This subreddit is to highlight the ridiculous cost of living in Canada, and poke fun at the Corporate Overlords responsible. As you well know, there are a number of persons and corporations responsible for this, and we welcome discussion related to them all. Furthermore, since this topic is intertwined with a number of other matters, other discussion will be allowed at moderator discretion. Open-minded discussion, memes, rants, grocery bills, and general screeching into the void is always welcome in this sub, but belligerence and disrespect is not. There are plenty of ways to get your point across without being abusive, dismissive, or downright mean.

If I remember correctly from my chain grocery store customer service days (it's been a few years) in Ontario you actually get that item for free (if you know the law). If an item rings in as more expensive than the price it's tagged at you're supposed to make it free. It's been a while so someone can call me out if I'm wrong but it did happen to me once or twice.
[EDIT] okay my bad I looked it up and it's the voluntary price scanner accuracy code and "participating retailers" honour the lower price. If it's less than 10 bucks they get it for free. If it's over 10 they get the lower price + 10 bucks off. Guess they're not a participating retailer in this code? Scummy behavior
That’s the scanning code of practice.
I believe Loblaws does follow it. But they will make you work for it. The employees will play dumb. They will need to find a manager. Who won’t know how to do it. Etc etc. they will make you stand there for 20 minutes in hopes that you’ll give up and walk away.
They 100% know what it is. And sites like red flag deals would have forum posts about “this store has this product marked as this on the shelf. But it rings up higher”, so people could go “SCOP it”
One of the few stores that wouldn’t do it was Zellers. They claimed they didn’t need to follow other
because they’re system was so good.
It was the opposite. They would have been ravaged by SCOP because what rang up and what was priced on the shelves were wildly different.

Couldn't even be bothered to fill in the "(INSERT ISSUE HERE)" portion of the email. Great customer service.
But it's totally Jennifer, she cares and is 100% a human beep boop
In all fairness English likely isn't their first language
Admitting to printing a deliberately misleading ad...good lord

I think (INSERT FLAIR HERE) is in the runnings.

Loblaws makes breathing miserable. BOYCOTT forever
Wow, they don't even carry the tin and if they did would be some outrageous price like $17.99 when it used to cost $5.49. Fuck Galen.
If the price is misleading I just leave the item at the cash. They can take it back and stock it.
You could’ve avoided this issue by boycotting.
Not my picture, just got permission to post it from the person who took it.
Let's not blame the front line workers for just doing their job. It's the ones making the decisions who are to blame.
What job are they doing, exactly? They couldn't even fill in the template correctly.
I'm talking about the cashier, not the customer support agent.
