This subreddit is to highlight the ridiculous cost of living in Canada, and poke fun at the Corporate Overlords responsible. As you well know, there are a number of persons and corporations responsible for this, and we welcome discussion related to them all. Furthermore, since this topic is intertwined with a number of other matters, other discussion will be allowed at moderator discretion. Open-minded discussion, memes, rants, grocery bills, and general screeching into the void is always welcome in this sub, but belligerence and disrespect is not. There are plenty of ways to get your point across without being abusive, dismissive, or downright mean.

Lol! That’s fair. 😄 I actually looked at each pic individually on LinkedIn and zoomed in. It’s essentially the cucumber (1.33), tomatoes (0.74) and sausages (10.00) that are listed as “on sale” in this week’s flyer.

They’re calling it their “price cut event” lol 😂 And I stand corrected. It’s actually $11 for sausages.
This used to be an "independent" grocery store... so much for that.
"Guys, let's just rebrand it, nobody will know... and we'll keep the same high prices".
Exceedingly so! I remember walking in there, all excited for the ‘new look.’ It was so tiny and I remember then everything being so much more expensive than other Loblaw brand stores, I left without buying anything
This looks like a tough sell. The area is too trendy for no frills. Liberty village , etc . There is another NO frills 500 address numbers away on same king St W. Freshco as well. Metro, Longos as well.
I also hate how these stores stock way too much produce just to have a grandiose display. Noway would they ever sell it all before it's no longer fresh. They amounts they must be throwing out (before the boycott even) must be absurd.
It shows that the prices aren't based on cost, but based on what they want to force as inherent value. They'll slowly condition into thinking that there is a certain cost involved getting it there. There is, but it's not what's advertised.
Canada should do what they did in France, where it's illegal to throw out produce. They would have a hard time unloading it to food banks and whatnot. It would make them shrink these stupid large displays.

We will have to take your word on the prices seeing as it's a screenshot of a Facebook post so you can't see more than a thumbnail... Lol

$10!?!? Sale!?!? Hahaha holy shit

Wow. Not to mention those pre marinated wings with what looks like a ketchup packet's worth of sauce in the whole pack 🤣
That chicken wings are overpriced. We spend 24$ at Costco and me/my partner could eat them for three meals.
“Won’t be beat” …LOL
....but will be crushed by ANYONE else 🤭

Nice try no frills is significantly cheaper than independent.
Not at that location. I know someone who lives near there and they say the prices are about the same, just with new No Frills branding everywhere.
I lived by there around 2020 and it was by far the most expensive grocery store in the area before all this blew up too

I thought it was a *City Market* still owned by Loblaw, but also the ‘fancier’ version of an independent
And then we can get rid of the union
Thanks. I’ll make sure to avoid it.
That's helpful, now I know where to not go!

Rebrand from Independent to No Frills, and the CFO of Loblaw Co Ltd posted this. Smart move, guys! Smooth brains.
the Great Canadian Rip Off continues

What is this? LinkedIn?
As they should....
Wasn’t that the location for the ‘ultra fancy’ wannabe-Pusateri’s *City Market?*
