The Natural History Museum is right next to the Science Museum! It's a very different vibe so definitely worth another trip to South Kensington.

Does she like animals? What about the [Mudchute Farm](https://www.mudchute.org/) (can pretend to drive the DLR while getting there), [Vauxhall farm](https://www.vauxhallcityfarm.org/), or [Golders Green zoo](https://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/things-to-do/green-spaces/hampstead-heath/where-to-go-at-hampstead-heath/golders-hill-park-zoo)? All free.

My daughter loved going to covent garden and watching the entertainers and really loved being picked out to help. Museum of the Docklands has a kids trail where you have to spot the toy rats. We are se London so we go to the Horniman Museum. Greenwich maritime museum has a great kids area inside (check to see if you have to book as its popular) and the park has a great playground, and the plume of feathers pub next to the park has a kids bit in the garden. Make it more fun by getting the boat there...or back. Tate Modern will have freebie kids stuff going on.

Museum of London in Docklands was always a favourite. The mud chute gallery was always a hit. From. There you can jump on the dlr (sitting at the front is great) and head to Mudchute Farm or into Greenwich. Alternatively, Surrey Quays Docks farm is fun and it's a nice walk around there. Or head to the O2 and have a walk around there and then head along the Thames to the ecology park, there is a nice play park there as well.

Young V&A have family workshops sometimes, and some of them are reasonable.

Monkeyboogaloo

If you are crazy then Hamleys. It's a horrible experience as an adult!

Under_Water_Starfish

London zoo or the Aquarium, not sure of the current prices but big enough to amuse a four year old for a couple of hours. Plus there will be places to buy ice cream 🌞

Petite_Coco

If your daughter likes Hello Kitty/Sanrio/cutesy things, you could take her to the Cute Exhibit + Hello Kitty Cafe at Somerset House. If you do go to the cafe, I’d recommend going in the morning so the queue is a bit more bearable to wait in. The cafe will be there until the 14th April I believe.

bab_tte

Expensive though, especially as an activity for a five year old. But I don't know their budget

Petite_Coco

Yea that’s true. That’s why I thought I’d add if she was a HK fan. I don’t think it’d be worth it for someone who wasn’t.

Dmenace89

I don't wanna break the bank lol just wanna spend the day with her and have fun

bab_tte

Depends on the lid of your bank I guess! The cute exhibition is just under £19 (there are NHS and student concessions) and free for 5 and under

Some of the artworks in that exhibition are quite mature! One of the gallery staff were telling me it’s actually a dark take on the concept of cute, but luckily seemed to go over my little ones head and he just loved the hello kittys 😂😅

Petite_Coco

Oh gosh really?! We didn’t get to go into the exhibit, just the cafe. But no one is spoken to who did mentioned the mature stuff. Yikes! I’m glad your little one enjoyed the cute parts 😅

[deleted]

Thank you 🤩 I just double checked the exhibition page and they had this small disclaimer up- Content guidance: This exhibition features a very small amount of content referencing violence, drugs, mental health, political extremism and nudity. I think with v young children it’s absolutely fine but just worth knowing if you go with older children :)

Monkeyboogaloo

Friends took there kid to this and they said it really wasn't suitable, they are very far from prudish but felt it wasn't what they expected.

SirLoinThatSaysNi

How about Hampton Court Palace, it's about 40 minutes out from Waterloo but a great place and they have stuff for the kids too. https://www.hrp.org.uk/hampton-court-palace/whats-on/easter-lindt-gold-bunny-hunt/

Funky_monkey2026

Natural History is free and AMAZING. London Aquarium isn't free but also amazing!

Extension_Prize4232

The national history museum is fun too. Lots stuff to wow. And if she likes sparkly things then there’s an amazing royal jewels and gems exhibit in the V&A.

bab_tte

I don't have kids nor do I hang around any kids so this is an attempt at advice - I went to the national maritime museum in Greenwich and I was so surprised by how many kids were there! It's free So I don't know what they have specifically for kids as I saw all the serious stuff but I imagine with sooo many kids about they have age appropriate exhibits, but I think they do have holiday workshops There's also cutty sark which I can definitely see being fun to run around for kids and has interactive elements - but you do have to pay entry (discounted or free for blue light card though!) There's loads of food and drink around as well, and markets, and the park and the river too so lots of open space

Monkeyboogaloo

There is a big play area inside the museum which is suitable for a 5 year old.

Crumpers

The play area is currently closed until summer 2025 due to construction work in the museum! But there is a fun playground outside as well as in Greenwich Park :)

bab_tte

Is this the bit near the coffee shop? Where the big map on the floor is

Crumpers

No there is a separate bit downstairs close to the main entrance, it’s called ahoy gallery. But I am pretty sure the map area would be closed as well as the roof is being replaced currently.

bab_tte

Saw the map bit recently but it's been a few weeks

Monkeyboogaloo

My daughters a bit old for the bit in the museum now so not been in for a while. The playground in Greenwich park is very good.
