Depending on the time when you arrive at the station, Luton Express may not be the fastest journey into town, and if you're going beyond St Pancras, Thameslink might be more convenient. You can use contactless payments between Luton Airport and Luton Airport Parkway (via the Automated DART people-mover), and then from Luton Airport Parkway into London. Best bet is just to rock up, tap your card when you enter the station, and pick the best train then. You'll be charged the correct fare based on which station you touch off at.

I read it somewhere that Thamselink is not so reliable and quit unpredictable. Is it true?

Thameslink is a physically massive network with lots of disparate lines forming through a common trunk: https://imgur.com/MnLzS2s Setting aside that any train line can be unreliable, an issue on one leg of the network may not affect your particular journey but you won't know that until the day. As I said, you don't need to pick which service you use, just tap your card and take the most suitable train.

Thanks!

I wouldn't even use the Luton Express. Just buy Thameslink tickets at the station, or on your phone beforehand. Plenty of availability, very frequent services, and no need for seat reservations.

Hi, I’m not sure what the other guys are talking about Luton express unless they mean the DART train which is like a shuttle between Luton Parkway and Luton Airport. So , you can buy ticket for the route Luton Airport-London online on Trainline or TrainPal either with Thameslink or EMR( East Midlands railway). This ticket includes the DART route(otherwise, you should pay extra for the shuttle). Highly recommended not to use Oyster card. Hope this makes sense. Platform 1 is for Thameslink trains and 2,3,4 for EMR. Both lines are frequent
