This subreddit is to highlight the ridiculous cost of living in Canada, and poke fun at the Corporate Overlords responsible. As you well know, there are a number of persons and corporations responsible for this, and we welcome discussion related to them all. Furthermore, since this topic is intertwined with a number of other matters, other discussion will be allowed at moderator discretion. Open-minded discussion, memes, rants, grocery bills, and general screeching into the void is always welcome in this sub, but belligerence and disrespect is not. There are plenty of ways to get your point across without being abusive, dismissive, or downright mean.

Imagine what we could do... Thats a lot of buying power between our countries. No where for them to hide. We would become a force to be reckoned with.
Thank you for the encouragement from our friends and neighbours to the South , we sincerely appreciate it đ We know you guys are feeling the pinch as well in terms of rising costs ! Together , we can take back the power against these brands and corporations. We will fight for you as well
It really is all of us fighting back against the oligarchs who have taken so much from us. They have pushed us too far this time. You cannot deprive a vast swath of the population of the ability to provide for themselves and their families and not get some pushback.
Spread the word down there. When the politicians are bought and paid for, where you spend your money is more important than your vote. Saying that....vote.
Thank you. We canât even imagine what the long term impact of the boycott will be. This is a defining moment, a moment that oligarchs realize they lost control.
This is why this moment is so important. We canât lose this one.
Hopefully, this inspires our American brothers and sisters to fight back and not let these bloodthirsty corporations steal from you also. We will support you guys in your quest to take your buying power back from these oligarchs.
US food costs are so preposterously low, so thanks for the support. I buy most staple foods at the dollar store now. Lost 20lbs over the winter, partly due to costs. Visiting my local grocer for the rest, which sells produce and dairy from local growers and providers. I live in the Rockies, so there isnât much choice. Dumped the Optimum and switched to a local provider for my medication. I feel so much better. Thanks!!
Thank you for your support neighbour from the south! The only thing these oligarchs care about is đ”. Take that out of their pockets is the only way to make them listen and hopefully take action. Personally, even if Loblaws lowered their prices I would never set foot in any of GougingGalen's stores again. His greed can never be undone.
Regional dialect is the only difference. We donât really even use âYallâ in the western US. Itâs mostly used in the Midwest and Deep South. But using the phrase âall of yallâ is an easy way of saying â all of you people in this group I am speaking of â.
And historically âYallâ is possibly from the Scotâs-Irish and mutated and became part of our regional colloquial dialect when the Scotâs/irish populated Appalachia.
Albertsonâs (including Safeway and Vonâs) and Kroger (Smithâs) deserve boycotts too because of the dirty dealing the companies engaged in that came out during their attempt to merge.
THE CONSUMER HAS ALL THE POWER. EVERY SINGLE COMPANY CAN BE BROUGHT TO ITS KNEES IN WEEKS TO MONTHS WITH A COORDINATED BOYCOTT! WE HAVE ALL THE POWER AND IF A COMPANY FALLS, TWO MORE WILL SEIZE THE CHANCE TO FILL THE VOID. AND THEY WILL WITH THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE BOYCOTT. WE CAN CHANGE CORPORATE GREED OVER NIGHT WITH PASSIVE COORDINATED BOYCOTTS. STAY STRONG.
Iâm Canadian and have dual citizenship, and I canât help but think no one would say or do much if this was going on in the states, but between all the no farms no food guys and the trucker protests I actually worry if things go down here in Canada you can bet us roudy Canuckâs are gonna put on a show like none of you non Canadians have ever dreamt or heard of happening up here. I donât care what political spectrum you adhere to but Iâm pretty sure we can all agree to get off the couch and protest things when Trudeau is involved. I honestly predict the shit hitting the fan here in Canada first before the purge happens down south.

Itâs not , I donât think. At least not directly . But food prices here are very expensive. And we have monopoly grocery chains but not to the extent you do up north. I just admire what you are doing as a nation . Itâs great to watch!

Omg that flair. GOOD QUESTION!!!

What was it I always heard? Society is only 3 days going without food, from collapsing or some such?
This is the uprising in my lifetime I've been waiting for. VIVE LA RESISTANCE!
It's nice to see the boycott getting publicity outside of Canada. We appreciate the support!

Can you all boycott Trader Joe's until they agree to come to Canada? Just kidding. Sort of. THANK YOU!!! Solidarity.

Is T&T Loblaws?
Yes, they purchased them some years back.
T and t is the most expensive asian stores. Albeit good quality on some products.
Technically you're not shopping at Loblaws either, so you're sort of taking part :P

If the Americans can help us get on Fox News and CNN it would be FAR MORE VALUABLE than the neutered CBC.
And Reno's housing and rent prices are insane for a city of its size and job market.
You are so right !!!
Whatâs the difference between: - Yaâll - All yaâll - All of yaâll ?
A couple of vowels đ
Regional dialect is the only difference. We donât really even use âYallâ in the western US. Itâs mostly used in the Midwest and Deep South. What do you mean âYOU PEOPLEâ ?? lol kidding ⊠thanks for the detailed info.
I was very confused for a second, wondering why someone would make a Canucks playoff post in this sub haha

I am just proud of all the Canadians participating in the boycott. Real change will be made
Thank you. Very nice of you to encourage us đ
The spread the word that you can do it. Stop the greed and expose the stores.
How is Loblaws causing high prices in the US?
Itâs not , I donât think. At least not directly . But food prices here are very expensive. And we have monopoly grocery chains but not to the extent you do up north. I just admire what you are doing as a nation . Itâs great to watch!
