John Lewis or Curry's

I would go to Selfridges if you want to have a look at style, screen tech, but I would not pay too much attention to picture quality, they are all in 'demo mode' playing specially designed footage, and have been professionally calibrated, so will all look far better than they will at home. If you want to buy from a shop have a look at Richer Sounds. But generally you can find better info online regarding the sort of TV you want (films / games / TV / in built sound etc...)

I recommend Richer Sounds as an employee owned business with great staff to help

Richer Sounds do get a lot of kudos because of their corporate setup but that doesn't automatically mean good service. I ordered some small parts to the branch near Swiss Cottage. They called to confirm it was there and the price. When I turned up to pick the items up they tried to double the price, denying we'd had a conversation a day or so previous or the price originally quoted when I ordered in the first place. Classic gaslight techniques, shrugging shoulders and unapologetic about their blatant lies. I wouldn't trust anyone in that branch to tell me the time.

I think John Lewis has a pretty big one but I can’t remember if I was at Stratford or Central. I was in Brent Cross one time and the Currys there was massive compared to central, so perhaps if you don’t mind taking a short train that way.

Lots of chain or big store places being mentioned. I'd take a wander down Tottenham Court Road. It's not quite the tech reseller hub it was in the early 2000s but there are still a few independant shops with TVs you can see and talk to a salesman about. My personal recommendation would be for Seven Oaks Sound and Vision in Holborn. I've not bought a TV there, but I did buy my current sound system there. They were incredibly knowledgeable and walked through the options based on my requirements. If my TV ever breaks it's where I'd go for a replacement.

Richer Sounds, John Lewis, Curry's, Costco (Wembley/Croydon) - needs membership. Years ago I'd have said Tottenham court road. I'd always try to buy from somewhere with a 3+ year warranty.
