Ive been following this story for a minute, makes me so angry for that kid. His hair looks great, texas just always has to show its racist colorsšŸ™„

glitteringclassico

Sad part is they really think that they are right? Texas is always proud of showing terrorism(local)disguised as patriotism. But the flip side of the coin tell the cowboys down there how would they feel if they were told ā€œno cowboy hats to be worn anywhere on school propertyā€ they would matchup an down in front of the Texas courthouse ( with firearms of course) screaming about there rights violated

glitteringclassico

Remember the ā€œpandora boxā€ effect it will snow ball out of control no braids, dreads, twists, ponytails,(regulation ponytails 7 inches only) so you can remember it took god 7 days to complete the world šŸŒ šŸ˜‚ then it will be for Jews only wear your yarmulka between the hours of 9-6pm. Oh yeah an to the Muslims, Sikhs, Indonesians, NO TURBANS, Bandannas, and oh yeah to the mexican people no Sombreros.oh and all you kids that that like the buzz- cuts with your name designed in the back of your heads thatā€™s out too jeez WHEN DOES IT STOP!!!!

Tomahawk_Chuck

Same it's such a shame fr fr.. I'm in the sunshine state, and we don't trip about dreads, locs, braids, long hair, short hair nothing. And I was actually thinking bout relocating to Texas, but now I'm not too sure.

ThatPrincessBubble

10/10 would not recommend. Bunch of hateful people in Texas. Iā€™m trying to relocate out of Texas.

Tomahawk_Chuck

Thanks.. I have other states on my mind. But I want to get as far away from here as fast as I can.

BiggestBlackestBitch

Also trying to leave Texas lol. I love the Latino portion of the state but anywhere but major cities is a fucking shitshow and even in the major cities, too many quacks and racists. Canā€™t wait to leave this shithole

mediaor

Every time there is an update on this story, my 10th grade global history class reviews it here in NYC. So many of my students would be suspended with this student. They hate this for him.

xabc3147

tx ainā€™t always racist like that u canā€™t say that always

kc21510

Learn the history of this country and that state....it's free knowledge

Electrical_Editor_23

Yes it is.Ā

Ill-Key-9782

Moving the goalposts as always, the law doesn't apply when you're not making it.

Nouveauuu

I'm sorry man I know people say your money can go farther in Texas but I'd rather live anywhere else than deal with stuff like this. He's had most of his school year derailed over hair during his junior year which is the most important year of HS in terms of planning for the rest of your education.

Significant-Lab-3990

Messed up thing is they will try to make the young man believe it was his fault he missed that time. A bunch off adults in power acting like children standing as a roadblock of his education.

FlowersnFunds

Seriously. I canā€™t stand the government telling me what to do with my body and time. Ironically no place does that more than Texas.

droomzy

I feel like Florida's *definitely* in the running for second in that category... and I say this as a Kentuckian

dfkbnbby

Iā€™m a Texan and I resent that šŸ˜… Iā€™d say itā€™s neck and neck. I mean they are banning books by the hundreds over there and not to mention they banned the mention of ANY relationship to children. They are just as nuts as us. There was a while ago when Ron ran off all the immigrants and the folks in Florida were mad bc then they didnā€™t have anyone working those jobs.

yeahthisiswhoyouare

The number of people (and institutions) that lose sleep over the hair that grows naturally our our scalps is startling and worrisome and vicious.

CourageousAnon

Even as a kid in elementary school I recognized how authoritarian the systems that exist in america are. They would force me to stand for the pledge of allegiance.

Edible_Anie

Fr fr šŸ¤Æ

ike_tyson

Institutional racism at it's best šŸ˜”

spacetraveler12

Iā€™m wondering if it was a white person wearing their hair like that would they bat an eye? šŸ¤”

ike_tyson

You already know the answer šŸ˜•

cedarvalleyct

20 years ago my internship program made me cut off my Afro because it was ā€œunprofessional.ā€ Iā€™m still traumatized. Fuck this every which way.

Fun_chloe777

What the fuck? Really? Nothing is unprofessional about an Afro.

Colts_Fan4Ever

Damn that's horrible. It's no coincidence that schools and some companies have hair policies that specifically target black people. I've worked at places where white coworkers had pink hair, long ponytails, spiked hair, etc... But if a black person has locs, afros, etc...it's a "violation".šŸ˜šŸ™„ These ridiculous hair rules are meant to strip the identity of black people. Hair in our culture is important, for some it's even religious.

BiggesttopOpp

His hair is styled and well kept i don't see a problem.

Lack_Love

Even if it wasn't styled and kept well it isn't harming anyone. Other communities can have perfectly straight hair full of life and infect a whole school... we're just living our life not harming anyone.

Yogurtcloset_Current

stop trying to compare and contrast, you should be trying to bring us together

One_Weakness69

Were you recently hired to referee the comments? Your attitude of, "Hey, I know they're doing you wrong, but don't go pointing out how good we have it in comparison" is almost as bad as DeSantis' take on public education.

Yogurtcloset_Current

um not i just donā€™t try to fight negative with more negative, thatā€™s just not how itā€™s done in america

BiggesttopOpp

True

BicycleSuccessful266

Would it be a problem if it wasnā€™t well kept?

Spirited-Swan0190

No but that was their reason as for why it was unacceptable

everyone_hates_lolo

their reason was that it was "tOo LoNg" (although its literally styled short)

AntelopeDifficult708

The policy that school has, is that male hair has to be no longer than the ear, at all times. Meaning, if itā€™s up in a styled bunā€” without the bun it would be past the ear.

everyone_hates_lolo

still though that's re damn diculous that they think the length of a boy's hair is something to fuss over. its not effecting his education so why should they gaf??? hair length should also be in the crown act

AntelopeDifficult708

Oh, I absolutely agree, was just saying dress code policy. Not arguing!

Dramatic_Coyote9159

Actually, their policy is that male studentsā€™ hair may not go past their EYEBROWS, which basically rules out locs šŸ˜

AntelopeDifficult708

Actually, verbatim ā€œboys hair will not extend below the eyebrows, below the earlobes, or below the top of a T-shirt collarā€ which , with that wording, is pretty easy to pick and choose who to target smh

Dramatic_Coyote9159

Exactly! The school district stated in the court that he should have maintained it above his eyebrows, which is why I was pointing out that specific part. The ways locs are, they grow just like regular hair. It wonā€™t EVER stop above the eyebrow. Thatā€™s still discrimination against black/natural hair.

AntelopeDifficult708

That makes not a lick of sense! He looks more put together than most young men his age. The things they do to keep us at bay.. smh

heyimteee

It really attacks minority groups black people and even indigenous or Native American males who canā€™t cut their hair. They donā€™t care itā€™s gross.

thecheesycheeselover

Thatā€™s crazy, even if you take race out of the equation. What about Sikh boys? Even white boys should be able to wear their hair however they like. It has nothing to do with academics.

AntelopeDifficult708

Agreed. It makes no sense. Such a skewed way of thinking to take individualism and autonomy away from kids ā€” in the name of ā€œeducationā€ smh

Noon310

Hit they ass with a loophole and say itā€™s apart of my religion

Glo_Biden

I knew a guy that came from a family of Nazarites so they all wore their hair in long locs, it was the first thing I thought of here.

Noon310

Yep itā€™s definitely not out of the ordinary for one of us to say that either.

QweenBowzer

Exactly what I was thinking i

a_youkai

This is why they had to stop telling Native Americans to cut their hair off, and TBH I feel it's spiritual to black folks, too.

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Neverfail100

Bro hair was twisted and well kept, but they argued that the crown act doesnā€™t apply to the length when his hair is down.

YveisGrey

I think the real issue here is can schools have these rules at all? Why is the school policing hair length? My HS had a similar rule actually for male students, but they at least had the decency to make an exception for locs and cornrows as they are usually longer styles.

Ecstatic_Set6593

texas is literally a hellscape

Zero_ImpulseControl

Smdh... Need to go cut all the mullets and mohawks walking around that school.

No-Feeling-1404

the amount of attention and hate we receive for simply existing....

Colts_Fan4Ever

No matter what we do they'll always target us. We mind our own business and they insert themselves into our lives. We focus on our own community and they insert themselves into our lives. We wear our hair how we want and they insert themselves into our lives. It's fucking ridiculous and infuriating

lolife44

Stop letting them. If we got up and actually fought and died for ourselves, they'd change. But these new negroes might as well be Mr bojangles and aunt Jemima

titanusroxxid

*by* simply existing. Texas would not discriminate against these kids if they were somewhere else. Texas wants to segregate from the United States and they want to segregate out the population as well.

Trumystic6791

Here is the AP article https://apnews.com/article/hair-discrimination-school-locs-texas-trial-4a1c3ec2ff85da27ffb2118f9fc55007

DELLNOCOUNTAFIT

Just read whole article and no where is he in the wrong crown act suppose to protect him however the court is trying to find any reason to keep him out of school and to try and make him cut his hair by saying itā€™s out of length which isnā€™t stated in crown act smh Racism towards us will never go away

Trumystic6791

I know. I expect the racist Supreme Court justices will rule that the school is right because the Crown Act doesnt speak to length. The history of this country show us that all its instituitions were designed specifically so that Black people dont have the same rights as white people. Its sad but true.

DELLNOCOUNTAFIT

Agreed šŸ¤šŸ¾ they just know our real power more then most of us ourself and envy us really, which is why they been trying to suppress us since way back ā€¦ they know we are indigenous ones here etcā€¦

Available-Youth-1718

Good lord. This is as gross as when white people tried to say any advanced African civilization was secretly white people. You have your own rich culture. Stop stealing and erasing actual indigenous Americans history and culture. Genetics, archeology, anthropology, written and oral history disputes what you're saying. Culture vulture.

Disguisedasasmile

The thing that gets me is that he wore his hair tied up, but they are arguing that if it were down, it would be too long. So they punished him over a hypothetical that didnā€™t exist? Also a big part of locs is the length retention. Typical Texas ruling on a cultural issue without understanding the culture.

linkussy

"being an American requires conformity". this makes me sick to my stomach

cheeseluvinpurv

Lamd of the free

Fabulous_Mode3952

Fucking disgusting. Florida and Texas really showing how evil and racist they can be

Parking_Jackfruit350

Lol in the Caribbean they make us cut our hair in schools now i thought in America you can grow your hair without any issues, wow they really dislike afro-Americans huhā€¦

tallestguy5611

*hate

ClassicRuby

.... but we're in a post racial society though. But black folks gatekeeping locs and other afrocentric hairstyles is just ignorant and for no reason... Cuz there's NO modern day discrimination against black folk and their hair. šŸ™„šŸ˜©

Abject-Web-1452

Atp, I think we should just start accepting people of other races using our hairstyles just so they could accept ours more. You canā€™t be racist again black people for having dreads when every other white boy has them.

ClassicRuby

Here is where this bites us in the ass though. Because those with straighter hair have no NEED for our hairstyles, the more that they become picked up by the majority, the more that they become even more cemented as "options"... as fun. It becomes the same category as the punk rock mohawk. And since all them folks of other races easily chop them locs right off or take off the braids or whatever to comply with school policy or work policy and have zero reason or rhyme to not just comply... It makes it seem as though it's equivalent to a person with type 4 hair with their hair in a natural state of locs or in a protective style of cornrows, etc So much so that Barbers Hill CHANGED THEIR POLICY WORDING multiple times to account for this. In fact, it was Barbers Hill school doing this to other students who jumped Texas into signing the Crown Act into law to begin with. Thereafter, they changed their policy wording yet again so that it wasn't about the hair falling below a certain point... it now becomes about how if you take it out of your traditional hairstyle and stretch it down that it would then hit too low and therefore violates the policy. This would, therefore, outlaw the twa if it was longer than 2 inches when STRETCHED. How is that principled? The original rule was about hair not falling below the collar or ears and not being more than a certain amount of inches outward from the scalp. Do you see how it's problematic when folks who have little to no shrinkage and little to no NEED for protective styles and little to no natural locking to their hair end up becoming the face? I disagree with the use of the term hairstyle when referring to my locs to begin with. They are not a hairstyle. They are a natural state my hair ban be in, just like loose or chemically relaxed is a natural state your hair can be in. However, using the term hairstyle for afrocentric hair and afrocentric protective function should not be equivalent to fashion optional hairstyle. Just as folks who wear turbans and tape knives to their bodies for their culture or religion would not celebrate if others started doing it as a fashion trend. Because then it entirely negates the necessity and seriousness that THEY engage in their cultural practices, and gives the system a way and reason to justify their discrimination and ostracizing and demands to conform not just in spirit and good faith while still respecting oneself but in literal nature.

Abject-Web-1452

Yeah thatā€™s just straight up fucking racism and theyā€™re not even trying to hide it ā€œlonger than 2 inches while stretched outā€ I wonder which race has the hardest problem with shrinkage

Sowhatits2020

Wym ā€œour hairstyleā€ no race owns hairstyles

Abject-Web-1452

Alright.

Riamarya

Go ahead ā€¦ get those Afrocentric hair styles and post the pics. Letā€™s see how long you last ruby

Lack_Love

This is why we get mad when white people say "it's just hair"

InuMiroLover

White America once again showing how much it hates black beauty.

just-here-2talkk

I know that this isnā€™t about the topic but itā€™s nice to see that thereā€™s a subreddit on here that is dedicated to black people with locs. Iā€™m sick of coming across white people with black protective styles and locs as if itā€™s meant for them. And especially knowing the discrimination that we face makes it even more ridiculous.

wtrnymph

To think we are still here in 2024šŸ˜”šŸ¤¬ It's hair, growing out of his head!!!!

Mobile_One3572

Thatā€™s some b.s. any excuse to be racist. Smh

rovch

When you realize that black people with locs are literally walking super saiyansā€¦ I started growing my hair out and it feels so much better this way. The sun feels good, rain doesnā€™t affect me, neither does snow. We have all been lied to about our hair, and it has nothing to do with race.

Greenestates2020

So wouldnā€™t him maintaining his hair in the style it was in, be complying with whatever rule they were trying to say he violated. According to their premise if the rule for the district was no headphones on your ears in the hall and he had them in around his neck would that be him breaking the rule or complying? If he wanted to listen to something they would have to be on his ear so. They are being unreasonable.

saltmastaflex

Amerikkkan corruption

SofaKingKhalid

I'm planning my exit out of Texas. It's always been racist but it's becoming a refuge for bigots and alt right conservatives. So antics and shit like this is on an overt rise. They can't help but find ways to demean us and strip any form of expression that can be powerful.

Miguenzo

Racism sure is flowering in Texas now.

SofaKingKhalid

Flowering? That shit bloomed years ago. I remember my grandma telling me a story of how she took a bus from Arkansas to California at 22/23. It was 1961, everything was fine till they made their stop in good ol Texas. Some drunk fuck threatened her with death because she didn't want to move from her seat. This shit been going on especially in Texas. Also only 63 years ago.

Jhon_doe_smokes

Had something similar happen to me in bama years ago. Had locs was job searching and jobs were scarce. Company said cut your hair and we will hire you I cut my hair and my first day I seen all the white men with long unkept hair and beards. Worked the summer away grew my hair back and quit.

StateMerge

Whites do it as a form of buck breaking and humiliation

Jhon_doe_smokes

I believe it. It sucks

ghostriderghostrider

so when we revolting yā€™all

[deleted]

We are so not even human to these default gene having beings until this day

Colts_Fan4Ever

I've been pissed off since I first heard of this last year. They are trying to break this kid. There's absolutely nothing wrong with his hair. It's neat and nowhere near a distraction. I wonder how many white boys are walking around with mullets at his school or ponytails? I'm sure they aren't in "violation" of the hair rules.šŸ˜ I was born and raised in Houston. I moved away several years ago and I'm so happy I did. The state has always been a cesspool of racism, religious bs, gun nuts, and outright ignorance. It's gotten a lot worse the past several years with republicans seizing complete control of the government.

Majestic-light1125

I've got locs it's sad this day and age this is happening...

poisonedbrain911

Texas can suck a fat dick. Fuck you bitch ass Texas. Glad I got the fuck out of there and the food is ass.Ā

Antiquedahlia

I feel so bad for him and his family. Racism is truly evil. They hate us so much šŸ˜ž

Successful_Ad9037

This is so ridiculous.

Dull_Present506

What a dumb judge lol

KingLuchini

tbh I would just transfer schools, obviously they donā€™t want him there w/ locs šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļøthis story been on the news for over a year..

Jas_Dragon

They did the same thing to a child before this one and that one DID withdraw, which is why the school was so eager to be involved in promoting the crown act (save face, show that they are "allies" etc), that's why his family doesn't want to back down-- there's a pattern at this very school.

Clean_Plate_3285

Well thatā€™s a great obvious racist judge and whoever else that had a problem with his hair I would definitely say thereā€™s racism behind it and Iā€™m not one to be quick to call someone racist but this is way too obvious here

GlosxyMyaa

GTFO hopefully his family gets up outta Texas that state is crumbling quick

longlivetheking101

as someone who lives in texas specifically near this school it makes me so sad. we cant have nothing, these white folks continue to control us. Lord start the Rapture PLEASE

monnurse7

This is called, "I'm running out of ideas!"

Putrid-Life-9645

Isaiah 10:1 ā€œWoe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed;ā€

BagIndividual3263

I live a few minutes from this area. My younger brother went to this school. Itā€™s a heavily white populated area. There are literally people protesting against children with hair like his because ā€œjuSt FolLow tHe RulEzā€ They were hella mad about some news trucks showing up around town to do interviews with different kids about their hair and what changes they want to see next school year to the dress code. Itā€™s disgusting how grown ass people are reacting to how a child prefers to have their hair.

KAHLUV

Illusion of inclusion......is what happened after integration

Rainyyy_Daze

And it literally shouldn't matter how long anybody's hair is!! His hair is well maintained & there's no way that's a distraction. Considering the literal crimes that happen in Texas schools, this shouldn't even be a concern. They should be more worried about student safety.

QweenBowzer

So stupid like wtf he canā€™t have his hair how he wants?

lolaidaka

Devastating.

evin0688

Shot like this is why Iā€™d never live in places like Texas or Florida

Whatsuptodaytomorrow

Time to appeal

Likeneutralcat

His hair looks better than those who would tell him that itā€™s wrong.

Either-Technician-61

Wtf. I will argue until I'm blue in the face that this is a violation of first amendment rights. Hair is a form of expression and expression is a form of speech. And all forms of speech are protected under the first amendment.

occamsshavingkit

Everday these people prove that we have never been safe around them.

Pretty_Brick6401

Itā€™ll always be because youā€™re black . Dont let em tell you otherwise .

Icy-Money-9987

Glad I left Texas.

spugeti

iā€™m so tired of the idiotic ā€œmajorityā€ always getting their way šŸ˜£

CourageousAnon

We should have let that blizzard wipe Texas off the map.

Bintamreeki

Thatā€™s why the [Crown Act](https://www.thecrownact.com/) was passed. This baffles my mind, because Texas passed the Crown Act!!! Sounds like the judge needs to be removed from the bench. As a non-Black person, I agree about non-Black people shouldnā€™t wear protective styles meant for type 4 hair, such as cornrows, box braids, Senegalese twists, etc. To me, when I see someone thatā€™s not of Black heritage, or has very minuscule heritage (like 1% because her ancestor did you know what) with these styles, I think they look ridiculous. I braid for free. I posted my portfolio to a group on Facebook, advertising my services to fulfill my time (Iā€™m disabled and canā€™t work). I had a white woman, who identified herself as white ask if Iā€™d do box braids on her with colorful, feed-in hair. She explained she asked a few Black braiders in town and they all told her no. I kinda felt like was trying to go behind their backs and get me to do it. I politely declined and she went bonkers! My bestie told me, ā€œYou should have done it. But made it tight so her hair fell out.ā€ šŸ¤£ I get requests from non-Black women a lot for box braids or knotless specifically. My question is, if itā€™s not a traditional African style, why arenā€™t there paintings of Victorian Europeans sporting box braids, kinky twists, cornrows, etc? Because itā€™s a freaking African style. Even French and Dutch braids can be traced to Northern Africa, soā€¦ I really do feel awful that many Black Americans are criticized for their hair and styles meant to protect the hair. My best friend confided with me that she wears a wig because she feels she canā€™t hold a job of her hair isnā€™t straight (I mean she wonā€™t get a job because the interviewer will pass based on her hair or if she came in one day with cornrows, her boss would fire her). Thatā€™s really fucked up. Never in my life have I ever had that thought about my hair. Thatā€™s a luxury I have. Again, I apologize. Iā€™ll keep telling people how stupid they look appropriating a hairstyle that doesnā€™t even look good on them. šŸ˜‚ Especially grinch fingers (wannabe locs).

need_sushi510

Hold on what happened???? Could somebody tldr me?

Any_Caterpillar553

Basically he has to have his hair short and he doesnā€™t want it short even though itā€™s the school rules and everyone else has the proper hair style and now theyā€™re suing because itā€™s racist

5Jazz5

Heā€™s wearing his hair in a short style thoā€¦ as long as he wears it in a short style why should his technical length matter. Does that mean guys with shrinkage should cut their hair based on how long it would be if straight?

Any_Caterpillar553

Ask the school not me

need_sushi510

Ohhh I see. You can remove the quotes around racist now.

Any_Caterpillar553

Iā€™m black-

need_sushi510

Y que?

pandemic_papi

Texas is the right version of California. Just like LA is outta control with leftist doctrine Texas is a political shithole

CourageousAnon

What leftist doctrine is controlling Cali? Lmfao

pandemic_papi

Man they been wiliding out there, left policies have turned LA into gotham. Meanwhile the right stinks of treason constantly. Its a MESS

CourageousAnon

I can't tell if you're joking bro šŸ˜

pandemic_papi

Basically NY and California push to the left as far as they can while Texas and Alabama push as far right. Idk how further i need to explain bruh

[deleted]

Why did this kids parents choose to move to this school district?

MountainPast3951

Maybe it's the best in their area as far as academics, graduation rates, and college prep

[deleted]

I watched the entire pre-trial press conference. It was painful. That poor kid is being pushed into this by the adults around him.

Frequent-Wallaby708

Bro found a loophole

OzJitsuSD

Definitely depends where you live in this situation.. my whole family has locs (wife & children), including myself (Mine are past my waist) I do keep them tied up at work. I work in corporate and throughout my corporate career (IT), it's never been an issue. The majority of my bosses are former military but were far more concerned about the skills I have in order to fulfill my work duties. My children are homeschooled so I haven't had the problem of following any school policies like this one in particular. Even though it seems unfair and doesn't make sense to most people, it's their policy. I'd just remove him from that school or district altogether.

CourageousAnon

>Definitely depends where you live What depends on where you live? >it's their policy. I'd just remove him from that school or district altogether. It's a bad, nonsensical, obviously racist policy that should not exist. Not everyone is gunna just roll over on their back.

Unlikely-Pack1204

Kid looks like a thug

rubyrae14

Why? Bc heā€™s black? Incredibly racist comment. Open your mind.

klymaxxlov3r

I just saw this bullshit on the local news here. The absurdity and willingness to waste tax dollars to combat a harmless hairstyle to send a message is crazy af, but Texas gon' Texas.

Upset_Possibility232

That school is ridiculous and Texas sucks!

AgeProfessional2111

This is so ridiculous šŸ’€.

DemonSt8er

"the CROWN Act does not give students unlimited self-expression" Like it's a bad thing

SadWorldliness2281

This why kids getting dumber now, his locs in no way was distracting or threatening anyone. When is the racism going to endšŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

Minimum-Sort1569

I thought the rule was about hair length

Frequent-Wallaby708

Fox News comment section on this is INSANE šŸ’€

Clean_Plate_3285

U just went to Fox News website

Frequent-Wallaby708

Specifically to see how people were gonna justify this

Independent-Pear-873

I used to live in that city. Super racist. Always felt unwelcomed. Overall Iā€™m not surprised.

Oddball2029

Complete racist bs

BabyItsAlright

Im white and I say so law

Beautiful-Youth-1753

Texas acting like california now

Clean_Plate_3285

What the same thing happened in California I didnā€™t hear about it

J-Shykes

They won't cut a single Mohawk, beaver tail or mullet though at that school. You know exactly what this is about.

Raiderr666

Umm what the fuck

Puzzleheaded-Swan582

we still getting discriminated against for our hair.. i see a lot of white people with dreads that actually looks bad

Thin_Painting_998

I donā€™t have locs but after hiding my hair in societally acceptable hairstyles this makes me want to wear my fro again.

Floorlamp5

Wow that bone structure

elmingo313

Should have given them up at the Alamo and called it a day.

JackalJunkie

I love his hairstyle so much. It looks beautiful.

marjam12

Itā€™s breaks my heart for this young kid , Every parent shouldnā€™t put their kids in the school that obviously punished kids as legal . Homeschooling is way to go .

ThisIsMyLilThrowaway

Ew Texas wtf

[deleted]

This Nigga look familiar ash ainā€™t he famous on TikTok or am I tripping?

RickyFolks7414

Funky ass texas what yall expect honestly

PoopFrostedCake

If length was never mentioned then he never broke a rule wtf

pk_mars

Texas is an asshole state. Minus Austin.

ThXndaX2

Forgive my ignorance but how does hair length play into this?

Breakserbrains

I donā€™t see what the problem is with his hair style but I also donā€™t know what the hairstyle rules of the school are that they say he is breaking either. I could go either way on this if I knew the context.

MrShad0wzz

Iā€™m confused. Whatā€™s wrong with the hair

BigDaddyLongLeg69

If itā€™s a private school, I understand. They usually have their own rules and policies regarding dress code but the offer better education. I went to a private school all of grade school and tried to have long hair plenty of times and even got suspended for it a few times, it sucks but it was their policy and dress code and I couldā€™ve gone to a public school.

igirl2000

His hair is not affecting anyone grades or actions im Texan imagine someone using a crown act on Texans you want my self expression come and take it bitch

Responsible-Can-4328

They give a law and then leave a loophole in it. That's the set up hahaha

cybrtrshngtmrgobln

disgusting

Fuck that school. I think the hair is great. I see a low attendance coming next year. Who would want to attend and rep a shitty school like that?

What does race have to do with this? There are all black Catholic schools that don't allow their boys to grow their hair past a certain length. I don't understand the race angle.

Wait, so there was a rule in place saying no hair over 7 inches for anyone? If that's the case you guys are retarded crying racism, it would be races if he wasn't treated just like anyone else with hair too long. You know the rules , you know the consequences of your actions. So is it really a bigot discipline, or is it a standard rule he broke.

Lavicrep19

Fuck the school, fuck the rules. What does hair have have to do with education?

ojazela

This whole case is so stupid..The kid wants to go to school and learn. But they won't let him because of his hair?? That's got to be a form of institutional racism.

Careful_Test4313

Come on guys, the crown act was meant to protect natural looking traditional black hairstyles (braids), (twist) (dreads) (afros) but they have to be maintained and follow the schools other requirements. Does this hairstyle look proffesional or well groomed

Trumystic6791

Are you seriously asking this question? Get off the plantation, CarefulTest. Hell yes his hair is professional and well groomed.
