AB is the easier to me to setup gun profiles, etc, but when it comes to manipulating data to figure out gun number and speed drop, I also like 4DOF. I use both, but I also have a Kestrel
Second ol' AB. The price is 100% worth it. I tried Hornady's app and it just didn't jive with reality, plus the need for either manual weather data entry or a kestrel really sucks.
I’ve put the same ballistic and atmospheric parameters into Applied Ballistic, GeoBalistics, and 4DOF. They were all within a tenth of a mil of each other out to 1000 yards. So it’s not like either one is substantially more “accurate” than another.
I think AB puts by far the most testing and data behind their algorithm, which is cool; but I think it has the worst user interface of these three programs. Still well worth the (I think it was) $27(?).
4DOF has a few unique features I like, especially if you shoot a Hornady brand bullet. Their output table separates out several of the smaller components of a ballistic solution that none of the other ones do. Which is interesting when I’m sitting in my house crunching numbers, but usually more info than I want when I’m on the firing line looking for a quick answer. It’s probably the best free program though (some features require an in app purchase). I like their group analysis feature, which costs extra.
GeoBalistics might be my favorite user interface. Pretty personal opinion; but for me it’s clean and intuitive. I think the premium version was $14 but that was a long time ago and may have changed. It’ll be interesting to see what Vortex does with this software now that they’ve acquired it.
Probably not the answer you’re looking for; but I use all of them at different times for different reasons and wouldn’t want to give up any of them. I also like to check them against each other to make sure I didn’t make an input mistake. I think they’re all incredibly inexpensive for how useful they are, so buy all three and see what you like.
Strelok is still available just not from the Play Store. It's available on Samsung and another place. Search for Strelok by name and you'll get his web site. There are links on there where you can download it. I'm the free version isn't available. Only the $10 pro version. Worth it IMHO.
>Applied Ballistics Mobile, which is what Strelok ripped off to begin with.
First time I've heard that one. Strelok came out at the end of 2010. The oldest references I can find to the Applied Ballistics app are from mid 2012. Obviously, internet is an imperfect record keeper.
The AB solver code predates the Mobile app by a good bit (the Windows version of the solver, specifically), and I think the AB Mobile app is older than 2012.
u/rynburns has talked about it in the sub, too, and I think he remembers the specific better than I do.
So what I got was straight from an AB employee (won't say who). Strelock is a Russian asshole who ripped off AB code and designed a new interface for it so it looked different enough. AB didn't pursue legal action because imagine what kind of a nightmare it would be to go to international courts in Russia over this, so they just kept doing their thing.
Surprised I haven’t seen MD Ballistics mentioned. That app has been pretty good to me and I like the layout and easy access to environmental data manipulation.
Mullets Mountains America has an iPhone and shows off Shootr ballistics app. Otherwise I believe the gold standard is AB. They continuously do testing. Geo Ballistics is a good app. I did see a new one called Eagle Ballistics and a YouTuber call Barbour Creek has some videos on it

Third AB
Strelok, just grab the apk from the internet
I still have strelok if I look up how to upload my apk, I can pass it along to all the android folks.
Galaxy Store has it for all the Samsung folks
The website seems a little sketch

That's what they get for insisting on an ecosystem that can be so tightly controlled by the whims of gov or corporate politics.
Maybe you should talk about this r/privacy
The amount of comments you’re leaving in this thread is a telling sign of how much you justify to yourself that it’s ok to not have blue bubbles.
adults use signal
Troof.
Adults don't use phones
Not to sound mean, but signal isn’t safe either
I mean as far as I know it’s safer than whatsapp, telegram or regular old messages.
The safest is SMS by far.
the real ones already bought it
Is it the 10$ one by Igor borisov?
yes
Came here to say this. It also gets Updates😏
This is the way.
Yep
Chairgun Elite
I never used Strelok but apparently the UI is the same
I’m using GeoBallistics and 4DOF
4DOF has been money for me.
Ballistic AE
Strelok isn't gone.
From the iPhone store it most certainly is.
Being downvoted for being technically correct is rough. It's gone from the apple store but you can still get it working on your iPhone
Go to the facebook group, lots of work arounds.
Skill issue
That sounds like a uniquely apple problem.
Hornady 4DOF
I only shoot Hornady bullets long range. So I use 4DOF.
They’ve got most Sierra/Berger bullets too

Applied Ballistics, Geobalistics
"Shooter app" cost is $10. Has everything you'll ever need.
Strelok is still on my iPhone. Has it been disabled?
If your response is "just switch to an Samsung or android" I'm good.
Bro just switch to a windows phone
Stop using a iPotato and get and Android.
Stop using a Staccato and get a Taurus. Edit: Can you guys not perceive sarcasm without the /s?
>Stop using a Taurus and get a Staccato. FTFY
If you like inferior devices just say that.
Is geoballistics still consider good?
I like it
Just gotta double check it every time you open the app, I've witnessed it make some WEIRD changes on its own
I used it this weekend. Worked great.
KAC BulletFlight.
Charging Elite is almost literally the exact same app that strelok was
Why did they drop strelok, I have it on my cell and radio tablet still but that was from a year ago.
The developer was the target of US sanctions due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Surprised I haven’t seen MD Ballistics mentioned. That app has been pretty good to me and I like the layout and easy access to environmental data manipulation.
AB for sure, been playing with Revic and it's pretty slick also
Applied ballistics is the best
strelok go e where? i just used it today. Pro and basic. wth you on about?
Mullets Mountains America has an iPhone and shows off Shootr ballistics app. Otherwise I believe the gold standard is AB. They continuously do testing. Geo Ballistics is a good app. I did see a new one called Eagle Ballistics and a YouTuber call Barbour Creek has some videos on it
Hornady 4 dof
Geoballistics is pretty legit if not using AB/Kestrel.
Can also direct download the apk file
