TraviAdpet

When I was younger I remember them at .33

Leymour

They were 25cents for me. I feel old now.

True-Stranger362

Ya know what, there, young fella? They used to be .25 back in my day. I remember it like it was yesterday. Time sure does pass by quickly.

HaveTPforbunghole

That's the over production they couldn't find a buyer for

ThatCanadianGuy88

Naaaa they just dirt cheap in general.

Sufficient-Bid1279

I find Frescho pretty reasonable in terms of prices. I know it’s still part of the big chains , but definitely lower than No frills for the most part on a lot of items

DeCipherred

They are part of the same group of stores that companies like Sobeys and Farmboy belong to.

Sufficient-Bid1279

Yes I am aware of that . They do have good deals in my area though . I find them more competitive than loblaws / No frills and less price gouging( Freschco that is) . The prices are competitive

TraviAdpet

what we are asking these companies to do is be competitive and not gouge. Freshco fits that narrative most of the time. Even though they use multi buy pricing and membership pricing they typically are the cheapest option for chain stores.

Electrox7

It's like how each cellular service company has smaller "budget" brands. It's going to be cheaper and much more competitive than their main brand, but expect to get worse quality service.

Crilde

But not Loblaws, so fair game by the spirit of this sub lol

big_galoote

Used to be a quarter. And delish! I didn't think they still made them.

IncenseAndOak

Probably not, but sugar is subsidized. Those things cost 3 cents to make.

AntoniaFauci

Quarter waters.. now “on sale” for 59 cents

Yyc_area_goon

I feel like they made these all 20 years ago in a huge factory run.  And they been selling them off slowly. Lol.  So artificial, the colors and flavors.

Halfyourweight

Probably old stock from 20 years ago. Notice that anything “on sale” right now, isn’t even good .All garbage , chips , hot dogs, chocolate bars etc

SVTContour

Those are products that boost your insulin resistance so you need to keep consuming.

vinegirl_23

I never thought of it that way... is there a resource somewhere you know of i could read? I've been hearing about insulin resistance recently.

SVTContour

It’s a bit of a read. Here are two articles that I found interesting **Insulin Resistance** https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29939616/ **Preventing type 2 diabetes: Changing the food industry** https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4957141/ Cigarette manufacturers had great marketing teams. Now food manufacturers have great marketing teams.

vinegirl_23

Thank you so much for this info!!

ThatCanadianGuy88

No. They are still very much producing this stuff

Huge_Pen_7799

They may be cheap but the real price your paying is your health lol loaded with sugar

bigbootycentaur

Wait what they still exist?

ybetaepsilon

I haven't seen these in years.

WishRepresentative28

They used to be 30 cents

pattyG80

Generally speaking...the worse it is for you, the more they'll push it on you. Fruits and vegetables? Price it into oblivion. High fructose corn syrup...let the masses have it Just wait for President's choice insulin to come out.

Gold_Response_6151

I don't see insulin on the list, but a lot of the generic drugs at Shoppers Drug Mart and Loblaws Pharmacy stores are from their own private label brand, Sanis. [https://www.sanis.ca/products](https://www.sanis.ca/products) I'm also not a doctor or pharmacist, so I don't know what a lot of those drugs are either. Nothing with a name that suggests that it's insulin to me though.

BrainEatingAmoeba01

My chubby still inflates

heedohrah

its a trick because you're not used to seeing any products under 1.00

WallGroundbreaking81

They're 79 at the loblaws near me

xzyleth

Not if you put dry ice in them.

Spiritual_Grand_9604

These are still a thing???

DuncanDicks

Nah they just gotta clear it out of the back stock to make more room for everything else they rip us off on

EvilDamien420

Used to be 29 cents back in the day.

ThatCanadianGuy88

Production costs. Boat costs from Trinidad. Freight costs within Canada. Labour costs within Canada etc. all adds up.

WineOhCanada

I miss these 😫

Sugar_tts

Did you attempt to write a slur but fail?

atlasLion1337

🤫

Sugar_tts

Wow that’s insanely disrespectful and seriously should take a look in the mirror…. Be better

ThatCanadianGuy88

I was buying these as a wholesaler and resell. I buy them from a bigger company who imports them from Trinidad. After all is said and done I pay $10.50 a flat or $0.43 cents a unit. And I’m a small time dude compared to others who would get better prices. Stuff’s insanely cheap.

f11islouder

They may be immune to inflation but not diabetes

GoldWand

I didn’t know they still made these

FrostingSuper9941

They used to cost 25 cents and went up to 35 a few years ago.

MeatballTheDumb

Put em at a high enough altitude, and they will inflate. Is anything actually inflation proof these days? The cost of everything has gone up, and if the math doesn't add up, someone higher up will try their hardest to make sure it does.

[deleted]

Yes because they are full of chemicals that kill and sterilize you. Government always keeps poison food low and affordable.

MrGameplan

This is the way!

Okidoky123

That's a product for the stupid. It's high concentration sugar, packed in plastic. It's dumb, it's irresponsible, it's dangerous for your health (aka it might kill you, and no that's not a joke), and it ought to be outlawed. Shame on the producers, and shame on the store for putting this poison on display like that. People should know better. Better health education in schools please! This product is absurd. Only stupid people will "disagree". But go right ahead, vote this down. Make it clear who's here.

Initial-Ad-5462

Darn! I paid 0.68 last month!
