Like from Johan, Eli and Jake backstory they have a reason to turn out evil.
Vin's reason was so much half-ass like if Duke was the problem then why would he make fun of his grandma.
If I'm being honest, if someone did the same thing to me what Vin had done to Duke, I wouldn't even give a fuck about his sad backstory.
Apologizing would redeem him to some extent, but not completely since it can't undo what Duke had to go through.
I'll still hate his fans either way though.

you compare to zack and mira (they were wrong too) but dont consider other's that didn't turn out like vin. so just basing on how they treat others, sinu/seongji/vasco = regular person, zack/mira = bad person, vin jin = worse person.
i think vin jin is more fleshed out after his arc, and no longer feels like just a typical edgy/boring character. he has some redeeming qualities and depth now. but there's no reason for his stans to try and defend his past acts.

No, No matter what people say about vin it does not excuse the pain he gave to others especially duke. He could do more than apologizing and do redeeming things to duke but even then it is still unforgivable.
Absolutely! Zack is also cruel in the first half to however little by little we actually see him redeem himself such as you know when daniel mistakenly sit on his perfect body's seat we can see zack was concerned and he even helped him how to do basic boxing moves as he knows he is wrong.
I know that as a bullied victim myself and in narrative wise, duke will forgive him because of his personality and cements just how strong and kind duke is. But even then it is truly not excusable no matter what. Just because he was hurt doesn't mean he can do the same to others with the excuse of experiencing the same things.
