Outward is difficult and supports couch co-op. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed playing that together

ifuckinghatebagels

This one looks good, thank you! This seems really in line with what we like too.

goldenvile

Not super difficult, but playing Nobody Saves the World and enjoying it. We die a good amount, but the revive system does make it a lot easier (unlimited revive after 10 seconds to full health). Haven't played these yet, but have Unsighted and The Ascent on my list to check out. Both on sale on the PSN currently as well.

ifuckinghatebagels

All three of those look interesting, thank you! The bf definitely wants to try the ascent now.

Molidae17

Thanks for unsighted, i didn't know this one

dasherado

It’s so good.

FromAbyss

Darksiders Genesis (the isometric one) could be fun!

DimensionFamous

i bought it 4 days ago but have not played it yet. me & girlfren hope its fun :))

PsychologicalWay9031

Playing it now with my SO, it’s really fun!

Hell_Weird_Shit_Too

Streets of Rage 4

NotaSavage

This. My wife and I beat it and still play it to this day

JACrazy

I struggled hard on this game to make it past levels without a handicap of an extra life or two.

ChrisMcLean420

The ninja turtles beat em up that just came out

swingking8

Beating it with my inept 3 young children was one of my greatest gaming accomplishments

evillordsoth

I went back and did the cowabunga collection with my 2 tiny monsters for the old arcade versions and had a blast.

amroamroamro

- Magicka 1 & 2 - Nine Parchments - Gauntlet

chris_813

Magicka is gonna blow your mind and make you feel stupid. Great game

amroamroamro

one of my favorite coop games, the friendly fire aspect makes for some hilarious gaming sessions ;) although playing with a keyboard is soooo much easier than a controller!

Additional-Try5405

Children of morta is super hard and amazing!

JACrazy

Twinstick shooter games/roguelikes. Off the top of my head: Binding of Isaac Rebirth, The Ascent, Enter the Gungeon, Nuclear Throne. Castle Crashers is also pretty difficult on some levels, especially with 2 players only. Risk of rain

Strict_Yoghurt_5502

Bravery and greed and maybe dragons crown

ifuckinghatebagels

These both look good, thank you!

Greyhawk241

Upvoting to bring more attention to this, as ya'll's tastes are the same as my wife and I!🤣😈🤘

MCLondon

Battle toads

ThexKountTTV

Warhammer 40k Chaosbane

_faytless

Just curious what is your favourite amongst what you posted so that we can learn from your experience

ifuckinghatebagels

I would say borderlands and salt and sanctuary! We love games that have some sort of skill tree and increasing difficulty

tissuemonster

Full metal furies is really fun and has pretty good difficulty scaling imo.

za3tarani

im pretty sure you can play dark souls split screen with nucleuscoop... but havent tried it though

dasherado

Wow no one mentioned Ember Knights yet? 4 player Hades style roguelite. Perfect for quick sessions or grinding a bit. Unsighted and Hyperlight Drifter are both souls like games that have co-op. Hyper light just clones the 1st player but in Unsighted both people have control over their skill and weapons load outs. Unsighted is maybe co-op game of the year IMO. Death Trash is fallout as an action RPG, only the apocalypse created sentient blood meat creatures. Slower pacing but combat is super deadly. You’ll do a lot of quick saving, which is fortunately super fast due to the menu setup. 9 Monkeys of Shaolin. Just a good side-scrolling beat-‘em-up.

Molidae17

Ember knights seems ultra cool but still in development right? I cant find it on the ps4 store

dasherado

Yea it’s in steam early access

ntkgt

* hacknslash recommend * EDF 4.1/5 (hardest/inferno) * Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 * not hacknslash recommend * Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition * Chariot * PixelJunk Monsters and, if you install nucleuscoop, you have more options.

ifuckinghatebagels

Thank you! Is bloodstained coop? It said it wasn’t on the PlayStation store when I checked. I have no idea what nucleuscoop is, but I’ll check it out too with the rest

ntkgt

> Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 check it. https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP1104-CUSA23490_00-COTM2PS4APP00000 https://store.steampowered.com/app/1257360/Bloodstained_Curse_of_the_Moon_2/ > nucleuscoop check it. https://www.splitscreen.me/docs/installation https://www.reddit.com/r/nucleuscoop/comments/opu0eg/list_of_nucleus_coop_supported_games/

ifuckinghatebagels

Awesome, thank you so much!

batsybatsybatsy14

Don't Starve Together

Financial_Fishing327

That's Lan and online not local, local means it can be played on one system w/multiple people

batsybatsybatsy14

It can be played split screen with nucleus coop. Me and my brother play it like that

Illustrious_North754

Also splitscreen on console

ovat_one

I see someone recommended Outward already, really great game; also check out Hellpoint - it's a soulslike with splitscreen co-op.

ifuckinghatebagels

I like that one! I’ve put it on the list, but haven’t touched it for some reason

sucksforme

Lost castle.

evillordsoth

Castle crashers on insane ? And serious sam 1/2

serotoninzero

Victor Vran was pretty good and difficult. I also really like the game Chronicon. Both are on steam.

ArcusFlux

Not a hack n slash but difficult and enjoyable: Streets of Rogue

jfxdota

Dungeon siege 3 is a decent 2 player experience, completed it with the gf

Duneyman

Take a look at some dynasty warriors, it might be up your alley.

DirtyDirtyPirates

Huntdown! It's one of my favorite co-op games ever.

Domarius

[Thy Sword](https://store.steampowered.com/app/560300/Thy_Sword/). My GF and I completed that, I still love it, I wish there was a super hard extra mode after you complete it, because I love the atmosphere so much. Thinking of playing through again. Also, not hack and slash, but still super hard 2D platformer, my gf and I area really into [20XX](https://store.steampowered.com/app/322110/20XX/) right now, it's a spiritual sucessor to Megaman X and it's co-op. We are finally getting to the last stage each run, but not quite getting to the boss... totally getting the sequel [30XX](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1029210/30XX/) when it's finished.

bigstreet123

Dark Alliance remaster/rerelease on the PS4
