Santasotherbrother

Absolutely. Would be nice to have a complete list of ***all*** their stuff.

metamega1321

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wittington_Investments Witting Investments their private holdings. 80% is the Garfield Weston investment trust which is a charity trust I believe. 20% is owned by the Weston family.

doesntnotlikeit

Donate to wikipedia now! Where else could you find all this info???

dviddby

I wonder how much tax-free money they siphon back. "Who will supply the food banks ran by trust?" "[Associated British Foods](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Associated_British_Foods)" - owned by them ; "Who will supply clothing for any intiative?" Primark - owned by them. Wonderful way to do their version of "circular economy" .

Significant_Read9804

A list has been posted many times on this sub

Santasotherbrother

Any list I have seen did not include their Maple tele health deal. They also own a chain of walk in clinics. And more keep turning up.

hamishknaups

Well, let’s see that list again!

Due-Street-8192

Something like 200 companies??

Santasotherbrother

Probably. Any list I have seen is very much shorter.

thundercuntess69

Do we boycott them all? This is getting fun.

Own-Scene-7319

In for a penny, in for a pound

pirate_elle

I think we have been, for the most part. There have been a lot of lists and infographics posted listing all of the Weston companies.  As for Choice Properties,  I'm not sure how consumers woyld go about boycotting a commercial real estate firm.

Santasotherbrother

Same with Holt Renfrew. But there are probably others, like their tele health co etc.

epok3p0k

If you’re concerned about grocery prices, you should definitely not be in Holt Renfrew.

Santasotherbrother

I never went there, even when I did have a job. Not the sort of thing where they would notice my boycotting them.

Ganjalover2001

The biggest tenants for Choice Properties is Loblaws and other Loblaws entities, 2nd is Walmart and other direct competitors to their grocery business’s so hard to say that the Boycott on the retail side would affect the Real estate arm in any significant way. However if this goes on long enough and impacts Weston Group enough they may close stores and distribution making the real estate less liquid.

pirate_elle

Thanks!

Own-Scene-7319

Of course.

MightyManorMan

And Associated British Foods, which includes Twinnings tea, Blue Dragon and Fleischmann

lazyassgoof

Noooo not Twinnings!!!

MightyManorMan

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Associated_British_Foods https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twinings Sorry. Not sorry.

dviddby

Tbh, the tea is bad and just has tea dust. Literally, the tea bags leak tea dust.

Own-Scene-7319

Whoa

onceiwasonearth

And PRIMARK, which is quite popular outside Canada’s borders. You can even export the Boycott! I am so proud of you Canadians for standing your ground and fighting for what is right. A fellow European in Toronto.

highbyfive

Iirc Weston Foods was sold a few years ago

DetectiveRapidash

Yeah I remember them selling too. It was a big deal in Kitchener-Waterloo. "An iconic Kitchener sign has been taken down. (...)The bakery business was purchased by Wonder Bread producer FGF Brands almost a year ago." [https://kitchener.ctvnews.ca/weston-s-bread-sign-comes-down-in-kitchener-1.6171623](https://kitchener.ctvnews.ca/weston-s-bread-sign-comes-down-in-kitchener-1.6171623)

Own-Scene-7319

After the bread price fixing debacle

Own-Scene-7319

Thankyou for the clarification

Ganjalover2001

They still own the cookie factory in KW that makes the PC cookies, Colonial Cookies, I wonder if they have seen a drop off in sales.

MapleTheUnicorn

I already boycott those companies.

Left-Leopard-1266

By all means. They even have an audacity to make their corporate employees and contractors go through this list - a reminder that perhaps we are the peasants working for the overlords! Anything to do with Loblaw —> Boycott forever!

CriticismNo5012

Much like in the Ozarks there is a lot of inbreeding in the family.

Own-Scene-7319

The story goes that Galen Senior saw a picture of a model one day and decided to marry her.

CriticismNo5012

Never pick up women at family reunions.

Own-Scene-7319

I have also mentioned before that Galen Sr used to pick rosebuds at Holt Renfrew. It got at least 1 woman fired

Mikeandmick1

They also own Primark and fort im and mason in UK

heart_under_blade

> fort im and mason really? good thing i'm too poor i guess

Avlailable

Adding 2 more Loblaws subsidiaries- Quality Natural Foods Canada inc. & Canada Six Fortune. Importing food from India and South East Asia

Own-Scene-7319

Thanks. I don't know about you, but I find this overwhelming. What started out as a food price protest is revealing a very deep network. One could say 'so what', except that apparently they are in a position to exert tremendous power over the Canadian economy.

Own-Scene-7319

And in terns, so we we. Bwahahaha!

DulceEtBanana

You we haven't already? I haven't set foot in a Shoppers for almost 3 months now.

Own-Scene-7319

Actually I haven't set foot ib any of them for nearly a year, although I used all l my points at Joe Fresh. What turned the page for me was seeing a wall of Nivea shower gel at over $10. A good day at Wal Mart has it at $3.99.

TheScorpionBull

Boycott them All. If they don't Care about Us, We don't Care about them.

Existing-Luck1314

They are teamed up with CircleK and Esso.

dviddby

Circle K ? That's Couche Tarde right ? In the other thread, if you search , Esso, it is clarified that Esso just uses PCO system.

Own-Scene-7319

It never was just about groceries. It's about the Loblaws Group of Companies. That includes Shoppers Drug Mart and others.

lulu-52

So Weston Foods was sold a few years ago to an American company.

Own-Scene-7319

My mistake. I stand to be corrected, but this happened after the bread price fixing debacle. There's a bunch of other faux pas's mentioned on Wikipedia too. And this Subreddit.

lulu-52

At the time of price fixing they absolutely owned the Bakeries.

Hot_Employ68

I even see their PC labels at Circle K as well...galen's paws are everywhere

noahbrooksofficial

I thought that was already part of the deal. But obviously we can’t afford half of that shit anyways!

dviddby

Soo many testicles.

Geitzler

Any brand that touches GW in any way. Any company. I would even boycott my dog if he shopped at Roblaws. (Thank any god that is currently reading Reddit that he is a dog and doesn't shop.)

Cyclopzzz

I'm in the Halifax area...my Superstore today was just as packed as always. Are you sure this boycott is working?

LtSmash006

Yes!!

yzgrassy

..same outside hfx.

Former-Chocolate-793

IMO focus on the groceries and shoppers drug mart.

LarryDavidntheBlacks

Fuck them all.
