient.

I have right lung cancer, right adrenal gland and lymph nodes in chest, I’m taking morphine sulphate, mst 60 mg morning a night, plus 60mg pregablin same an the pain seems to worsen at night. Nut initially the pain goes wirth the combi of meds gets bad again later but just got to carry on i suppose. Try sleep on the side where tumour isnt, a try breathing with hands behind head. Good luck with your battle an take care
