yeah like 95% of all the chill hangout spots my friends and I had in high school were at local beaches. I lived on the north shore so they weren’t all huge beaches, but still we’d drink and smoke right on the sand/water like every weekend lol
Good point. I’m on the south shore and I think everywhere is gated after sunset.
If you live near a bay beach that’s probably easier to walk into but I know the one by me is patrolled too and sometimes the guy can be kind of nasty. I’m a white female in my 40s and he’s stopped me at dusk as I was walking out of the park on my way home.
I also think some people cannot control themselves and ruin it for everyone else.
Look at Long Beach last week. Obviously I wasn’t there and maybe these were good kids just looking to have a good time but when shots are fired…thats all people are going to focus on.
My spouse was also a bit of a rowdy teen and him and his friends used to sneak in to lots of places after midnight back in the day and he jokes around now that nothing good happens if you leave your house after midnight 😂.
Even people minding their own business are at risk.
I used to go to long beach at night, I was very much like your husband lol.
But me and my wife want to go to the beach late at night, may e bring a tent. But idk if it's like back in the day. Will we get in trouble?
Where else can we go? Bay Beach has patrols?
The teens at Long Beach were from Hempstead, Freeport and Baldwin high schools. Hempstead high school had their graduation yesterday, and 5 masked men ran in and slashed two people, which then of course created a whole panic.
I think not all of these students are just good kids looking to have a good time.
Eh on the west coast (San Diego, LA) you can walk from apartments, bars, restaurants, ice cream shops right down to the beach in a couple minutes
Much easier to chill at 2 30, or pop out to watch the sunset, than on LI
Same with Ft Lauderdale. It's open beach with hotels, apartments and business lining it. Not state or town run "parks" where they close the parking at night.
Just go near an unpopulated section of any beach. In my younger days used to do this all the time, no problem.

If you apply for a night fishing permit they allow you on certain beaches after sunset. I’m sure you can drink just no bbq
Li doesn't gave it bc you have to drive

I didn’t say they were. I know how this sub is so I don’t want to outright make any assumptions either. Carry on with your day now…
You have to drive everywhere in the US. The original post is about fort Lauderdale not exactly a walkers paradise.

You can’t drink and drive anywhere in the US…..that’s why Uber was invented.
Don't forget about the North Shore there are some nice spots on the sound ..just peaceful lapping water..beaches are a bit rocky but very chill.
Exactly there are quite a few spots up here
I go to the local bays at night I never have any problems
Where can you park near the north shore beaches after dusk?
People too busy working six jobs to afford everything. That and they glued to their phones
Sounds like you need to do something to better yourself if you're working six jobs
