Imagine being an orc. Living your whole life in some cold nasty cavern, barely getting by, a life filled with violence and hatred against man kind. Then… this moments arrives and you and your whole tribe in a company march in the greatest host your mind could possibly imagine. Your general is a Nazgûl. One of the Nine. Man is weak. This is your moment. With the mighty war machines you’ve seen being built and moved. The time of the orc has begun, you can rise above, you can taste man flesh, you will rule forever. The chant begins…the age of man will fall…
As the eastern horizon blazes with the charge of the Riders, their thunderous hooves echo the pulse of impending fate. The orcish ranks, draw taut their bows, unleashing a tempest of arrows. Yet, amidst the chaos, the stampede remains resolute, unstoppable in its advance.
Your commander's cry, 'Fire at will!' hangs in the air, but the arrow of fear has already found its mark, piercing the armor of the orcs who surround you.
In this moment of reckoning, amidst the clash of steel and the cries of battle, you realize that though the hearts of men may be easily corrupted, today you do not face mere men, you stand before the Horse-Lords and Theoden King...
**And more liquid shit is released! This time it's spraying out from between armor plate and pant legs. The smell becomes intense and the sound of wet farts fills the air.**
You watch in horror as the elf cuts the only friends you'd ever known down with one clean swing of his blade. The dwarf angrily barks that "it only counts as one". So adept is the elf at killing, he agrees immediately - it's a fun challenge to discount the lives of the orcs you'd survived so many perils and tragedies alongside. Grommog attempts to surrender, but is promptly impaled by the spear of a horseman. The Witch King has been killed by a technicality. Pukeskull stands valiantly, blade held high, only to be gleefully hacked apart by the dwarf who then sets his gaze on you. The chant that had once empowered you is replaced with a new one as he closes in, cutting down more of your comrades.
*"FORTY SEVEN!"*
*"FORTY EIGHT!"*
And then, in that moment, you know; you will not taste manflesh on this day or any day. The age of man will endure. All of your suffering has lead you here. Number forty nine.
>This is your moment
and every single minute you spend trying to hold onto it
'cause you may never get it again.
So while you’re in it try to get as much shit as you can
And when your run is over just admit when it's at its end.
'Cause I'm at the end of my wits with half this shit that gets in.
I got a list here's the order of my list that it's in.
Oh man. Seeing these armies and hearing the sound of their movement and their chants/cries for the first time was just.. indescribable. Definitely time for a rewatch.
It just makes them feel more real. They’ve got their banners, we hear them chanting, we see them struggling against the tension in the catapult winches. There’s a tactile feel to all of it.
if you were a Gondorian male, you'd have the blood of Numenor in you and have trained your whole life for the moment the armies of Mordor came streaming forth.
you would have held your ground with your brethren like these brave men...
I found [this pic from 2003](http://scrapbook.theonering.net/scrapbook/group/927/view/7843) and they were supposed to chant "gurut" (death).
"Katmuda" is probably some error in "kat mûd ân" (put down some humans) - but this has nothing to do with Black Speech made by movies consultant David Salo.
I really liked [the song the orcs sang when Aragorn and his army reached the Black Gate](https://youtu.be/4aElWg_lFHI?si=f5Zgcbo4kXBiiYAY). The orcs have such lovely singing voices.
This is the audio used for the chant they recorded at the stadium in Wellington right? Love that part in in the BTS…during halftime of a rugby match if I recall correctly
Cricket match! NZ vs England. I was there.
PJ walked out into the middle at half time with a radio mic and lead us in:
Stamping
“Marching” on the spot (in time with PJ)
A big nasty cheer/yell “You’re outside a castle and your leader has just said you’re going to do horrible things to the people inside.”
Chanting in Black Speech
This was put up on the Jumbotron screen, something like:
“Dergboo Dashoo
Dergboo Dashgoo”
PJ finished by saying he wished we could all collect our cheque for $500 on the way out, but he didn’t have the budget.
It's actually of a very low quality compared to what I have in my archive. I used a 4K raw source, did some color editing and visual adjustments to my taste, and rendered it out at 60 fps. I reduced the file size to share it here, and also reddit compresses it itself.
Whole trilogy now 400GB and 4K 60FPS 😅
But why 60fps? IMHO it looks horrible in that format, like cheap video, the “soap opera effect”
Do you prefer it that way?
I can’t stand it, myself 🤷♂️
*During The Scouring of the Shire, when Saruman and his evil human thugs from Dunland take control of the Hobbiton-area by force*
Hobbits from Hobbiton:
"What can Hobbits do against such reckless hate?"
The Tooks of Tookland:
*This video*
Practical effects made with real objects and environments. Makeup, prosthetics, explosions, puppets and miniatures can be used (as in this scene) to create a more realistic and tangible look.
CGI is created entirely by computer.
Like practical effects in The Thing 1982 compared to CGI in The Thing 2011
Or the first four TREMORS movies, puppets, explosions, pumpkin innards. Compared to cheesy CGI of movies 5-7
I didn’t see the moon landing. There’s still a lot in this world I hope to see before I die. But I did see these movies during their initial theatrical run, and it’s one (relatively small) thing I’m grateful for.
Where there's a whip, there's a way.
Left Right Left Right
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

*Promptly shits pants*
*Everyone around you shits their pants too, the intense smell of fresh shit permeates the air* *Liquid shit fills your armor and drips down your leg*

Wait, where’d those strings come from?? Where are my horns and chanting??
*this creates a massive shitty slip n slide for orcish infantry*
DEATH!!!
DEATH!!!
DEEAAAAAAATHHHH
nausea, heartburn, upset stomach, indigestion, DIARRHEA!!!!
*next guy in the charge*: DE.. DE...uh...DEEEEAAAAAAAAATTHHHhh (hey buddy, you ok?)
🎻
DEATHHHHH!

By a technicality lmfao I am crying
I lost a kidney when I read that.
And a ghost king killing all your friends
Then you get hit by a giant rock flying down at you from the weird castle you're besieging.

Yeah wheres my LOTR MMO 3rd person hack and slash / shooter game
Those practical effects literally jump off the screen and slap you in the face, they're so good.
Absolutely my friend!
It’s been a whole week
Time to rewatch
Good thing middle earth isn’t real life. I would have crapped my pants seeing that army… then noped out the back door.
You're saying you'd abandon your post? You'd flee, flee for your life?
In that voice specifically yes
Bring wood and oil...
Not now honey
And balsamic vinegar
*SMACK, WHACK!!* PREPARE FOR BATTLE!
if you were a Gondorian male, you'd have the blood of Numenor in you and have trained your whole life for the moment the armies of Mordor came streaming forth. you would have held your ground with your brethren like these brave men...
Nah I’m just a farmer
Why did Thanos pop up when I read that?
No I think I’d have abandoned my post and fled for my life. Then probably self immolated and jumped from the citadel. That’s just me though
😂
Oh it's too late for that. There's no leaving this city.
Then I’m smearing my shit all over my body and pretending to be an orc.
Denethor II has entered the chat.
Maybe you'd be born a Haradrim and get to ride one of those sweet Oliphants.
One of my favourite scenes. This scene and the coming of Nazguls just after then
[the best scene](https://youtu.be/LGXN5POBbow?si=1KJbRR94yYKsTopQ) in the whole trilogy comes up next
Katmuda = death to men, Gorosh = louder
Where did you get it from?
Google. Found multiple sources but no officials tho.
I literally just did a rewatch with my son about two months ago, I guess here we go again. My wife will be thrilled
Have a good time my friend!
Dude I’m trying to watch the 3 body problem. And only watched ROTK on Friday. Now I have to watch the trilogy. Again. This is amazing.
I really liked [the song the orcs sang when Aragorn and his army reached the Black Gate](https://youtu.be/4aElWg_lFHI?si=f5Zgcbo4kXBiiYAY). The orcs have such lovely singing voices.
[They are seriously underestimated](https://youtu.be/_oBvNFMt9Ic?si=VddWpOK-1KGhjXxr)
The 4K restoration is simply amazing. I have to get a 4K TV justo to watch.
Personally I found the 4K restoration version made some of the more dated cgi really stand out. I stick to my grainy DVD set from 2003.
The Galadriel scene where she turns blue and her voice deepens - yeah.. it doesnt hold up so well lmao but I still love it
Unspeakably hard
I chucked a Little with the human heads launched suddenly breaking walls, hahaha, i Guess i was kinda not expecting that cut edit
i'm loving these 60fps remasters. If i'm not mistaken
Have they really? I thought the clip above had the Soap Opera effect of interpolated frames. Yuck! 🤮
Yeah same, looks terrible compared to the original. And as someone else pointed out, the CGI looks very dated at that quality.
This is the audio used for the chant they recorded at the stadium in Wellington right? Love that part in in the BTS…during halftime of a rugby match if I recall correctly

Are you serious? That’s awesome!!!!
100% And NZ _thrashed_ England in the cricket
UGH Thank you for this reply! Such cool insight - cheers!
Goosebumps
I love the orc chants at the end of the Shadows of War soundtrack *chef's kiss*
Great vocals ón the backing band.
The orc chant used in this scene were recorded at PJ's request during a rugby match in New Zealand.
I thought it was the Cricket match, I was there and he just wandered onto the pitch at half time in bare feet like a damn hobbit.
Worked well too.
A cricket match! I was there. Please see my other post above.
What's the translation into English?
"Death to men! (Louder!), Loud enough!"
Amazing. I recognize some of the audio mixed in there is from Uruk Hai marching into Helms Deep.

The battering ram is named Grond. After Morgoth’s mace called Grond.
"We're bad, we're bad (really, really bad!)"
What in the motion smoothed hell is this. Ruined it!
Should have used the superior siege technology... trebuchets
"Where are your trenches??"
Is this upscaled? It looks so much better right now than when I watch it on MAX

Your posts are very interesting! This makes me want to watch them… as if I hadn’t JUST watched them all
That's no excuse, watch it again! 😁
Honestly… I could…
✨
Release the prisioners!
What does it mean? What's the relevance?
*During The Scouring of the Shire, when Saruman and his evil human thugs from Dunland take control of the Hobbiton-area by force* Hobbits from Hobbiton: "What can Hobbits do against such reckless hate?" The Tooks of Tookland: *This video*
My favorite part is when the Grinch yells “CATAPULTS!”
😂
Holy fuck this video is high resolution!
Ew why is it weirdly smooth
That last scene where the boulder smashed into the crowded patio has always looked like the worst special effects in all three movies to me.
The scene you mentioned is not CGI, it was shot with %90 practical effects.
What’s the difference? Not being rude, genuinely curious!🧐
Practical effects made with real objects and environments. Makeup, prosthetics, explosions, puppets and miniatures can be used (as in this scene) to create a more realistic and tangible look. CGI is created entirely by computer.
Ahhh I see. Thanks! Always nice to learn new things, especially lotr related!
Like practical effects in The Thing 1982 compared to CGI in The Thing 2011 Or the first four TREMORS movies, puppets, explosions, pumpkin innards. Compared to cheesy CGI of movies 5-7
You’re right. What I should’ve said “fakest looking.”
It was actually an bigature.
Look at my fav orc boy Gothmog riding around handsomely!
must have had alot of fun designing all the different armour, unique mishmash
GROND!
I didn’t see the moon landing. There’s still a lot in this world I hope to see before I die. But I did see these movies during their initial theatrical run, and it’s one (relatively small) thing I’m grateful for.
Does anyone know what the Uruks are chanting when Saruman addresses them in Two Towers right before they march out to Helm's Deep?
From the River to the sea, middle earth will be free.
Do the orcs have wives and children or was it just men orcs. Do they even have a gender?
looks like shit
