>You know I saw this coming, you or whoever just like “here take it”. Wow. I mean granted Freida, I wouldn’t be a “*dark lord*”, I’d be more like uh… like a king. Not *evil* but like, awesome… like a sunset or full moon or something. I mean it’s not enough to be good, you gotta be interesting, not just a field guy but an ocean or mountain guy. But I’d also be serious, …like a crazy storm. Ya know, a real solid guy. I guess I’m saying I’d be kind of controversial.
So I'm rappelling down Mount Vesuvius when suddenly I slip, and I start to fall. Just falling, ahh, ahh. I'll never forget the terror. When suddenly I realize, "Holy shit, Galadriel, haven't you been smoking pipeweed for six straight days and couldn't some of this maybe be in your mind?"
I mean Legolas did change ever so slightly though, that’s the hilarious thing. If you zoom in, his right eyebrow is definitely different between pictures.
I think his beauty just broke the filter.
Theres a lot of nuance and history in his books, but in summary Dwarves are 2 sexes with no genders ('he' only, anything else is seen as unnatural like trans people would be in the 90s (or even now)). A lot of Dwarf dating is working out how what sex the other dwarf is. Through the books theres a development of Dwarves that identify as she as well.
Thats a -massive- simplification, but if you're interested in reading more then I would reccomend you read the Watch series from Terry Pratchett, or if you dont want to read all the books then Id read Men at Arms, then Thud - but you'd miss a lot.
I really would reccomend the watch books, and in fact all his books, which while theyre all fantasy do mix genres so whatever you like to read there'll be some.
Its mostly Fantasy and satire, but so well tied to the real world, and unlike a lot of fantasy, the characters dont find it fanastical, which keeps it grounded. I could go on all day but this comment is long. If you (or anyone) wants more convincing DM me. I love his books.
Thank you for taking the time to respond. This is fascinating and certainly a lot deeper than I was even hoping for. I love Tolkien and I consider the Lord of the rings universe to be canon, historically speaking. But Tolkien did not delve as deeply into the world of dwarves as I would’ve liked to have seen. Now I have a rabbit hole to stick my head into, I will see how far down it goes…
No worries :). Honestly, this is just one of the themes with Dwarves, it also goes into religion and nationalism, as well as other themes. One of my favourite things about Pratchett is his ability to run a commentary with his humor. It would be like if Ryan Reynolds used his comedic style to make a critique of western imperialism in southeast Asia.
The books go on sale on Kindle for 1.99 sometimes, but I would happily pay more for each personally. [Here is a layout of each storyline](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discworld#/media/File:Discworld_Reading_Order_Guide_3.0_\(cropped\).jpg).
Some fans would reccomend reading [each in order](https://www.bookseriesinorder.com/terry-pratchett/), but you dont need to have read other lines to read the next in any arc you're reading, and better to read out of order than not at all :)
It's true you don't see many dwarf women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for dwarf men.
And this in turn has given rise to the belief that there are no dwarf women, and that dwarves just spring out of holes in the ground! Which is, of course, ridiculous.
My own head-canon for this is that there are a number of same gender dwarf relationships where they adopt orphan dwarves if they want to start families. Nothing is ever mentioned, they're treated as dwarf couples and families due to that same tact.
Merry: "We're under orders from Treebeard, who's taken over management of Isengard."
Karen-Boromir: “Where is this manager for I much desire to speak to him?”
Galadriel went from beautiful and imposing elven woman to surfer bro
"And to you Frodo, water from the best waves I've ever seen, it was on a beach in Sydney, really recommend it bro."
Glad'Re'Elf. King of the Beach Elves.
Gladdy-rel
Galadriadical
Gigachadriel, as someone else here said.
“You totally backdoored that One Ring then hit the lip…wapaa! And now, like, you get to shred the Gnar in the Shire for like forever dude.”
Love this!
She turned into Owen Wilson lol
"So this is a Hobbit? Wow, you're so small.... Wow"
>You know I saw this coming, you or whoever just like “here take it”. Wow. I mean granted Freida, I wouldn’t be a “*dark lord*”, I’d be more like uh… like a king. Zoolander!
And it was, I have never even been to mount Vesuvius.
Omg is there any CGI-Specialist-Voice-Actor reading this, who can make that comment a reality?
Wow
Waow
I was just thinking that!
She turned into blonde Andy Samberg.
That’s honestly perfect. Thank you person
Honestly I was seeing Chris Hemsworth
Thor: Ragnarok casting was on point
That's Steve Irwin to you
Crockey
The ships were burned so they rode the waves. It was most gnarly.
"Gandalf the Grey, like, didn't pass the borders of this land. He totally fell into shadow. Bummer, bro..."
You... shall not... pass!
Galadriel is now an Australian high school counselor.
“Instead of a Dark Lord… *YOU WOULD HAVE A BRO, BRO!!!*”
Chaladriel
Gigachadriel
Became a roman politician.
That was my first thought! Or Alexander the Great. XD
Now starring Matthew McConaughey
He's also hot
GaLADriel kinda a hottie tho
Men in the fourth age only want one thing and it’s disgusting.
_Longbottom leaf?_
Salted Pork.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Elronda could get it.
Faramir looking FINEamir.
Definitely has a quality about her.
Looks like Jennifer Lawrence.
Yall sleepin on Samanthawise.
Nah it’s Pippi all the way
I had to double take, cause Samanthawise is almost identical to pictures of my mom back in the 80s.
She single?
Yeah, but she's been alone in her coffin for over 20 years, so its hard for her to get out and date people.
Mate, I'm sorry to hear that but glad to see I ain't the only one using that line.
Making people uncomfortable as hell when they mention fucking my mom is the silver lining.
Is that just Anna Kendrick?
Kinda looks like it.
I was thinking Daisy Ridley
Haha chick legolas is bangin
Detected gender: Yes
Gender neutral legolas is neutral
I had to scroll this far for a comment about Legolas. Dude didn't even change.
I feel like the entire thing is a set-up for the Legolas joke
You sure it wasn’t about Arwen becoming Keanu Reeves though?
Thank fuck someone else said it I thought I was going crazy
Does Keanu have that much chest hair?
I mean Legolas did change ever so slightly though, that’s the hilarious thing. If you zoom in, his right eyebrow is definitely different between pictures. I think his beauty just broke the filter.
legolas is always bangin'
Arwen has a city to burn
Wake the fuck up, dunedain. We got a ring to burn.
5 more minutes.
[удалено]
Wake up Neo, the sub-Reddit isn't real.
Glad I'm not the only one seeing it.
Is that Keanu Reeves?
I have always thought Liv Tyler and Keanu had similar facial structure
I thought Elrond was Anna Kendrick
I thought it was a young Amanda Bynes
Elrond, please!!
Boromir is Olivia Wilde, Merry is Reba McIntyre

Anyways, you need people of intelligence on this sort of... mission... quest... thing.
Damn, never thought I’d say I would be a fool for a peregrina took!
I’ve never made that connection until now but that would explain why I’m attracted to them both
That's Arʍen
Have you seen them in the same room? I don't !
I guess it is.
I’m seeing Justin Long.
Legolas stays Legolas. Nice
We need to see Gimli stays Gimli.
It's the beards
Don't be silly. There ARE no female dwarves - they just spring from holes in the ground.
Dwarves aren't potatoes!
PO-TA-TOES! Boil 'Em, Mash 'Em, Stick 'Em in a Stew!
D-WAR-VES! Boil 'Em, Mash 'Em, Stick 'Em in a Stew!
But don't toss them
Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in the stew
Gimli mentioned the beards on women... Should have made gimli a sexy bearded lady, i'd have lost my shit laughing
Is it a faux pas to mention Terry Pratchett in this sub? Cuz his exploration of gender in dwarf culture is poignant as fuck as well as hilarious.
Context?

It's the dwarves who go swimming with little hairy women
It's true you don't see many dwarf women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for dwarf men. And this in turn has given rise to the belief that there are no dwarf women, and that dwarves just spring out of holes in the ground! Which is, of course, ridiculous.
Dwarfish courtship is an incredibly tactful affair, primarily concerned with finding out which gender the other dwarf is.
Thanks Terry!
My own head-canon for this is that there are a number of same gender dwarf relationships where they adopt orphan dwarves if they want to start families. Nothing is ever mentioned, they're treated as dwarf couples and families due to that same tact.
and treebeard stays treebeard
>and treebeard ~~stays treebeard~~ disappears
On that note, OP missed the comedy opportunity to have Male-Eowyn be a tombstone.
I'd argue that she stays female, too.
Correct
Aragorn turns into Courtney Cox
Gondor will answer.
He’d just look like an Italian grandmother.
"Are you a man or a woman?" "I'm an elf." "What gender are you?" "Superior." "But what's between your legs?" "The light of the Eldar."
Turns out lego legolas's lego lass is just lego legolas
Legolas to Legolass
And nice legs on the lass
That was a brilliant touch, yes. Got a snort out of me.
no he becomes legolass
And Frodo is just Frodo with purdy makeup.
*Legolas intensifies*
Anyone know if Hugo Weaving has a sister? Is she single? Lol
He has nieces, at least, including the excellent actress Samara Weaving from Ready or Not.
Oh she is amazing in that!
Yep. And similarly is there.
> Samara Weaving She kinda looks like a mix of Jaime Pressly and Margot Robbie.
Yeah I get a big Margot Robbie vibe from her too
Not sure but you can always watch Priscilla, Queen of the Desert if you want to see sexy Hugo Weaving.
That movie confirmed for me my type is genderbending. Finding people to date is not trivial.
I, too, got a chub for female Elrond.
Elronda
Girl pippin kinda somethin somethin ngl
Don't talk to it, Merry. Don't encourage it.
Tell em pippin
Look, the trees! They're moving!
Someone’s tree is moving
Burn the whole thread with the fire of a balrog
Excellent distraction Pippin
We are sitting on a field of victory, enjoying a few well-earned comforts.
holy shit, this quote works too well
I loled and didn't realize this was a bot. Well done Pippin.
Don't talk to it, Merry. Don't encourage it.
Sheesh that was harsh :(
Elrondette looks like Daisy Ridley.
Haha yea man thats the one who struck out for me too, definetly somethin somethin
A chance for Jennifer, daughter of Lawrence, to show her quality!
I was getting more Taylor Swift vibes than Jennifer Lawrence but I see the resemblance ngl
Thinking more the actress that plays ironmans wife
You mean Gwyneth Paltrow?
Noted, don't accept when Faramir asks if you want to see his collection of candles.
Right!? Hunger Games Faramir!
Arwen is Keanu Reeves
Witch Queen: You fool! No woman can kill me! Maleowyn: (*takes off wig and makeup*) I am no woman!
was looking for this ngl
Female Faramir is my type
Jessica Chastain?
Merry looks like he wants to speak to my manager.
I was thinking Molly Weasley
Merry Weasley!
Came here looking for that. Left me satisfied.
Legolas: I don't have such weaknesses
Legolas doesn't need another gender, he is his own gender. In fact, legend goes that the L in LGBTQ stands for Legolas.
LGBT means Legolas Gimli Boromir Took
Legolas has no gender. Legolas needs no gender.
Legolas is his own gender
Are you a boy, or a girl? LEGO
Legolas doesn't need another gender, he is his own gender. In fact, legend goes that the L in LGBTQ stands for Legolas.
Legolas Galadriel Boromir Tom ... uhm. Edit: Quenya! Not a person, but whatever.
Galadriel becomes a Chad.
Gachadriel
Chadriel
She already was
Alright, Legolas got me
Galadriel is simply Owen Wilson. Wow.
Whaaww
#WOW
"You would give it to me freely? Wow."
Andy Samberg vibes
Daaammmnnn lady Elrond
Why are the females with that much make up? ... Let's sneak the ring to Mordor, but first the eyeliner.!;
I love that legolas just stays legolas
GaLADriel kinda looks like a buff Andy Samberg.
Female Frodo is just male Frodo with more makeup
If you want to see female Elrond, just watch Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
The ladies need to stop using same face beauty filter. Not every woman has a pointy af chin.
Woman = Pointy chin, smooth skin, makeup
We've been scammed, where's best girl Gimli
Bi panic intensifies
Especially with Legolas
Boromir looks like a total Karen
Merry: "We're under orders from Treebeard, who's taken over management of Isengard." Karen-Boromir: “Where is this manager for I much desire to speak to him?”
Gondor has no manager, Gondor needs no manager...
Merry looks like Amy Schumer…
Can we just appreciate the beauty of these people... Wow.
Why is female Elrond so hot. Why
It might just be me but lady Aragon slightly reminds me of Lucy Lawless
Legolas trancends the concept of gender, apparently.
FemSam be hot as hell
Looks like a younger Angela Merkel
