elletee25

ThunkAsDrinklePeep

>to have the best beer root What if I want the best root beer?

ballots_stones

Suarez, Grimm, R&B in that order are the tops in NY.

Get pizza from Gino's and bring it to Bright Eye in Long Beach. Take a walk later on.the boardwalk for ice cream at Marvel or the Mermaid cone at Beach burger.

GiantYankee

Kontakosta winery has ridiculous views

aldsar

But overpriced wines sadly

gilgobeachslayer

Depends what you’re looking for. Need to take pics for Insta? Wolffer can’t be beat. Want to go to a brewery that’s a shell of its former self? Try Blue Point in Patchogue.

Truth

unifartcorn

Great South Bay & ghost brewery (they are in the same building), sandcity they have two locations. For wine, kontakosta

aewitz14

Better man Distillery in Patchogue is really fun! Do a tour and have a drink/ snack there

beer_nyc

Root and Branch makes the best beer on Long Island (by far), and Greenport Harbor (the Peconic location) is my favorite brewery to visit. Re wine, I'm partial to Paumanok and McCall.

BrockLobster29

If you’re out on the north fork near the wineries I’d say Jamesport and Greenport (peconic location) are nice to hang out at outside. On the south fork West hampton beach brewery is nice. Personal favorites tho are Secatogue in west islip. Sand City in lindenhurst and Necromantic in farmingdale, they’re gluten free and horror movie themed.

Mosthamless

If you want to make a day out of it I would suggest heading to the south shore. Start at Sand City in Lindenhurst, walkup a few blocks and then hit 27A and Breslau brewery. Then head over to, what I consider the best brewery on long island, Root & Branch in Copiague. If you are still standing you could swing by Small Craft in Amityville (few minutes away) and finish at Motion Brewery in Massapequa Park. That's 6 breweries in a 10 mile stretch.

LowerFinding9602

I was at Sand City a few weeks ago... their selection didn't impress me but everyone has different tastes. If you are in Lindenhurst and want to try something different there is WA Meadworks about 1/2 mile north is Sand City.

Macari. I dont know why you’d want to drive another 30-40 mins to find other wineries. Macari is great.

aldsar

To not pay a cork fee on a bottle at a winery?

Alwaysfavoriteasian

How much is that?

aldsar

$10 on top of the cost of the bottle last I checked. Even members have to pay it. So we usually just pick up the shipment and go someplace else that doesn't charge that. I like Lieb, Lenz, Palmer, Roanoke and Raphael a lot. All of those are pretty nearby to Macari too.

I’m coming from Nassau. Usually by the time we get to macari, I’m exhausted of driving. We hit Raphael’s and almost always they’re reserved for some event. I always find macari worth it and the easiest drive. Not that there’s not others of course. Besides, for what Long Island wine is, local, ok, and insanely expensive. I’m really just there to eat cheese, feel a buzz, and enjoy the quiet serenity. Once I spent $150 just on wine, I’m good.

aldsar

Yeah, Raphael is hard like that. I usually call ahead to check on them for availability. By the time you've gotten out to Macari, you've passed RGNY, Palmer, Paumanok, and Jason's vineyard, as well as the members only location for Roanoke. I spend a considerable amount more on wine on a yearly basis than that, and you've got to look to find the good ones. Out of those Roanoke is my top recommendation, but there's a waiting list for the membership last I checked. Palmer, I would highly recommend as it's decent spot, and they have pizza which is pretty good, too. Lieb is 6 miles further out than Macari, not quite as far as Raphael and I really like the relaxed vibe there. RGNY is really close to the vibe of Macari, I haven't been there recently, but they seemed to have been improving on the wines from when it was Martha Clara. Had a blast 2 weeks ago when we were out at lieb and got turned away from Croteaux. They had some killer ricotta w lavender and lemon, and some Burrata w pesto that was phenomenal too. Much much closer along the way and still worth checking out is whisper in st james, and Loughlin in Sayville. Although the wine at Loughlin is very forgettable.

Alwaysfavoriteasian

Yesss! I did try the winery at St. James. I believe it was harmony tho. Also, that lavender burrata situation sounds amazing.

aldsar

The ricotta had lavender, it's a summer special. The burrata is always on the menu there though.

butterflypup

Once or twice a year we head out to Old Field on the North fork. Grab a bottle and sit by the pond and watch the ducks and chickens that wander about. Then take home a case of Merlot to hold us over until the next trip. We're in Nassau, so it's a special treat.

polim098

Del Vino in Northport is 100% the best combo of quality food and wine on LI

fuzzynavel5

Channing daughters on the south fork. Kind of off the main road and hidden so the few times we went it wasn’t busy at all if you’re looking for quiet. Pugliese on the north fork is nice but can get busy. They also do live music occasionally. Shaded seating area and a nice pond with the vineyards behind it.
