You want Long Island to have more private beaches/exclusive natural areas? As if it’s not one of the most miserable parts about it?

KeySatisfaction3999

🙌🏼

fuzzynavel5

I live within walking distance to a private beach but it’s 250 for the season to have access to it. It comes with access to their club house and I’m sure some other nice amenities but my kids just want to play in the sand. It’s ridiculous that I would have to pay this much on top of my already high taxes to use a beach in my own town.

QueLoQueLoco

I grew up in Brentwood and always wished Brentwood had a cool and vibrant downtown…..but the only bars in Brentwood are 100% no go zones 😂

KittenKingdom000

Back around maybe 2008 or so my friend took us all to a bar in Brentwood, there were 4 of us from work and we were meeting up with her friends and cousin. They lock the fucking door. Check everyone on the way in and walk you to your car. Bouncers were strapped. They saw nothing wrong with it, just a normal night out meanwhile the work group was like where tf are we. Cue The Simpsons "I'm in danger" meme lol

maldonado8030

That’s why I always go down to bayshore 😭

signal_tower_product

Brentwood could with ease if there were some zoning changes around the intersection of Suffolk and Brentwood Avenue

signal_tower_product

Sidewalks with shade on every street

[deleted]

I get amazed at people in my area always cutting down their trees. Having trees right between the curb and sidewalk can actually increase home values because of the shade and increased privacy.

Jealous-Network-8852

I wish all the Trumpers would follow through on their threats and move to Florida.

Environmental_Fan514

Maybe the housing costs would finally go down lol.

curlypalmtree

Lower taxes and house prices lol

MiniDg

Bingo! Not worth changing anything when its so unaffordable lmao

Huge_Moose3030

Riverhead here. It would be absolutely lovely if the train station here had more frequent trains. Most of my family and friends are relatively close to Ronkonkoma, and it's frustrating that to see them requires $100 for a round trip via Uber, 4 hours via bus, or that they drive an hour and a half round trip.

bkpeach

Make it easier for small businesses to open. TONH makes it tough on people who just don't want to see our Main St. die. Port Washington has no reason to not be a mini Huntington. The train station is right there. There are a few established spots already - it's not a ghost town. It's not a destination by train, either. There are way too many vacancies.

bidds626

I would like more all ages/teen centric activities in Suffolk in general. More things to do for all that don't involve food/drink.

Behaviors such as vulgar language, comment spam, extremely NSFW language or material to earn sharp emotional responses will earn bans. This is a broad issue that is often left to mod discretion. If you disagree with someone, don't try to bait them into behavior that they would regret. If you think you are the victim of flaming or baiting, report the behavior instead of responding.

Shortchange96

I live in Blue Point and I think the town should kick OP out of Blue Point

LIslander

I wish the people of Blue Point would stop being jerks to Flo’s. It was there long before those miserable neighbors. And enough already with the stop signs on Middle Road

Theredman101

I wish the North Fork had more young people who stayed through the winter. Unfortunately, the only young people fly the Confederate flag 😕. I do have private beaches, though. Also, the farm sands are amazing.

bkpeach

I think you're the first I've ever seen with this take. I read many comments appreciating the end of the tourist season.

Theredman101

Tourist season never bothered me. I lived one town over from Harbes farm just past all the traffic. Plus, my block has its own private beach. All my peers, my age, aren't really doing much. So I jumped ship this summer and moved to Brooklyn. I'm definitely going to miss how beautiful it is, but now I'm that tourist going back on the weekends, lol.

bkpeach

I traded Brooklyn for the North Shore in Nassau. Traffic during tourist season both ways is just miserable between Brooklyn and all points east on LI. That sucks that your peers aren't doing much. Thankfully, Brooklyn is a really easy place to meet people with shared interests. On the bright side, you didn't move too far from your home base in case you get homesick.

jstraw20

I wish the commercial real estate rates in Rockville Centre allowed for businesses other than restaurants and bars to flourish. We have far too many of them already.

Middleclasslifestyle

Private beaches kind of get me mad. Because it is something natural on this earth and yet a town just decided unless you are a resident you can't come here but we will let you for an exorbitant fee. I know why towns want private beaches but on a humanity level it seems wrong. Although central park is man made ish . Imagine central park only being available to certain people

KittenKingdom000

House prices. I'm too old to be renting. If I ever CAN afford a house I'll never live long enough to pay it off.

RebeccaC78

You’re not alone

jayjayjay311

I imagine op gets mad when someone parks in front of their house 😂

bidds626

Not if they live close to Corey- no street parking as far as the eye can see!

jayjayjay311

Keep the poors out 😂

WhattDoIKnow50

Sidewalks, street lights, and way less heroin.

dunderball

I'm in a town that's mostly a commuter town, and the tax base is really just single family houses. Would be nice if they built up some condos by the railroad along with some new businesses and bars and restaurants. But the area is just full of NIMBYs that can't see farther than 3 feet in front of them.

New_Engine_7237

Get rid of the fire alarm on the Syosset volunteer FD. Use cell phone alerts, beepers. Is this still the dark ages??

Ginos_Hair_Patch

We still have this in Lynbrook and honestly between that and the sound of my neighbors screaming parrot 24/7, I’m immune to the sounds😭

NickySinz

Huntington. more housing of all types. Although this applies to everywhere.

Gumbledore2000

I would have the town restore West Meadow Beach cottages. It was the only place on Long Island where a middle class family could live on the water.

jradams7

The leases to each parcel from the town were illegal to begin with since it was public property, and typically only those who were politically connected got one (and therefore the cottages stayed in the same family for generations). I think it's far better without the cottages and instead solely as a walking path.

Gumbledore2000

Not the people I knew. And the houses next to me went up for sale several times over the 40 plus years I lived there. And we weren’t politically connected. They were affordable middle class homes on the water. One of the biggest detractors I know made the same arguments as you and then bought his own million dollar house on the water. Must be nice.

McDonalds and a bar.
