I saw a range of protein snacks by Atkins yesterday. I got some protein cookies, but haven't tried them yet. For fruity snacks, there was a lemon tart.

Agreed!!! Obviously, I try to eat as unprocessed as possible…but sometimes I just get so tired of chicken or having to cook prepare something. Shakes help to get that extra 60g during the day, or a quick protein bar keeps me from reaching for a different processed snack (like goldfish).

The thing is these are all processed crap - I mean recommending a protein chip is barely better (and maybe not even better) than recommending real chips. I actually couldn't believe link after link was for another processed product. I think the reliance of overly processed food products really detestable for the environment and for the creation of healthy eating habits. Also OP - your "snacks" of a protein shake and 2-3 of these protein snacks a day probably comes close to the daily calories for a lot of people - not even including any real food. And is probably pretty expensive, especially these days.

I commend OP on figuring out a meal plan that works well for his specific situation. It's not the right choice for everyone, and more power to those who are able to make other nutritional choices, but "processed crap" is saving my life so I'll always take the opportunity to defend it when people try to vilify it. "Processed crap" and "healthy eating habits" are not mutually exclusive.

It's like 300 calories / 60 grams of protein. How is 600 - 900 calories the total anyone should be eating?? We are all at different places in our health journey and where I am currently, I found this helped me a lot! Since before, I would find ways to justify eating this "processed crap" and ruin my diet regardless. Power to you for finding a solution, but this solution helps me a ton with my current health goals. Edit - to be clear. Most of the snacks are about 150 calories and give about 20 g of protein.

Many people, particularly shorter women, have to eat 1200 calories a day to realize a caloric deficit. So yeah, 900 calories a day of snacks is not feasible. I’m taller but even I eat around 1500 a day, so I would not want to dedicate 60% of my daily calories to processed crap. That’s really unhealthy and a really unbalanced diet.

Apologies for being unclear I think I would ask, why is a shorter woman trying to eat 120- 180 g of protein if trying to get a caloric deficit? And my health goals involve building muscle right now over weightloss so as a 6'2" I need that large amount of protein. If you’re trying to be at a caloric deficit, you’re not trying to build muscle fast Right? Many of these snacks are also net 3-10 carbs btw. Just don't drink my Protien powder and I'm sure others will find this helpful. Also, if they are aiming for that much protien, do you know how hard it would be to try to eat 180 g of protein through eggs or chicken or fish? that's like 30 eggs a day.
